I played your Iowa cover and, at the same time the Iowa cover from shuber, and you two were WONDERFUL together. I had to pause one or the other at times, but not too bad. If you know someone clever with audio/video editing, you should try syncing the audio and alternating or fading between the video. You would be wonderful together!
Thanks a lot! My guitar is a Taylor, model 210, 2005 maybe. It was set up with medium-weight Elixer strings at the time. I love this guitar. The single Samson mic you see is recording everything.
Without a word of exaggeration, this is the BEST cover I've ever heard of this song, and it's my absolute favorite of hers. This was super well done. Totally brilliant.
Z- you are very kind. I love the way this song was written. With luck, Dar will see it sometime. Check out my originals if you have the time, like "C'mon Rabbit". Cheers from Brooklyn! -Christopher
You inspired me to keep posting videos. I've admired this video for a long time. I think I commented about a year ago but I wanted to say again how good you are and how this performance is really great. Check out my channel sometime too. :) Peace! Garrett Manry
Nice performance bro. I did a show with Dar a couple of years ago and she completely blew me and my band away. Nice tone of voice you have and i like your honest performance. Well done.
D, She is such a great writer. It's hard to know if her YouTube page is really her's... but I hope it is. Thank you to everybody who has watched and enjoyed this video. Cheers from Brooklyn,
Hey man, don't be afraid to throw some more strength into those vocals - you've got a really nice voice! Overall, though, I thought it was a really good rendition of Iowa. Dar is such a great lyricist!
I wouldn't say that this song promotes Iowa. It is a song of heartache. I would say that having lived in Iowa, it is a cold windy land that wears at your spirit. The people want to be warm but are trapped in this cold culture. I will leave Iowa dismayed and somewhat broken... To rebuild myself in the land where I truely belong. I advise people not to spend a great deal of their time in this place.
This is so beautiful. I don't know much about Dar Williams, but am now inspired to look into her material, not to mention yours as well, Rabbit! An excellent performance.
Dear S., Dar is great. I hope to meet her one day. Thank you for your kindness! I hope you like some of the original material as well. Cheers, Christopher.
Ahhh how can anyone help but love Iowa? I think that once you get to know the people here, see the spring, and enjoy the great country food... you will be sing Iowa too.
Great job. You have a beautiful voice, man. I'm developing a tiny man-crush. The only problem is the i-o-way part. It's awkward. Other than that, you gave Dar a great tribute.
Everytime I hear this song I think of this one kid I met from Iowa. I met him at camp. =] We really liked each other. But too bad i'm not from Iowa. lol I miss him a lot.
Hey, any chance that was an F & W camp? Or other quaker organization? I got introduced to this song at Saltash Mountain camp in Vermont... Man I miss those days.
May I put this up on my MySpace favorite Vids? Man, you need to be discovered. Your voice blows my mind. This is a gorgeous cover of a stunningly good song. Great job. :-)
Dear M and everyone- After a month since I posted this video, I just wanted to say how happy I am about the feedback and responses. I welcome any messages and comments, and will always try to respond. I am finishing a self-made CD, should be done in less than a month
Great job! I like your version! Yeah, when I performed Iowa, I think the audio was meant for electric guitars, so it ended up sounding kind of telephone-like. But yes, I am playing solo.
Wonderful cover here dude!!
