wouldn't it be faster to damage boost up to his eye and use the lvl2 blade? I'm pretty sure the spikes only do 2 damage.

@Anonymous52555lp You'd probably be able to get some shots in but if you don't kill him in less than a couple of seconds with it you'd die to one of the spinning eyes I think.

If you really want to have the minimum number of items you need to get the Snake. Plus if you got the nebula and upgraded it to level 3 it would be worthless, making only one item useable. Hope this helps.

Strange. I got past Hell on my third try, and beat Ballos on my first try. Maybe It's because I started to panic at the end and started to Mash the shooting button with Nemesis, and that I didn't take a lot of hits during the first two forms.

Yeah the last form is tricky cause if you take too long you pretty much have to restart cause he rolls around the room again which wastes a lot of time.

Fucking epic dude - is this the fastest MinItems Hell speedrun?

The only way i've been able to play through Hell has been with all 7 weapons, 9999hp and a shitload of ammo/xp for weapons - and i still lost about 600hp :(

If someone were to beat it I'd definitely try to top it, but this one's been up awhile with no contenders so I may not ever get the chance heh.

I'm sure you could pass Hell if you gave it enough tries :D it just takes some practice.

How much time do you think having Snake and/or upgraded Rocket Launcher saves against optimal lv. 2 Sword spam? Just hypothetically, not considering practical limits like the player's button mashing speed.

Any%. I'm not sure all hp expansions save time, an optimal run (accounting for possible damage boosts) likely needs only 1-2 at most.

You should look up another run done by a Japanese player. Cave Story superplay or something it's called, it's the fastest run I've seen and probably the fastest any% run you can find.

The time is like 2'17ish I believe. It's crazy fast, uses a lot of damage invincibility, and uses what is probably the best weapon setup as well.

Ah, well, sorry for being ambiguous. I'm looking for a complete run and pondering on the optimal any% weapon setup all things considered for a TAS level playthrough.

For instance, I'm positive that taking Nemesis is definitely not worth it in a full run, and turbo lv2 Sword spam may as well make Rocket Launcher largely redundant due to limited ammo and having to take several detours and a lot of small stops.

Well the fastest Hell run that's on youtube is 2'17"4 which is incredibly fast, taking a lot of damage, abusing invincibility, and probably the most important thing, the Super missile launcher. He also had incredible luck on the 2nd room, which I just didn't have the patience to wait for >.>

Without the ability to use any of that, you can't get much better than 3"30'0 in my opinion, unless it's possible to kill Ballos' 3rd form in 1 cycle.

If anyone has any faster ideas, throw em at me.

All the time that I made up came from beating Ballos faster =x you seemed to make it to Ballos faster so if you were to copy the strat to kill Ballos you could beat it >_>
