I was in a packed bar in Dublin having a merry time with the locals (Who made me feel right at home thousands of miles away!) At one point someone asked me what I thought of U2... At first I felt my truthful answer would upset many of the lads and lassies, however up until this point I had cast no falsities in my character and was accepted well. So I then said "FUCK U2!" and everyone cheered!

@dellcamwall I agree that the Arctic Monkeys were very young to be headlining Glastonbury and I am a huge fan of theirs, love how they've progressed since their debut. Julian Casablancas is awesome at looking moody and wearing leather jackets I'll concede but he doesn't interact with the crowd very much, Ricky Wilson needs to lose some weight, Brandon Flowers just shakes his hands like a spaz (although I love his music!), Matt Bellamy is decent, not many rock stars with a love of Doctor Who :)

@SuperSky1970 I dont know where you get your facts from mate ,but i work for UNHCR Ireland and in the 2009/2010 period we processed on average 30 applicants for asylum per month, about 20% of the applications recieved were denied or they didnt qualify for refugee status because they didnt meet the criteria ie didnt come from war torn countries or had no danger to their lives,so for you to say all ireland are rasict hypocrites kinda makes you a racist hypocrite..but then again what would i know
i am a u2 fan so this peformance was just a normal one,nothing really stood out but it was a good performance but not great.lets all face u2 are not the band they were and that band as gone....forever.but that's down to age of all things,bono was so active,agressive in the early days so much you couldnt take your eyes of him.they are a great band with great songs so lets enjoy the one band that just seem to keep going,well done lads.
Well I was there and the only disappointing things about the whole performance were the pissing rain and the rather odd positioning of Where The Streets Have No Name, where for me the band shot their bolt too early. Watched it with several people who weren't U2 fans and they really enjoyed it. Great to play so much Achtung Baby.

Absolute rubbish. When he came out on stage, Bono looked like he needed a piss, nervous & weak. The whole set for a great deal of disappointed viewers was a big anti-climax. Elbow totally killed it, amazing set, blew u2 out of the arena.

Not easy in the pissing rain when you're 50 yards from the crowd. U2 will be pleased to go back to their tour, the most successful in the history of music, outselling even the Rolling Stones. They hold a further record for having sold out every single show they've done in over 10 years. No other band in history has done that either.
Only the English, agreed by many bands to be the most boring rock crowd, like to whine about U2, everyone else in the world is delirious about them. Funny that.
I love U2 but Bono is just fucked in the head. He just doesn't seem to be able to talk and have a laugh like a normal person, he seems so different to everyone else in the band who are more down to earth.

Ireland was a tax haven for artists from all over the world up until 2005/06. I see nothing wrong with them moving their money out in 2005/06 a lot of other people did too. There was no recession in sight back then. The big horse breeders in Ireland still live in Ireland and pay no tax while earning millions every year. Anyway what a show.
I love that Bono knows the history of Glastonbury and the legend of Joseph of Arimathea travelling to England and planting his staff on Wearyall Hill. When he sang Jerusalem I was like "I wonder if he knows". And he does.

Not easy in the pissing rain when you're 50 yards from the crowd. U2 will be pleased to go back to their tour, the most successful in the history of music, outselling even the Rolling Stones. They hold a further record for having sold out every single show they've done in over 10 years. No other band in history has done that either.
Only the English, agreed by many bands to be the most boring rock crowd, like to whine about U2, everyone else in the world is delirious about them. Funny that.

Zane Lowe is such a self-important twat, his mutterings after the performance were just an attempt to keep his indie credibility, he's entitled not to like U2 but I can't stand this 'too cool for school' attitude that a lot of English indie music fans have ... just because a band is playing stadiums doesn't make them sellouts, at least U2 have the confidence and charisma to play to a large crowd, the Arctic Monkeys in '07 looked like shy schoolboys, there's no showmen in rock music these days

Ireland was a tax haven for artists from all over the world up until 2005/06. I see nothing wrong with them moving their money out in 2005/06 a lot of other people did too. There was no recession in sight back then. The big horse breeders in Ireland still live in Ireland and pay no tax while earning millions every year. Anyway what a show.

i agree with this comment. the edge says here 'we were a bit all over the shop'. larry apperars unhappy with how it went and indeed this was the case in my view. if you were there, this was a disappointing show, the band were tired, they cited jetlag during the show. it weas clear they were out of their depth at a festival.

i agree with larry the stage is way to off in the distance ,they should play no place like the dome best buzz total freedom and upclose and personnel only thing all bands must play free of charge but if they did this venue the experience of the irish version of the burningman would find something fresh into themselfs to give us the raw live u2 from the past which most agree needs a rebirth ,nomore big screens ,nomore 360 stuff back to basics boys, thin lizzy ,rory gallagher just the music

Ireland has a corporation tax (12.5%) which undermines the rest of Europe, I'm not complaining I'm Irish and I wouldn't begrudge anyone else to use the system in their favour, including U2. Anyway, they had a great performance, still one of the best live acts on the planet!!!
