@DarthVader7731 It was the name of the creature that took on all the different forms, pennywise being just one of the forms he took. if you read the book it explains it better than the movie.

@KFscorpion in the first gremlins he was called stripe in the second he was called spike so its easy to get them confused i think. however from the pictures he posted that is indeed stripe =]
@luminousblack Actually, the gremlin in the second film was Mohawk. Unlike Stripe, however, Mohawk only initally led the gremlins before leaving them to do whatever they wanted and pursuited to torture Gizmo instead ! ! :)
