I just received my EK chain for my 98 R1 but, I think I smashed one of the pins. Can I use a master link with a clip on lock or should I use a rivet type?
a tool still costs way to much when your already paying so much for the chain itself, plus it seems like the good chains always come with a rivet type master link...very disappointing
great video but the only thing you didnt mention is if the wheel tensors have to be loose or thight or if the wheel has to be placed in the center of the tensors tighting space
I do not feel it requires a tremendoous amount of hand strength to do this. Remember if you hold the handle of the chain tool and the wrench at the end it will increase the leverage maming it easier.
Hey man great vids, I have one question the rivet tool I'm looking at buying comes with 3 riveter sizes. How do you know which size to use. My bike is a 01 gsxr 600.
"we're outta time, you can do this yourse...."
yea just cut him off there lol

@Metalunique The rivet type is preferred as it is far more reliable.

Thanks you guys, you're the best at explaining everything and have given me the confidence to replace my chain.
Other videos have rambled, you were concise and to the point .

I could have used that tool two weeks ago to get my new chain on my '81 CBX.

Brian, does it take much hand / wrist strength to hold the chain tool handle still while breaking a link, or flaring the rivets?
