  • Many years since I heard this. Thanks. Happy days.

  • Real Soul from a real soul singer.I first heard this when i was 12.It was already 5 years old,but it didn't matter,it was fresh to me then!!!!!!D'ya get that every one? Do ya?FRESH.Still is! We live again through the music! Love and peace

  • spanish city whiley bay what memories x

  • pure perfection gets me everytime cant just listen to it once x

  • One of the best songs ever x

  • This is the first time I've heard the original Marvin Gaye version. More upbeat than Paul Young's version.

  • Paul young and marvin gaye both do a great job with the song , you can't compare because each version was from different era's.

  • I Prefer Paul Youngs version, it has more depth and feeling, for me anyways, Marvin is a Legend though!! Heard it through the grapevine is the ONE

  • Clearly under-produced and overall effect is underwhelming. Still a great song though.

  • great

  • Total classic from the man with the voice of an angel

  • wow. this sounds awful but i never knew this was the original

  • @cm1179 You need to unblock your lugholes and tune into the soul of the great Marvin.

  • class xx

  • paul youngs verson just as good different and original now days when pop singers cover a tune they just do a bland imitation free of any soul

Gaye and Young both have a lot of soul this verson is more up beat and light hearted Youngs is more tragic and down beat both are timeless and will still stand out 100000 years from now

  • Gotta love anything Marvin Gaye sings. We need to show folks these days this kind of music, so they know what real music sounds like.

  • Reminds me of the Cellar Bar in Bradford getting ready to set off to the Casino in Wigan.

  • Reminds me of the Cellar Bar in Bradford before setting off to The Casino in Wigan.

  • aka (that's my home) thx

  • very quickly before I get in even more trouble....... :)

  • I like Paul Young's version better, this one is too upbeat. Young knows how to make an amazing song cover like with Everytime You Go Away

  • amazing song

  • this was always my favourite version

  • I heard Paul Young's version it is terribly boring. Paul Williams of the Tempts did way better on this song. Marving Gaye did an amazing verion of the song its one of my favorites on his Stubborn Kinda Fellowa album

  • @TheMotownjunkie except it has one of the best bass lines....ever....pino palladino is why his version is good

  • @TheMotownjunkie did sam cooke do this song?

  • Young sounds constipated on every song he sang. Sounds like he is in immense pain. Marvin had far more range than Young.

  • quality tune, r, i ,p marvin gaye

  • pure pure class.. takes me back to my youth club days ...honest

  • My favourite Marvin Gaye track by a mile.

  • Wiked Version, nice post :)

  • it's been a while since i've heard this song, thx for posting

  • You're very welcome, glad you like this original.

  • WHY THE HELL ISN'T THIS VERSION MORE POPULAR?! Paul young can go shove seven pringles tubes up his ass

  • I agree, this is much better (can we eat the pringles before shoving the tubes up PY...lol)

  • @I agree, the reason it wasn,t popular was because it was the b side of too busy thinking bout my baby.YCSMusic

  • @YCSMusic I agree the reason it wasn,t popular was cos it was the b side of too busy thinking bout my baby.

  • @Stiletto92 you are on crack if you think this version is better than Paul Young's. Not a snowball's chance in hell...

  • @Stiletto92

Disagree. Young's version atmospheric sound more fits the lyrics.

  • @Stiletto92 ...god wasnt it shameful when paul young recorded this classic.....

  • @spiritladysoul thats the modern world for ya !

  • @Stiletto92 marvin is way better singer no contest, but this song just jumps up like a happy regae sing a long song, somehow the music does no match the words wheras Pauls version is much more mellow. I think Marvin would like Pauls version if he heard it. RIP.

  • @Stiletto92 The bass is 1100x times better in Paul version
