Exactly. Watch when he opens the Developer's Console. The pause menu says Portal. Anyone with Portal and HL2 can do this. Use GCFscape to extract the maps and scenes folders from "half-life 2 content.gcf" into your "steamapps/username/portal/por­tal" folder. Then use the Console to manually load the first map of HL2. it wont work unless you entirley rebuild the game, Portal uses a diffrent version of the Source Physics Engine than half life 2 because of the gravity shift when you walk thru portals. Also, the commands you used do not exist in Half Life 2, only portal.

Hi fedew, thank you for asking. you extract the maps folder from half life 2 content.gcf into the portal/portal directory, and then the scripts folder from source engine.gcf into the portal/portal directory as well. If this doesnt help, just comment again, and I will be more detailed. :)
