This was not a fuel dump. I know what this was, it is simply a dual engine test from a smaller jet engine company. The two motors where attached to the tips of a boeing 777-301er and where currently doing high altitude tests at the time this video was taken. The smaller contrails are made by the jets being tested on the tips. anyways if this was indeed a fuel dump, then it would not be visible because at the altitude and speed the fuel would be vaporized almost imideitly

@eclipse245 grade A jet fuel doesn't freeze until about -126.8f. Because think about it, If jet fuel froze at whatever the temperatures where at around this plane when the video was taken, then the fuel would also freeze inside of the wings where it is stored. If it did that then the wings would crack and break.

@lufthansa330pilot Jet A freezes at -40 C. At cruise altitudes temps can go down to -70C if not lower than that.

So Yeah it would freeze :)

That a 777,you can see the two massive engines giving the 2 large contrails in the middle, also the fuel dump for a 777 is about half way between the engine and the wing tip which explains why there are 2 smaller contrails which is the fuel dump.

Fuel dumps happen mostly at the wingtips, not in the center.

@bartdereu no, it is never an MD-11!! you can see four trails! the two trails at the center are from the two engines, and yes, you're right, fuel dumps mostly happen at the wingtips, and it is the same here. (?)

@nielscarp thanks! well I dont know for sure, but if you look close you recognize that it is a two-engine airliner, the two inner trails come out of the engines and the other trails come up at the wings. and what else can it be but fuel?

@TunikaJonas I also think it's fuel, and it no B-52 which have really weird contrails because they have 8 engines..

I live close to the German border in the south of The Netherlands and all the planes departing from Frankfurt on route to America fly over my village! So when they fly over they are at aprox 20000 feet excellent for spotting!

@TunikaJonas I dont have a video camera :D, I do own a Samsung Galaxy S2 which can capture 1080p video but it's unable to zoom very far. I'll try to make some pictures in a few days!
