Loved Evil Roy Slade. I remember watching back in the late 70s; must have been re-runned on Sunday afternoons. I was about 8 or 9. My dad was a big fan of the westerns. Evil Roy Slade had a good humor to go with the western theme.
I like the Dick Van Dyke Show ...Mad Mad, Mad, world connection in this movie. Don Rickles had a guest appearance on the DVD show and his character's name was Lyle Delp. Dom Deluise's name is Logan Delp. Jerry Paris was Jerry Helper and directed a lot of the episodes. Mickey, Dick, Milton, Edie, were all in Mad World. There's probably more but I quit counting.
@tubemember004 And he was the voice of the Sheriff of Nottingham (Disney version of Robin Hood)! Which is where I first heard him and where I first learned to love the man's voice. Him and Andy Devine, man (also in Robin Hood). No one cooler.
this is the best movie ever. me and my sister watched it religiously everytime it came on. i just ordered 3 copies on ebay in dvd! thanks for posting this tubemember
Thanks. This aired at least once a year during the 70's. We'd watch and then at school the next day we'd go around reciting the dialogue. "Bing Bell Somebody at the door?"
If the second half of this made for TV (that's right - made for TV) movie had been as funny as the first half, it would have been the greatest comedy of all time. As it is, it's still half of the greatest comedy of all time!
Many years ago as a kid my best friend and I agreed that this was the best movie of all times. Later we joined the service, he loved the Marines and I was from a Navy family so I went Navy. A few years after we were discharged, and both ended up working for the US Army Corps of Engineers, where we were divers. My friend died in Nov 1989 in an on the job diving accident. Yes I still love this movie, and think of him whenever I see it.
One of my absolute favorite films of all times. Yes, gfterp, my father also know the "Stubby index Finger" song and he is in his 70's. Sorry for your loss and anyone who loves this movie should be mourned.
My family first saw this when it was new, at a tough time for us all, and we laughed until breathlessness and pain. I haven't seen it in 7 or 8 years; it holds up. My Dad could sing "Stubby Index Finger" until his death in '97. Thanks.
Oh great, now I'm gonna have the "Stubby Index Finger" song stuck in my head all day.

@Noizzification ...How about a remake with Christian Slater or Nicholas Cage as Evil Roy.

@Noizzification You couldn't remake it though. It was truly a one-off.

@Noizzification Nah, they'd ruin it. Why not stick with the original? It's perfect the way it is.
