This is wonderful and God used it to change how I approach teaching the children in our church and even my old children... Is it OK to take an excerpt of the MP3 for this and share it with other teachers/parents in my church (the video has both the catechism and adult sermon in it, the catechism part is only about the first 17 minutes of it...)
@sweetsweatyfeet poor kid is yours!! u call us fanatic and i call u a crazy cuz since u don't have God in your life it doesn't has sence at all..you're just like a bug !
@TheVDN What god?--demonstrate that your god exists. You can't--because your belief is a product of faith, not of reason. It's all emotional manipulation of your wishes, hopes and fears. Believers are captured by belief itself---you believe because you want to, not because it is reasonable. Belief fulfills many emotional needs and insecurities--the appeal is to your heart, not your mind. It's amazing the fraud that can seize control when we abandon a critical approach to knowledge.
@sweetsweatyfeet if u trying to be an atheu i can do nothing about it i and don't need it cause your miserable atheu life will show you the truth, ,..... late or soon !!
and if you are certain that God does not exist, so what is the 'resonable' reason that u live for? what is your purpose in this life? huh?..try to be scientific now !
@TheVDN I'm getting fed up with you arrogant Christians proclaiming anyone who doesn't subscribe to your pinched view of existence as "miserable".
Each of us creates our own purpose in life. Life is an end in itself---it doesn't exist for some absurd purpose in a fabricated world of divine fantasy. Whatever supernatural realm of existence has seized control of your brain was made up by primitive theocratic savages.
Christianity has no place in a critically thinking, rational mind.
Dear sweetsweatyfeet, Hello :) ... I just wanted to ask you a couple of questions...Where do you think the Bible came from and who were the writers of the 66 books?
Oh...and I was wondering why you took the time to watch/listen to this video if you are not a Christian! Perhaps you could help us all by sharing with us what your purpose in life is?
Why are you so bitter and angry? I do not wish to make you further so, but I really think your have faith yourself, but you are unaware of it! :)
@cheryl7davis Because you asked nicely I'll answer your questions even though a couple are rhetorical and presumptuous.
1) I'm not a bible scholar, but as for the OT, virtually nothing is known of it's origins or it's writers. Even the age the OT scripts is wildly guessed at. The NT scripts were written from 50 years after Jesus into the 2nd century by men who never met Jesus or his contemporaries. No bibliography is supplied which makes it all complete here-say....
Con't-- Furthermore there is nothing written about Jesus during the time of Jesus and that alone is highly suspect. One expects that for someone with his following and level of influence, something might have been written by about him or perhaps by Jesus himself---especially since he was alleged to have performed "miracles". But nope---nothing. The Romans who were excellent record keepers---make no mention of Jesus...
Con't-- The scripts themselves were selected (or rejected), compiled and translated (canonized) over a period of time (some say up to two centuries) at sole discretion of clergy from the early churches. Then for centuries no one was permitted to read them except for the clerical elite. Then after several more translations (including King James) and tossing out some of the books, we have more modern bastardized versions of the original scripts. Compare the Torah to the OT to see the differences.
2) I've commented on many of PW videos because he is a zealot of the highest order and portrays Christianity at it's most dark and parochial. He is in my opinion an intellectual criminal with a growing influence which makes him all the more dangerous. It's interesting that Christians consistently critique and attack atheist videos on youtube and you have nothing to say about that. But you question why an atheist would dare speak critically of a controversial preacher.
3) I had actually answered the question of purpose. There is no purpose for life that is externally imposed. We craft our own purpose for living which can be different for each person. But one common purpose for all life forms (including humans) is survival. All the values from which we derive happiness, joy and fulfillment make life worth living---and this one life is all we have.
Life is an END IN ITSELF, it's not a means to some mystically asserted purpose outside of life.
4) Interesting you brand ME as bitter and angry in light of theist Ad hominem remarks--- "miserable atheist life" or "you're just like a bug". PW himself takes every opportunity to pour derision and contempt on man's earthly joys---or anything else that doesn't conform to his pinched view of existence.
But it's okay with you when he launches those missiles?
So you think I secretly have Christian faith. I also speak out against Islamic extremism--does the make me a closest Muslim?
Dear sweetsweatyfeet, First of all I thank you for your reply, grateful for the time you spent putting all together. I apologise if I offended you when I asked why are you so bitter & angry, it was merely an observation from your comments left here. :) I do not wish to argue with you on your opinions, just to make an observation about your replies you give; 'reasons' why you do not believe The Bible.Like a scientist you need evidence...'yes!' @cheryl7davis The problem is Cheryl that it's NOT true--that it's flat out fraud seems to escape you. There is no 'this world' vs 'supernatural world' dichotomy. The problem you Christians suffer which (unfortunately) cripples your ability to make critically and impartial assessments--is PRECONCEPTION. It's the product of indoctrination (usually during formative years) which deeply pervades your mind with a set of ideas and premises which act as filters through which you perceive the world...
The effects of 'preconception' can be fought but it's not easy. What's required is rigorous introspection---to challenge the very premises of your core beliefs. Fear and anxiety can hamper attempts to question your root assumptions. I remember a little bit from my lovely Sunday School teacher. Would have more of an impact if I had that teaching at home too, though my parents could have done worse. Now I want to teach my children according to God's word :)
@raversonTrustInHim Part one is called "Importunity in Prayer - Paul Washer" I believe. It should be in the "Suggestions" list to the right of the video.
Love this... Just sound doctrine, I just love listening to PW. He is very true to the Word. It doesn't matter what people say, but what does God say in His Word?? If PW would get up and preach someting else than scripture, I wouldn't listen to what he would say. But I see great similarity to what scripture and PW says. I believe many people who think PW a heretic are stirred up by other people instead of going to scripture all by themselves praying to seek the truth, asking God to reveal it.
@Heismightytosaveyou AMEN! This guy is my hero. There are not too many people alive who can give an exposition of the Scripture better than this man. And he's learned from the best too. He often quotes Spurgeon and Leonard Ravenhill, who my dad and grandpa adored in their day and you can tell he has incorporated the very best preachers and teachers in his ministry. I HAVE to read the Bible immediately after listening to PW. I just need to do it more on my own now....
There's nothing wrong with The Lord of the Rings...? I personally will set nothing wicked before my eyes and not entertain some fairytales based on pagan Nordic mythology...filled with violence and un-Christian philosophy. White magic and dark magic...all this witchcraft. Also, the Wind in the Willows was from an era of Romantic literature that included much nature-spirit worship. The demon-god Pan appears on the cover and in the story of WITW to help the characters and deletes their memory.
Paul Washer is a blessed man of God. I do pray the ones who come against him unjustifiably would be less inclined to ignore John 7:24 than their own ego.
@kingcletusthecatfish Sorry that you dont like Washer, you must not like the Bible either, or you spend very little time in it, else you would know that what Washer is teaching IS truth. If you dont like what he says, why are you watching?
@patton1461 Paul Washer is a heretic who teaches salvation by works and is a professional ruiner of faith. Shame on you for supporting such an unbiblical heretic.
@somelifeexperience please show the evidence to back your opinion. I have watched/listened to a lot of MR. washers sermons and I would argue the opposite.
@somelifeexperience He doesn't teach salvation by works. He claims that good fruit is evidence of salvation.Jesus said essentially the same thing.A good tree cannot bear bad fruit and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. The work of sanctification is evidence that one has been justified.Brother Paul does not teach justification by works, he affirms that it is by grace through faith alone.People seem to have misconceptions about his message.Watch them and ask God to open your mind.Lord bless.
@kingtesmania You sir are very much mistaken, Washer is not teaching salvation by works. He is very specific about that. He says that if you are truely saved ther will be EVIDENCE to confirm it.That theme runs thruoghout the Bible. Cheap grace is no grace. Grace is indeed a free gift, but its not a free ride. Christ Himself said repeatedly If you love me you will do what I say. If we are truely converted, our lives will show outward visible change, if not we should examine ourselves and ourfaith
@patton1461 James... You've just described the book of James. Too many people think that the magical prayer is the only key to salvation. That's not even in Scripture. Ephesians explains it pretty well. "For by grace are you saved THROUGH FAITH. Not of works, lest any man should boast." All Scripture is inspired by God and works together so smoothly. This is why I don't call Matt, Mark, Luke, and John the Gospel. I call the Bible the Gospel. It all points to Christ. Christocentric by nature.
Man, that is some good preaching, Mr Washer, those kids and their parents are exceedingly blessed. If I got to know God as a young kid, I would be a different man. May Jesus bless you.

@suddiza I love Paul Washer. He's a true brother in Christ. It is truly amazing how the Lord works in the man.
We, the children of God, need more of our God in us and more proper understanding of, and obedience to, His Word.

Does anyone know the ages of these children he's speaking to?

@kingcletusthecatfish Sorry that you dont like Washer, you must not like the Bible either, or you spend very little time in it, else you would know that what Washer is teaching IS truth. If you dont like what he says, why are you watching?

@patton1461 Paul Washer is a heretic who teaches salvation by works and is a professional ruiner of faith. Shame on you for supporting such an unbiblical heretic.

@kingtesmania I agree 110%. Paul Washer is a hertical works salvation FALSE teacher.

@somelifeexperience please show the evidence to back your opinion. I have watched/listened to a lot of MR. washers sermons and I would argue the opposite.
EvilBunniexxx 1 year ago
@somelifeexperience He doesn't teach salvation by works. He claims that good fruit is evidence of salvation.Jesus said essentially the same thing.A good tree cannot bear bad fruit and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. The work of sanctification is evidence that one has been justified.Brother Paul does not teach justification by works, he affirms that it is by grace through faith alone.People seem to have misconceptions about his message.Watch them and ask God to open your mind.Lord bless.

@kingtesmania Sounds like you don't listen to Paul Washer but people hear on YT that are bent on misrepresenting him.

If we are truely converted, our lives will show outward visible change, if not we should examine ourselves and ourfaith
patton1461 1 year ago
