I was able 2 get my GN n the 11s with following combo & cost. adjustable wastegate $70 Walbro 340 fuel pump $200 Razor Alky Injection $450 Turbo Tweak Alky Chip $100 MT Drag Radials - $300 injectors $249 23lbs of boost stock turbo & intercooler Result 11.92 @ 114mph Not bad 4 a 23 year old car & in 86/87 there was nothing touching these cars.

My EVO it was almost stock, the car that I had with a lot of power it was the Mitsu Eclipse 2.4 stroke Turbo AWD.
T66 garret ball bearing , forged piston etc!!! had 700HP @ 30 to 33 PSI. I ran 11.2 at 124 MPH with no traction on the take off (street tires), I never had a chance to use race tires.

I've raced 2 Evos with my 11 sec GN and smoked them both. Wasn't looking to run the 2nd one but the driver was pretty cocky and said he smoked a dozen or so GN's so we raced and I beat him by about 4 car lengths. They're nice cars, but some of the drivers are pretty cocky.

yea the 4g63 produces around 280 on tq.,stock the buick lc2 cranks around 380 stock. Plus the evo has a manual trans and launch control, think about how long those diffrentials and joints are going to be dependable for, i still have to say the evo is nice but i would rather have an american muscle any day....

a couple of my buddies have evos and that is a reflashed 2step, not redline. you used to have a 15 second celica and were trying to race against a mid to low 13 second wrx?

no replacement for displacement, i agree only for top fuel dragster level, funny cars and rail cars but other than that, there are 2.0 turbo 4 cylinders going high 7s low 8s. john shepard used to drive his car to the track when it was a mid 8sec car. there are 4 cylinder NA hondas going low 9s. over all 4cylinder cars are a lot more efficent and make more power per liter and per cylinder.

It has "high horsepower per liter" is like saying "Gary Coleman is tall for a midget." They're still tiny engines and still produce overall unimpressive horsepower figures.
The only reason they're even competitve with larger displacement cars is the presence of AWD...and that only helps off the line. It becomes a crutch further down the strip, due to the parasitic power loss of an AWD system.

hmmm....lets see, john shepards eagle talon produces over 1000hp on race gas, so does ams's evo, buscher's evo, shodowns eagle talon, almost all the ecotec race cars, almost all the scion race cars, i mean i can keep on naming them all day. there is a 4cylinder dragster that produces over 4000hp, look it up, it has an acura intergra shell

Race gas? Hah! I KNEW you would pull this cop-out. There are forced induction V8s that pull 1000 horsepower and higher on 93 octane.
That 4000 horsepower Acura dragster, last I checked runs nitromethane, IE, it's a top fuel dragster. Top fuel V8s produce over 9000 horsepower.

what exactly is wrong with putting down high hp on race gas? also please show me a 1000hp v8 that runs 93 octane, because i have not seen one of those yet. (not saying its impossible just want some proof)

The Lingenfelter Corvette produces 1100 horsepower on the chassic dyno (that's not even corrected to the higher SAE crank rating) on 93 octane gas. Practically any modern hot rod magazine will have a feature on some 1000+ horsepower V8 street car, usually turbocharged.
If you still doubt me, google "Red Victor."

i didnt doubt you, i simply said i never have seen it myself. also those cars that i have mentioned, are all AllWHP rated not crank rated.
i am not arguing that there is a replacement for displacement, all i am saying is the all mighty v8 is not all that special anymore....

red victor is crazy, 236hp per liter is high for an efficient turbo 4 banger, and red victor does it with a massive 8. 2200hp is rediculous.

another thing, last time i checked a high hp v8 car with stock suspension and all season tires hooks just as well as a high hp fwd car with stock suspension and all season tires.

yea the 4g63 produces around 280 on tq.,stock the buick lc2 cranks around 380 stock. Plus the evo has a manual trans and launch control, think about how long those diffrentials and joints are going to be dependable for, i still have to say the evo is nice but i would rather have an american muscle any day....

yea, but that 10 sec. evo probably drove to the track, ran, and drove home... that gran national with it drag tires most deffinently did not... and there is a 6 and 7 secound dsm out there... but never the less.. I love both cars.. and before you bash, yes i own a eclipse, and yes my dad owns a GN.. which will be mine when he dies.. yay

Exactly why, though I have mad respect for the GN's, I prefer myself a ralley car [Tho not EVO or STI].
Seriously - some of you guys should leave the egos at home for a bit and check out some ralley videos - amazing automotive performances.

TT my butt! That was a single turbo and looked to me the GN caught the Evo in the first run. Nice for an Evo, but I'll still take the GN!
