@packr72 Not to mention the pilot's who flew the YAK-9 wernt well trained like the WW2 vetren P-51 pilot's and the rookies under there command.Mainly until the Russian pilot's flew there MiG-15s for korea the numbers of losses rose for us.Thank's to the F-86 that number went down.In the hands of a skilled pilot the P-51 can shoot down almost anything from WW2 planes to post WW2 subsonic fighter jets.
@1bearcatf8f the yaks overall were good low level aircraft, and actually there weren't many ww2 veterans flying from the beginning of korea, but usaf training was better, in a turning fight the p51 could take on the mig and sabre and probally win a low speed turning fight, just like they did against the me262
@packr72 Some russian WW2 vet pilot's flew the MiG-15s for NK.The P-51 pilot's were trained to use altitude as a form of speed.thats how P-51s downed ME-262s aside from shooting them on takeoff's and landings.
