    BORIS KARLOFFICE!?!?!?!

they were just fucking around here weren't they....?

  • Do you recorded that using a camara?

  • At 1:39, you can tell he (the player, not Simon) just realized what he did and was gasping.

  • yeah for a game so hard, what a weak ending

  • Here I was thinking the game was rigged. How the hell do you defeat the grim reaper? That was something about that game I didn't understand.

  • @LedWilde furthest i ever got was the grim reaper, and yes i died.

  • @floridasux321 It's tough. And I had no idea even how to attack him.

  • XD Boris Karloff. Lol!

  • What in the holy mother of shit is this fuckness?? - AVGN xD

Nice work on the boss dude

  • Finalily done this game i had this game when i was 10 years old could never get pasted the 5th boss managed to complet it to so fucking hard

  • so you don't get a chance to escape the castle before it collapses?

  • Anyone notice that right after the credits, when the game restarts to level one that at the top right instead of saying Stage 1 it says Stage 19.. does that mean it restarts the game with a higher difficulty or something?

  • lol Vram Stoker

  • I am impressed that you kept these, and I'm glad that you have a forum for them now. I wish I had a record of all the crap I beat when I was a kid.

  • lol reminds me of the mr lee fight in FF adv

  • Wait...I'm confused. Wasn't he in the tower as it collapsed?

  • Simon Belmondo!

  • Yeah this was probably one of the toughest action games of all time, but back then this was how games were made. I guess the idea was to give you more of a sense of accomplishment when you finally beat the game. I know the first time I beat CV1 I sure felt proud!

  • @packrat79 yea NES had some of the hardest games(CV,battletoads,Ikari Warriors 1 and 2,i could go on lol) and when you beat them the first time its like HOLY SHIT i beat it most of now days games you can beat in a 1hr or 3 and be like ok now what looks good but wheres the real game lol

  • Dracula's huge. He stands about 12 feet tall in this game and about 20+ feet in Simon's quest, lol.

  • Ha I never beat Castlevania - The first Dracula killed me. Now I have a better understanding of the opening prelude to Castlevania

    SOTN

  • aha you have got to love the credits

    "Dracula - Christopher Bee" lol

  • This game was so_fucking_hard! I don't even know how you managed to beat Dracula with just the potion weapon. I was workin' that boomerang like no one's bidness.

    Wow, memories

  • I just finished a run through of Castlevania on my PC through my Gametap subscription, all I have to say is: these games back then had no concept of balance and fairness to the player. They were exercises in sadism on the part of the developers. How I managed to beat these games back then, without the save state feature that we have today, boggles my mind.

Still Castlevania was a great game for its day. The backgrounds and music were top notch, even to this day.

  • @mikepalomino That's why retro gamers are considered hardcore compared to today's gamers, Today games are tested to make sure there is "balance and fairness" but like today, developers barely play the games they make, they just create them. NES games were never really tested the way they are today, with a crowd of testers. It was just a few people making sure it could be beaten, so an obscene amount difficulty is left in many games. Plus we didn't have internet or any help, we just went gung ho.

  • @JTcombomode Heh yeah man, I agree. Don't get me wrong, I beat Castlevania back in the day as well. The game is pretty straight-forward up til the 5th(?) level with the Grim Reaper. That boss was my worst enemy and would send my then-adolescent brain into a fury. I broke many a controller back then I am ashamed to say (lol). But some games from this 8 bit / 16 bit era I never finished because they were just impossible because of poor balance.

  • @djmixnmagic The holy water is actually the BEST weapon against Dracula's final form (or any boss in the game except Dracula's first form.) All you do is throw one while he is on the floor and it freezes him in place, then you can hit him twice with the whip before the flame disappears, then you throw another and repeat. If you do it right he never gets a chance to move. Cheap but effective. Forget about using it on Dracula's first form, whip his head to death.

  • the real dracula was actually a hero to most romanians.

  • yEAH, Barrett311, he/she edited this...you can see his lives go from 5 to 4 as well. That's ok though, it appears to be the same run through the game. Afterall, do you guys know how DIFFICULT this shit is to BEAT???? I played and played and played against Dracula sOOOO many times and could not beat it. once i got to the white beast, he always bested me. OH well, thanks for putting this up, mate! Nice to finally see the ending!

  • Good for you! I meant that I had never beat this with help from watching other's games. In a sense, that's like copying someone else's work. But, i don't suck since i've been to the end of the game so many times.

  • I remember getting so thrilled about finally beating this game, was one of the hardest ones around! Good Job

  • Die Alucard!!!!!

  • How did your life go up at 00:47?

  • I imagine he or she paused the recording to a point where he or she was more favorable to win.

  • look at his lives, he died and restarted the recording at that point so as to not make us watch the entire fight over

  • @barrett311 I don't know, I recorded these when I was a kid. I'm almost 36 now. My guess is I started recording a new fight in the middle of an old one since it took me a few tries to beat him.

  • @barrett311

    will you stfu

  • @TheCkfeister

    Nope

  • Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never seen the ending

  • Thank you.

  • I have an old as dirt VHS tape from when I was a little kid playing this game called "Gex 3". It's not all

    distorted, even though it came

from a 7 or 8 year old tape.

  • It's funny how they spelled everyone's name wrong. Dracula- Christopher Bee, Mummy Man- Love Chaney. I suprised noo one catches that

  • No shit... Maybe that was the point?

  • DAMN IMPRESSIVE!

  • nice. it rare to see original nes games on youtube. most other nes videos are unfortunately on emulators.

  • This was one of the hardest games ive ever played. There was only 1 guy i ever met that was able to finish it, and its because it was the only game he had - lol. True story. Me and another friend would watch in awe just to see the rest of the game we could never reach.

  • Nice critical strike on the first form.

  • how do you "critical strike"? i've always wanted to learn how to do that.

are you supposed to get hit and have the whip extended?

  • I always used to load up on hearts, so I would go into the battle with like 35 or so so I could throw tons of boomerangs.

  • This was a hard ass game.

  • Wow! you're lucky to still have that tape! how big of a flood was it?

  • man that is an old VHS tape!
