I'm sad I don't know my great-grandmother's languange, but this version is more understandable and beautiful. I like this over the enlish version, which I'm very suprised by, but with a beautiul languange like Dutch its no wonder.

It's called: Dat is mijn wens. What means: That is my wish.

I like the dutch over the english, but they're both beautiful. But for example in the reprise in dutch she sings "Tot op het einde blijf ik je trouw" (I will stay loyal to you until the end), where as in english she sings something like "What if we could stay all day in the sun".

But hey, who cares, no need to choose. Both versions rock, and I listen to em every day =)

I love this version, I don't know any Dutch but I think it's a very pleasant-sounding language. (I'm on a bit of a Little Mermaid kick this week. Maybe I'm reliving my childhood, I don't know. I saw this movie twenty years ago in the theater, when I was ten, and it's been one of my all-time favorites ever since.)

A little update: I'm currently learning Dutch (mostly just to be able to read/understand it) on LiveMocha. :D Right now I'm only on stuff like "De vrouw is groot" (the woman is tall) and "Het huis is rood" (the house is red) but I figure eventually I'll be able to understand a lot more than I do right now, which is practically nil.

@MysticalChicken "De vrouw is groot" is actually not "The woman is tall" but rather, "The woman is big". If you want to say "the woman is tall" it would be "De vrouw is lang" :)

I would say that when translating "de vrouw is groot" as "the woman is big", it is implied that next to tall, she is also overweight, wich is not necessarily what "groot" means in Dutch. I would say that "the woman is tall" is a perfectly acceptable translation of "de vrouw is groot" and "de vrouw is lang".

That version sounds very good. I was surprised how much I actually did understand of the lyrics XD. It's similar to German, but it does definitely have its differences.

Anyway, I like this version. Very beautiful.

Yeah Dutch and English come from German so we three have some of the same words.

I think Dutch and English sound the most alike then we sound a little like German. If you listen to some Disney songs in Dutch you can hear English words here and there!!!

That's a beautiful version, but actually dutch sounds kinda funny to me X3 Anyway, I even understood most of the lyrics without the translation, because some of the words really sound exactly like in the German version^^
