Don't mean to butt in but Underoath is just another part of the hardcore genre. And as far as punk genre, if you think screamo doesn't hit that genre then you should check out the band Endless Hallway, there songs Cell and Solvency are good examples :P But Ogopogoace is absolutely right about multiple genre classifying. Fever Ray is folf, electro-acoustic, and black metal.. Regardless, it shouldn't matter cuz this is a damn good song so enjoy it :)

I'm sorry, but you seriously need to rethink this. heaviness? you, my friend, clearly have never listened to any ACTUAL metal music. this is not heavy. not even remotely. and screaming spans several musical genres, not the least of which is punk. I do not know exactly how I'd classify Underoath, but metal is CERTAINLY not correct.

Actually I do listen to what you would Consider actual metal KSE Lambofgod Cob and all those bands , HOWEVER go listen to heart of stone or desperate times desperate measures theres so many songs, Underoath may have some songs that have punk undertones to them however in general the majority of their music is fairly metalish and would therefore qualify as a metal band than a punk band it may be metal and something else such as metalcore however metal is defenitely part of underoaths defenition

I would say that, if anything, Underoath has metal undertones, but primarily satisfies a different musical genre. again, even metalcore is defined as combining aspects of both "extreme metal" and "hardcore punk," neither of which is really apparent in underoath's style.

Various parts of the music can be said to reflect metal style, and more often can be said to have heavy punk influences, but underoath is FAR from being well-rooted in either of these genres. It is not hardcore in the least, and like I said before, the heaviness simply isn't present. go find some real technical metal, and come back once you have.

The drummer is Aaron Gillespie. He does back-up vocals.

The lead singer/screamer is Spencer.

Aaron does have another band where he is the lead singer. Its called "The Almost" :)
