this is a firme ass rolla, RIP Freddie Gorman and C.P Spencer, CP was an original member of The Spinners, This group began as Ty Hunter & The Voicemasters, earlier members included Ty Hunter, Lamont Dozier, David Ruffin, by 1965 They changed thier name to The Originals, it was Freddie, CP, Walter Gaines, Hank Dixon ( Brother of George Dixon of The Spinners) and Joe Stubbs (brother of Levi of The Four Tops) joe left to join The Contours leaving them a quartet
its vary vary hard to find this stuff. i used to have the whole box set of the east side story i bought at a yard sell a few years back but it got solen from me. left it in my aunts car, i was pissed! didnt even to listin to all of them.
I can remember vividly going to a African American Festival in downtown Cleveland, Ohio when I was about 12 years old, and saw a group called Gregory and the Montclairs performing this song. When I saw them up on that stage, I knew what I wanted to do from that point on... singing became the most important thing in my life after that. (They were fantastic, too! They added their own touches to it and made the song their own!)
this song makes me want to turn on my tv, make a sandwich, and eat it standing on my hand while my dog rolls a fat one. roll, baby, roll. -jim morrison
I havent heard this song in ages. I thought I was the only one alive who remembered it. Thanks for posting it. Reminds me of a girl I dated back then who later became my wife. We would slow dance to that record for days.
