Fallacious rhetoric conjuring up a fallacious Left-Right fan spectrum could puff up Red Sox fans' egos with the notion that the "Left" only lost 7 games while the "Right" lost 14. The Yanks and Dodgers fans could be smeared by association this way in the minds of unthinking people. Leftist politicians win elections this way; smearing conservatives with the implication that their ideas are somehow like Nazis', even though Nazis were the National Socialist German Workers Party.
This room of baseball fans is in fact a microcosm of what the French National Assembly building was like in the 18th century. There were so many collectivists back then (the first socialists--Red Sox fans) that they occupied all the physical seats on the left side of the assembly hall and became known as "Leftists".
The remaining people represented a potpourri of different, unrelated philosophies. There were monarchists, anarchists, libertarians etc. The fact that they all had to physically sit on the right side of the hall didn't mean there was any shred of ideological foundation shared between them such that, if a libertarian got more and more radical about his beliefs, he would somehow transform into a monarchist or vise versa.
So, today "The Left" refers properly to the ideological tie between today's socialists and the original collectivists who commissioned the guillotine. But fallacious rhetoric about a Left-Right political spectrum only serves the need of some socialists to hide their ideological link to other, historically discredited socialists (NAZIs) while simultaneously smearing advocates of individual liberty with guilt by association to keep Leftists' Culture of Death alive politically. It's very effective.
The youngsters are too busy being educated by a system that forces their thoughts into a box saying left and one saying right. And the wizard behind the curtain owns both boxes.
