  • This video is very nice...old doom metal to much quality. Paradise Lost rulesssssss

  • this is a really good song but it makes me think that nick holmes uses a lot of studio effects...since he can growl in studio but it seems he can't when performing live....it even sounds he's pushing it too much in studio....great song though

  • @mudcradle

he stopped growling in 1993 thats probably why

  • @pingu53 couldn't agree more.....

  • Göttersong

  • They had a bit of energy back then, ha ha. Great stuff.

  • i grew up with this band, the 90's was the decade for REAL music.

  • where's a woman

  • Best albums are Shades of God and Icon! This is a great song too.

  • Thank PL for froming and being the best band ever

  • Man !! I miss these days ..

  • does anybody know if there is an available torrent for "live death" and "one second" dvd's?

  • The problem with the modern Paradise Lost is that Nick's holding them back. He can't perform what he's done in the studio, (even of recent years)

  • @calastiur I agree he seems to be really struggling in what I've seen of him performing live. But by the same token I couldn't possibly imagine PL without him, it'd feel like a totally different band.

  • @chromeblack that's true, his voice really defines Paradise Lost. Still a shame the studio versions of ''As Horizons End'', ''First Light'', ''The Rise of Denial'' and some more sound way better than live, vocally atleast.

  • Too bad I could never see Paradise Lost in their prime. The band's fine today, but Nick Holmes can't perform what he's done in the studio, or won't even try to put some effort into his works. A shame.

  • FUCK, NICK!! SING THIS SONG RIGHT!!!!

  • Im agree with the man of below!!!...

    why are they too hot?

  • great!

  • true gothic metal!!!

    forever song!!!!!!

  • I wish I could have seen Paradise Lost back in the early 90's, because let's face it; no matter how much you still like them, (their new album kicks ass though) Nick Holmes struggles a lot these years when it comes to both clean and harsh vocals. It's just painful to hear. Too bad I'm born in 1993 >.>

  • FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I miss the old paradise lost...

the old were.....melodic,doom,a little gothic and death....THEY WERE AWESOME AND GODS...

today's paradise lost suck :(((((((( some fucking techno pop rock :((((

  • @YohVsNarutoIsBack : i agree with you, today's paradise lost, and gothic scene in general is very close to "some fucking techno pop rock" !

  • @YohVsNarutoIsBack I strongly disagree, Paradise Lost is perhaps only band that I liked before and after style change. Not all change is bad, most bands that don't change usually fall apart sooner or later. You can't skin the same goat over and over again. The music phase you are in will pass, you'll become too saturated and want new music styles and then you'll find their new songs perfect, different but still familiar. I know it happened to me and I shared your current thoughts back then.

  • @IBezimeniI I like changes...but not like this...I like changes like septic flesh , or moonspell ,anathema and my dying bride...PL lost their originallity (sorry for my english) ...old school PL fans know for what I m talking about....

  • @YohVsNarutoIsBack I don't they lost their creativity in fact Gothic was the only song is was really into from their first period and I can name many bands that sound like early PL while I can't think of another band that sounds like their synth-pop era which gave their best songs imo (like One second, Mouth etc). they sound very different and I didn't believe that they were the same band when I heard the newer stuff so it's logical they lost part of their fan base who like the heavier sound.

  • @YohVsNarutoIsBack I can agree however that since "Symbol of life" they aren't exactly what they have been and except few songs like Erased especially on recent albums they do sound a bit non-descript and generic to me. Well but all this is just a matter of taste. I can however understand that as a band they get bored of one type of music and move on, and still think that their first change was even though a radical one essentially good,

  • pure doom

  • @ghost4896 nop.. its just called the definition of gothic metal

  • I don't know why....but this video makes me feel like no other by any other band. Maybe it's watching a band with full power, playing new, exciting music in front of a dedicated and devoted crowd. It looks very vital, even joyful....to top it all, Gothic is the most epic sounding PL song

  • Вот они,родоначальникидум метала!

  • One of the best solos ever.. unlike most metal solos which are fast, this slow one is just majestic!... The song is played quite fast here though.

  • I appreciate Macintosh as a guitarist because he doesn't give a fuck about "666 notes in a second" style of play, and instead creates atmosphere with his unique slow melodies.

  • ecstasy !!!!!! my youth :)

  • our youth

  • the sound is very good, raw and TRULY live!!!!!!!

unlike todays metal bands, everything sounds so plastic in today's metal bands......

  • Amercians know shit about doom metal ! amercians always talk shit about doom metal ! amercians dont undrstand doom metal !

    fuck u all !

  • I agree. The guitars are in way too up tuned.

  • I prefer this kind of performance than the seudo operatic shows that some bands put out this days.

This is real Heavy Metal not a bunch of guys fooling themselves thinking that because they have and orchestra and some female singers they are playing classical music.

  • true

  • @Chupertulo more than real heavy metal.

    this is ROCK AND ROLL!

  • This A God Musik

  • parasdise lost-dismember-kreator-cancer-bathory

  • I thought they would've had a more theatrical show. wheres the female vocalist?

  • they were the first band that introduce a female voice in a doom metal scene assssholeee. read more please

  • why am i an ass hole? i just asked where is she, i dont see her in the video. calm down psycho i like the band and i like her voice. i guess some people just come here to talk shit to people?

  • there was never a female vocalist in paradise lost, she was just a guest musician.

  • Chill man, the geezer obviously doesn't know too much about PL. No need for hostilities.

  • fuckin cool band

  • The Masters...

    The Great Era...

    Miss those Days.....

  • old times when nick's voice (and growls) were really great. So bad he can't sing properly these days

  • I liked the Gothic album alot, it was a good blend between their early doom/death and later very light goth/dark-metal style

  • gregor mackintosh rips!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How dare you post this shit here?

  • what shit? the one you have in your brain?

Paradise Lost was the best gothic band there was! Too bad their sound is diferent now...

  • i think the name fits perfectly with the theme of the music duh

  • Infinitas gracias divino Nick Holmes por cantar para nuestras almas en Bogotá D.C. - colombia

  • Awesome song, this is not the same band...

  • Uh yeah it is, that big banner behind them says what? Paradise Lost, notice the left-handed guitarist Gregor Mackintosh or the long haired Nick Holmes? Yeah that's them dude.

  • Im pretty sure he meant, they have changed alot over the years and got worse lol

  • Oh yeah. Good point lol

  • I know this sounds irrelevant but for some reason, I've always thought that musically, this song oozes sex, and I just love it! =D

  • HAHA...well, whenever I look at Nick, I ooze :) Rest of the band look pretty hot themselves.

  • I don't mind Nick not growling anymore but it's too bad that he can't scream with his voice anymore like in this version. One of Paradise lost's best songs for sure, though.

  • he is older now, man, and I think he didn't take much care of his voice. I was never much fan of growlings, but nick's always fit well to the songs.

  • well, his raspy voice sounds pretty forced and weak these days, wich is a shame i believe.

  • Best version of this great song!

Although pl for me started only with shades of god, this is one of their top five songs...

  • jaja me acuerdo de viejos tiempos kon esta rola ....

  • Top music, top PL Album, Just needed the girl with and some more Growling Vocals from Nick Holmes. Classic doom/death must song.

  • Great song for a great album.

This is the true Paradise Lost band!
