  • Saw them on Friday!! Best concert ever

  • This is great! Love the band, love the song and the dancers are just off the friggin' hook good!! This was a match made in Heaven for everyone! Kids of my generation didn't grow up with swing, but we got it in our daily lives through cartoons like the Jetsons and the Flintstones among others. Listen to the theme music for those two shows, big band swing all the way, and damn good music! Who knew were were getting a music education too? BBVD has my vote too!

  • i adore swing & big band music. i wish i could have lived back in the day. it looks like so much fun!

  • Man, am I glad to have Karl Hunter as my cousin :3

  • going to see them tonight!!! soo excited!

  • I'm tired of people saying they miss jazz, if you miss it so much hire a local band for your next event, we're starving for paying gigs! There's TONS of jazz bands still out there many performing and writing custom arrangements/tunes, if you like it support it.

  • Don't care for the show, but I love the band

  • this is my theme song

  • fellas it dont matter whether u like BBVD more or less than other bands...point is that this is true music....not rap or hip hop today....celebrate and appreciate swing.

  • @gumboy8 It's not about liking or disliking BBVD - I actually like them just fine - but this is not "Swing" as a music genre. It's not even Jump Blues, altho imo it's closer to that genre. It doesn't have the earmarks that marks it as "Swing" in the traditional sense. Most of all, it's too smooth, it doesn't have the same "conflict" in its "voice" that Swing has. It's very hard to mimic that "voice", even a lot of "old school" Big Bands these days are too smooth to do it correctly.

  • to ZErocraft> I can't hear like I use to, age is a matter I'm 59 /yrs. You can't compare apples to oranges, what you get is fruit. Big bad voodoo daddy wil never be cab and his orchestra. Imitation is the sincerest form of flatterly. BBVD is paying respect to the great One. Keep it simple youngster.

  • Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is smokin'! I love those guys, they really know how to swing.

  • This is music to make you smile!

  • Gosh, there fast dancing is annoying. One wouldn't even dance that fast with that music. They don't have to try to bust a gut out there on the dance floor.

  • @Airazer i don't know if you have ever been to a lindy hop or a swing venue before, but we dance this fast...if not faster...to something like this. But BBVD is NOT the band you want representing you if you're a dancer lol.

  • @jennbode01 Oh okay then, well that's neat.

  • @jennbode01 You know, I've always thought that's a pretty snobbish position to have as a vintage swing dancer. I've been swing dancing for over 15 years, just before the Neo-Swing craze hit the U.S. hard. That phase brought in a lot of dancers who had never seen a dance floor befor, & a lot of talented, passionate people who ended up staying long enough to start researching the most authentic vintage dances & music and brought it to the community.

  • @jennbode01 I look at today's kids who weren't there in the beginning and hear their "Ewwwww, BBVD is grooooossss. God, that's so old!" like they know something. The truth is those kids wouldn't BE here today - a huge percentage of today's newer dancers wouldn't - if it hadn't been for the first waves of Neo-Swing musicians and dancers to bring in the next wave. Yeah, it's not the kind of music we dance to now, but it was good for it's time, and it made some magic happen. Have a little respect.

  • @Direness well then i must say that while i do have "respect" for them bringing it back...I have adoration for the older people that played and danced to it in and around the era of the big band. Frankie, The jones's, etc...I have been dancing for many of years...i was taught by my grandfather around the age of 6 and have been dancing to his records since then (i am now 28) and i am teaching my son the same.

  • @jennbode01 Who doesn't have that respect that has even an iota of education about the dance and/or ? Hell, the respect is downright trendalicious right now. Ah, now my cynicism is showing, excuse me... What isn't trendalicious is paying attention to our recent past & how we have built upon it.

  • This IS the music. BBVD ROCKS!

  • The type of music is called swing

  • where can i download this type of music ?

  • @ZelenaBananaa you can download it from itunes

  • Hot and you can dance to the beat...

  • I love BBVD :D

  • I didnt know BBVD untill i saw "Despicable me" and after this i definetly love it.... whats the name of the song???

  • now thats real dancing with real music.

  • Why is it that each girls dress is a different style?

  • The music is simply bloody fantastic, but the dancing just does not mesh with this style of music. They should have done Lindy, or East Coast swing; it matches the band much better than this choreography.

I love Big Bad Voodoo Daddy - I could swing to them all night! I can't wait to see them in concert.

  • @sehopson They're AMAZING in concert! You're gonna love it!

  • love the fact that there are bands still playing classics. cab is my favorite but i don't like the guy's voice its nice but it doesn't seem to have the kind of energy/pep to keep up with the music

  • @phophjoph i think i agree with you on that the song sounds wonderful and he sang it well but just needed a little bit more oomph

  • Actually this is Cab Calloways song.... it's just a Big Bad Voodoo Daddy cover.

  • @PsychoHellKat Big Bad Voodoo Daddy did a Calloway cover around the time that they did this episode.

  • I love this music and dancing is so much better than nowadays stuff!

  • Love this! So sad that laceys not in the current season though... She was not always the best choreographer but she was BY FAR THE BEST FEMALE DANCER

  • These guys are downright fantastic. Anyone who listens to this music can't sit still.

  • I got to see them live last year, and I have to say, i've seen about 8 bands live, ranging from ska to swing to punk, and by far they were my favorite live show i've ever seen. Gotta love the brass.

  • @redhotcustoms have you seen RCR live? Or The Jive Aces, maybe even Lil' Mo and the Dyna-Flos? They keep your feet tappin' much better than any other time I've seen BBVD live.

  • the Zerocraft, obvioualy you are under the age of 30 yr/ld. You miss the power of their intentention to preserve the work/genius of a national treasure. BBVD is like a chef who takes a treasured recipe and ads this or that and makes it their own.

  • Exactly! I read an interview with Scotty Morris (singer/guitarist) and he talked about how he grew up listening to Cab Calloway and it was very obvious that he respects and enjoys this music. I love this band and the Cab Calloway tribute album is my favorite of theirs.

  • Comment removed

  • I love Cab Calloway but hate this band and this show. I wish they did not show up in my Cab Calloway search results.

  • Zerocraft, it's obvious you are under the age of 30yr/ld. What makes this band who they are is the power of their intention. Their purpose is to preserve the genius and work of a national treasure. To me they take a reciepe for success and make it their own.

  • I love it!!

  • it dose suck but the music is amazing

  • I don't understand why some people are so adverse to change. I like the old stuff, but the new stuff, both dancing and music, is good too. I would watch and listen to it and I'm sure there are others, but I also don't see what's wrong with updating it and bringing it to a whole new audience and new generation.

  • great band live
