  • It's not enough to say "Vote Ron Paul"

PEOPLE NEED TO SWITCH PARTIES 12 WEEKS IN ADVANCE OF THE PRIMARIES IN MOST STATES.

IF YOU DO NOT SWITCH IN TIME YOU CANNOT VOTE IN PRIMARY.

IF YOU ARE NOT REGISTERED REPUBLICAN YOU CANNOT VOTE IN PRIMARY.

IF RON PAUL DOES NOT WIN PRIMARY, NO GENERAL ELECTION ! REGISTER AS A REPUBLICAN. FIND OUT WHEN YOUR STATE HAS PRIMARIES. FIND OUT WHERE AND VOTE VOTE VOTE ! PLEASE !

WE NEED EVERY LAST VOTE ! Copy & paste this everywhere and THUMBS UP!

  • I adapted both of my cars to run on natural gas(CNG). It only costs $1.25 per gallon here in Utah. Plenty of CNG fueling stations in Utah, Los Angeles, and Oklahoma. I don't care what happens to gasoline prices now because I don't have much need for gasoline anymore.

  • how about lowering the damn tax on gas and the profit for oil companies.....

  • This video was made pre deep sea horizon (2010) interesting how things change

  • Oh my, has he ever changed his tune - he's into "renewables" and climate change now. Seems to me if Saudi Arabia was going to blackmail us, they'd have done so by now.

  • from what he says i think hes the man the usa needs as president

  • lol

    hahahahh

    dead wrong in public again...

  • Gingrich is total slime! He'd sell his mom for a buck!

  • Sooo let's hear what this numbskull has to say about offshore drilling now. Or not.

  • I'm the real imbecile is a dufus.

  • @skimboardmonster yes you are...coward

  • So Newts friends at Big Oil will sell us oil cheeper than the market rate ?

LMAO....there is a sucker born every minute.

  • This country is behind the times. We will be back to horse and buggy. We need to drill. Other countries are drilling and laughing at us. The green agenda is killing the economy.

  • @skimboardmonster "The green aginda is killing us"? You dumb fuck, its saving the motherfucking planet which is primairly killed by green house gas which comes primarily from machines that use oil you retarded son of a bitch.

    .

You had 2 oil men in the White House with Bush & Cheney . Did that save your dumb ass when the gas prices were the highest in the nation's history? Huh motherfucker?

  • @ImTheRealBarackObama You are an angry person. Liberals drove the price up to $4 a gallon by not drilling. Bush lifted the ban in 2008 and the prices dropped immediately. Of course, that's not told on every news channel. Our national security and economy depends on drilling. For every green job created, 2.4 jobs are lost. 5% unemployment under Bush, now 10% and rising.

  • @skimboardmonster Bush came to office n 2000 not 2008. Offshore oil drilling doesn't affect gas prices for a minimum of 4 years, so either you lied about prices dropping immediately, or you are incredibly stupid. Gas prices dropped in 2008 because Bush lead America into a recession you dumb fuck. Prices fall in a recession. That led to the massive job loss & the 1st "bailout package" under Bush. You have know idea what you're talkin about you ignorant motherfucker. Hail to the Motherfuckin Chief

  • @ImTheRealBarackObama You're an imbecile. Your can't even argue intelligently without being an angry jackass. Even the talk of drilling will drop the prices when other countries realize we are serious. It happened in the 80s too. Do you realize how stupid you sound supporting an administration that is economy and job killing. You have to be real dumb to still blame it on Bush. What happened to hope and change?

  • @skimboardmonster You haver to be a fool to think anyone one can change 8 years of dumbass republican jackass policies in 1 year, fool! It took Bush 3 1/2 years to run through the Clinton surplus, and another 2 to lead America into a recession.

    .

The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, $288 billion tax cut which gave us the lowest tax rate in 53 years, credit card reform, health care reform, Cash for Clunkers, no more torture. THIS IS THE HOPE & CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN MOTHERFUCKERS...!!!

  • We need off shore drilling. Newt 2010.

  • Good idea Newt!!! Of course...CONSERVING is completely out of the question. Lets drill, its perfectly safe!

  • Tar and Feather

  • How's that drilling working out these days, on the Gulf Coast for example?

  • @cinqtimoney Aside from a total collapse of the fishing industry and tourism industry, it's doing just great. I guess a dead economy doesn't matter when we've got oil. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone learned anything seeing as how they're already calling for more drilling.

  • Or maybe we could find alternative energy sources beside biomass and ethanol and stop harming the environment with offshore drilling. The oil spill that recently happened out on Louisiana is supposed to reach fragile wetlands and beaches in Florida soon. What more proof do you need to know that offshore drilling is bad?

  • But now, an explosion on an offshore oil rig has unlocked that energy and an oil slick the size of West Virginia is now headed toward Louisiana! Good work, Newt!

  • We need to build more nuke plants, drill for oil here and base some of our dollar on the oil reserves we have. For those that believe that we need to use "new technology" , we don't have it yet and our economy is tanking. We are destroying ourselves before our very eyes!

  • Since we have the internet and cell phones, we should not need to drive all over the place as often and we might need less oil.

All the energy has not been squeezed out of biological waste. Try bio-gas first.

  • i agree with this guy..im glad someone in this country still knows something Americans want

  • If you think drilling here is going to change anything (quit listening to political propaganda and think for yourself), you are completely and utterly unaware of the problems we face.

And only idiots and fools allow themselves to be duped by The GC Marxhall instittute, Exxon and BuCheney - even though they have ZERO evidence to support their economic/political agenda.

  • You'd think people who pride themselves and believing in market capitalism wouldn't have to be taught economics 101 by liberals. In order to have the price of oil drop in America you would have to dump enough surplus on the planet to depress the global price. This is utterly laughable. All it would take would be a minor reduction in OPEC output to negate any American influence. Oh, but I forgot there's more oil in Alaska than the rest of the world combined.

  • coal to liquid fuels. if it worked for nazi germany during ww2, while they were geting bombed, we should be able to do it too

  • Have you looked at the energy returned on energy invested for coal-to-liquids? It's all thermodynamics: We built this modern world on a 100:1 energy return from energy invested and are now getting down to the 20:1 or 11:1 level. Think about it.

  • Hey, guess what ... we DIDN'T drill here, we DIDN'T drill now, and we ARE PAYING LESS!!

...You bunch of crackpots were trying to exploit an easy wedge issue, but the market showed what a bunch of clowns you are.

  • Bullshit! You are stupid for arguing that energy is bad! The Middle East, Brazil, Canada, have all gotten rich off the retarded American energy policies!!!

  • Canada hasn't gotten rich. Alberta and oil companies have gotten rich.

  • Saskatchewan and Manitoba have massive shale oil operations on the way that blow away the tar sands in magnitude, not to mention the conventional oil that's going to be explored in the Arctic. Quebec and Ontario are poor right now because they're one step away from becoming completely Socialist, their economies are basically centrally controlled, it's impossible to start up a small business by yourself.

  • Shale oil is a joke like hydrogen fuel. Think about it intuitively. The idea of getting oil out of sand sounds reasonable at the right price signals. The idea of getting oil (not oil but a precursor of oil, kerogen) out of rock is just laughable. You could just take all that energy needed for extraction and put it into the electrical grid and simply drive an electric car.

  • Actually there was some new in situ process using directional drilling that can apparently do it for a practical cost as a long term project.

  • I'll before I believe that you can extract oil from rock, I'll believe Americans will drive electric cars, move closer to work and take public transit. It takes a helluva lot less energy and exertion to use less oil than it does to find new supplies. Driving a little 4 cylinder beer can of a car costs a third as much to buy and a third as much to run as a SUV. Of course we keep hearing about the massive costs of scaling back oil usage. Massive costs to the oil companies, more like.

  • The claim 'you can't innovate new energy sources' has been proven wrong by Canada where we've proven it absolutely is possible. You just explained exactly what oil companies do with their extra money - they invest it in better technologies and new sources of oil, this is exactly why the market is entirely self correcting.

  • Back in the political oil shocks of the 70's, if the Saudi's wanted to they could flood the market with oil simply by opening up the tap. With sources like tar sands, the billion dollar facilities cannot increase supply without years of construction and investment. Hard to develop sources like deep water and sour heavy oil make the oil supply catastrophically unelastic. The second there is a 2 percent excess of demand over supply the price will skyrocket and take years to come down.

  • Yeah they are lower now, He is talking about stabilizing them.

  • There's a reason the planet is the way it is having all these fuels locked away for hundreds of millions of years. Scientists tell us the atompshere once was very CO2 rich. 2 Billion years of oxygenic photosynthesis, carbon sequestration, and now we think we can release all these fuels for our energy consumption. Never mind this planet is our one and only life raft within the nearest ohhh, too damn many light years thats for sure. Newt sounds like a smart guy. Drill baby drill! Dig baby dig!

  • What a load of CRAP!

Offshore-drilling won't do anything to help Americans. Oil-companies already have several leases that they haven't explored yet.

When they don't have any more leases to explore, then they can whine for offshore-drilling.

I think it's time we started thinking about the "Supply and Demand"-thing. If Americans did several small tiny things to lower their use of gas, the demand would go down, and the supply wouldn't seem to be running so short.

  • What is really amazing is the sheer number of unexplored leases they have in the Gulf of Mexico. What are they waiting for? Well, obviously they are waiting for the price of oil to go up and not come down for a long time. The 20 dollar a barrel oil in the 1990s really put a damper on investment. That having been said, Gulf oil output would have a negligiable effect on global prices.

  • I sould hope we can get off of oil before that oil is out of the gound. Lower gas prices in 10 years don't help today. Newt, how much is the OIL companies paying you?

  • Has Newt had a near deathh experience that has changd him and we're now supposed to trust that he isn't jsut looking out for Big Business anymore? Come on, this will not make for any cheaper prices at the pumps. It is contraryu to basic economics - WAKE UP! You're getting reamed!

  • Newt Gingrich was actively fucking his mistress unknown to his wife while he took the high horse trying to bring down Bill Clinton by forcing him to talk about his private sex life under oath.

I call Newt a pig because he resembles one and wallows in his own desires and ambitions. Remember his 'Contract ON America'? What a dangerous selfish clown. What an embarrassment to the state of Georgia

  • I'm clueless as to why some Americans aren't furious that we rely on other countries (countries we can't trust) to be our source? we're the hell is our pride?

We need to develop more ways to provide ourselves with energy resources and stop relying on others. It's obvious.

  • They still will never tell you to go to w w w . 2008-gas-saver . c o m

  • While I agree with some of Newt's thoughts, the 'drill here drill now' argument is bogus.

Unlike countries such as Brazil and Venezuela which have nationalized oil companies, drilling in the US is privatized, and is mainly performed by the six big 'super major' oil companies (aka Big Oil). Three of these companies (BP, Shell, and Total) are foreign owned.

Any oil they get from US land is simply sold on the global oil market, it doesn't go into some special 'USA only' supply.

  • Majority of Americans support the Republican Party for more oil supply, more alternative energy, and less foreign oil dependency.

    McCain / Palin 08

  • YES!!! Myself, I'm a liberal, but I agree with you. More oil for now, but an investment in clean, alternative energy for the future! We need more people like you!

  • Since it's unlikely he's going to make that kind of money anywhere else in the world, it's pretty unlikely he's going to quit working for BP.

  • Do you want an Old "Senior Citizen" and a "Barbie Doll" in the White House?

A $408 Billion with a "B" deficit, from $1/gal gas to $4/gal gas, millions of cut jobs, millions of jobs sent overseas...all of this from 8 years of Republicans. Do you want it to get worse? Dont vote Republican! Ever!

Jenna! Call me and come visit ;)

  • You are confusing things that happen under an administration with cause and effect of long term government policies that have been implemented by liberals. Those policies or lack of have caused higher deficits and higher gas prices.

With free trade agreements, more jobs have been imported than exported. Google it.

You do not have a clue what you are talking about. No wonder you vote left.

  • 1.Private companies are going to own the oil, if we drill in US. they will sell the oil to who ever pay the highist.(like Asia and europe) so the oil that we drilled here may not even use in US. 2.when US drill the oil to lower the oil price, Russia and Arab country can cut down their production to keep the price high. So they can make the max profit and conserve their oil. 3.why do we want to help exxon to make more money? they already made $11.66 billion in 3 months. he might got pay by exxon

  • Visit: Car Fuel Water. We are FREE at last.

You may open the present now.

  • People seem to think that the only thing driving the price of gas is greedy oil companies. It's not that simple or dramatic.

The real problem is raising demand in developing economies, such as China, who's oil consumption has nearly doubled over the past decade, while global production struggles to keep up.

It's supply and demand. When the demand goes up, it strains the supply, and prices go up. That's why we need to increase our supply by drilling our own oil offshore and in the ANWR.

  • Also, this isn't about the left-wing, it's about doing what's morally right. Maybe the so-called (and self-annointed) party of Christian family values should try doing whats's right instead of what's profitable.

  • geez it looks like you hit a nerve with that comment, keep it up. i watch soooo many "well meaning christians" live lives of excess and their ostentatious actions make me want to gag.

  • Hey, Thanks alot,I really appreciate it!!! In my comments I know I've kind of been a dick myself, but I really do want people to realize that we have to think beyond ourselves and our wallets, and realize that the pollution we release hurts our fellow people and future generations, since fossil fuel byprodcts are proven carcinogens. I just don't understand how people can call themselves Christians when they see nothing wrong with pollutig the world God gave us andshare with others. It's selfish!

  • Seriously, can you HONESTLY say that it's not a huge sin against God and our kids to pollute the world!? I suppose you won't be happy till we're all on oxygen masks with Albuterol inhalers. Dumb and selfish are the only ways to describe people who want more oil w/o solutions.

  • I really have no problem with drilling for more oil. My problem is that our government gives tax breaks to oil companies, and we inveat almost nothing in clean and renewable energies. I would fully support drilling for more oil if we revoked the oil co. tax breaks and invested that money into finding alternative energies, and made developing clean energy the main focus of our energy plan.

  • I swear, ya'll must have a combined I.Q. of 50, or just no moral concience at all. Myself, I'd like to leave future generations with a clean and healthy planet. If air pollutants break down so rapidly, then why is air quality so low, and asthma and cancer rates so high in more polluted areas? But go ahead, believe the right-wing propaganda.

  • Your morals are just yours...don't assign other people your skewed perception. And about the I.Q.? Judging from your spelling and dictation, I might could take you.

  • We need to do all we can to find alternative energy that's clean so that we don't leave a polluted palnet for the future. I'm fine w/ drilling for more oil as a temp solution, so long as we also invest in clean energy. I don't see what is so wrong w/ that idea? It gives us energy now, and, hopefully, a clean, less polluted future. I said some pretty mean things in my previous comments.I'm sorry.

  • That's right. Human activity accounts for only 3% of the CO2 in the air, and the rest of it comes from decaying plants, volcanoes, and the ocean. What are you gonna do? Ban plants, volcanoes, and the ocean?

And even if we do explore new forms of energy, it'll take too long and cost too much. We need energy now, and that's why we need to drill, at least until we come up with an alternative.

These environmentalists need to learn to compromise.

  • Are you serious!!? The emmissions of oil are proven cancer causing agents, and cause a number of other health problems. We need to invest in clean, alternative fuel as our main focus on energy. It's the epitome of selfishness to continue to spew carcinogens into the air just so that we can pay less at the pump. GET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT, AMERICA!!!!!!!

  • lol yall are fucked. my family invested in the gas stock market and boom, and plus as a primary, we get 75% off gas at shell

  • I agree. Less people believe it everyday. Keep fighting the good fight my friend.

  • You guys are almost unbelievable. Even Bush believes in global warming.

  • To each their own. However, the theory is losing steam at an incredible rate here in America. This is mainly due to the type of people (politicians, celebrities, academics) who forward it. They are generally hypocritical elites who preach to us "little people" about the way we should live. Meanwhile, they fly around the world in their own passenger jets and run up $10,000 per month power bills. AGW is very much a "let them eat cake" theory that makes the working class resentful.

  • Get free gas at gasraffle(dotnet - sponsors wanted.

  • "Oil is a renewable, primordial soup continually manufactured by the Earth under ultrahot conditions and tremendous pressures. As this substance migrates toward the surface, it is attached by bacteria, making it appear to have an organic origin dating back to the dinosaurs." (Dr. Thomas Gold, founding director of Cornell University Center for Radiophysics and Space Research)

Sun Aug 10, 3:26 PM ET

BAGHDAD - Iraq and China are set to revive a $1.2 billion oil deal that was canceled after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion, the Iraq's oil ministry said Sunday.

    ..............................................

    uh wtf lol

  • hers what you get from Obama. Nancy Pelosi says we are in a crisis, but wont drill.

Obama ays we are in a crisis but wont drill.

Nancy Pelosi says to take from the Strat oil Res. Obama says same thing now. This is living proof who will control our country, That is classic monkey see monkey do. The Strat.Oil Res. is for incase the worlds oil production is totally shut off. That oil would go to the military to defend this country you fucking retards!

  • Google this: Foxnews President George H.W. Bush issued a parallel executive drilling ban in 1990, which was extended by President Clinton and then by the current president until 2012

Youtube won't allow me post this link!

  • Prices will go up if one of the following happens,

    1. A major hurricane in the Gulf shuts down platforms or refineries

2 Shipping blocked in the Strait of Hormuz because of incident with Iran.

    3. Bernake starts cutting interest rates causing pressure on the dollar forcing it lower.

If these don't happen then in a month oil will be under $100/barrel. Bush's announcement is not a factor except to the simple minded.

  • ok against my better judgement.... The price of oil dropped because of a drop in demand and fears about a further erosion of the US economy adding to continue to reduce the demand. That's from business and economic reports and economists comments, NOT from talking heads on CSPAN or other TV. Trying turning off the boob tube and do some reading for a change. Speculators are trying to judge future supply.

  • only an idiot would keep posting such nonsense without actually referring to the data. I have the data in front of me and you are simply wrong, but you are right it is retarded to keep wasting my time arguing with an idiot.

  • kbs1138: I have the "data" in front of me. Read your retarded post before this one. Did I EVER say the announcement did anything to the supply? Any retard would know that.

I guess kbs1138 knows more than all of the economists on C-Span, etc. If that's what makes you feel better about having a teenie-weenie brain, so be it.

  • You are assuming that speculators are idiots that don't understand anything about the economics. Your are assuming that they are too stupid to see through Bush's grandstanding and not understand that his announcement has zero effect on current supply, zero effect on future supply without a series of other steps happening. They know the numbers. Pointing to coincidences in highly volatile market just proves your ignorance.

  • and by the way in the last 7 months there have been at least FIVE times that the oil prices dropped for a series of days like occurred in July before the price shooting back up.

  • kbs1138: We're talking about the price per barrell 7 months prior....it continued to hover or go above that amount. It dropped BELOW that previous price per barrell after the lift.

  • July 15th "Oil prices plunged today as worries about the nation's economic health moved to the fore and OPEC warned that high pump prices are likely to erode global demand for crude." Again, only an idiot thinks it was about Bush's pandering to morons like you.

  • And only an idiot would post info they know nothing about & try to pretend they understand what it means.

Again, let's see. Exactly what person with 1/2 a brain believe that for 218 days, the price of oil increases (due to futures/commodities). Then, on day 219 Bush lifts a ban. Day 220, the prices drop for the first time.

I'm sorry to make fun of your stupidity but you started the name calling while I was trying to debate respectfully.

    Therefore, fairgame. kbs1138 = Retard

  • Official 2007 assessment produced by the Energy Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Energy: about ANWR - under best-case scenarios, it would take 10 years to start production and the average net drop in price would be about 86 cents per barrel. Government's most optimistic estimate is that peak ANWR production would be less than 1 percent of total world oil output. The government admits that foreign-oil dependence would decrease only slightly, between the years 2022 and 2026.

  • kbs1138: You're not understanding. It has NOTHING to do with how long it takes to get the oil, nor what it will be priced at when we do get it.

There is an IMMEDIATE effect on prices because of futures / speculation. That is the key to what makes the price per barrel go up & down. Which is EXACTLY why prices dropped the day after Bush lifted the ban.

  • ANWR first. We put the caribou above the economy and income of the entire state of Florida, by drilling off their coast, when we can tap a tiny section of a vastly abandoned plain??? What is wrong with this picture. WAKE UP AMERICA !!!!

  • **Newsflash**

Call (202) 225-0100 !!! That's Nancy Pelosi's line. Tell her to get off her ass and come back to work!!

  • What's funny is the price of gas is falling for the simple reason that consumption has dropped. Suppliers in Texas are saying at the end of summer the price is expected to drop below $3/gallon. Price goes up, people drive less, buy smaller more fuel efficient cars, use alternatives like mass transport more. No need to drill in environmentally sensitive areas for oil that won't add to the supply for several years and even then won't reduce the price significantly if at all then.

  • Yea right. And gas prices fell coincidentally the day after Bush lifted the ban after 7 months. LMAO

  • Only an idiot thinks Bush's symbolic lifting of his Dad's ban had any real effect.

  • Let's see who the idiot is here:

-Oil prices rise for 7 straight months

    -Bush lifts the ban

-The VERY NEXT DAY, oil prices drop for the first time in 7 months.

Coincidental?? LMAO. I believe you're the idiot & 70% of America would agree w/that. Where are your credentials in oil commodities, futures, etc. that surpass those of top economists?

Who cares about George H.W.? Does it piss you lefty-whackos off that you can no longer make the claim Bush does what daddy wants him to do?

  • The point that a lot of you are missing is that he does believe in alternative sources of fuel, and I totally agree with that point, but we have not found an efficient source thus far. Like he said, short-term, we can relieve some of the pressure on gas consumers by drilling here while also continuing to research and experiment with alternative sources.

  • Don't you ever get tired of always being wrong, Newtie?

  • Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill Drill and after that drill

  • This whole thing is political theatre!!! Don't you see? The republicans know that drilling won't bring down the price of gas..they're just trying to save their seats this fall. Think about it..Why would the oil companies sell us cheap oil when we'll gladly pay over $120 dollars a barrel? And don't listen to him when he talks about shale oil because the only way oil companies can profit from shale oil is if they sell it for $130 a barrel...I for one would want the price a little lower.

  • Bullshit. Simple supply and demand. You can bet your ass drilling will lower the price of gas, even drastically. If there is a surplus of oil it won't be as valuable and will result in cheaper gas. Saying we can't drill our way out of this crisis is akin to saying we can't feed ourselves out of famine. Public pressure for unrestricted drilling is making oil go down because of speculation. I want cheap gas and I could care less about "going green" or saving some damn endangered insect.

  • The more you drill, the more opec will cut back on production. The other problem is that there isn't that much oil under the ground that is drillable. The u.s. has about 2% of the worlds supply, which would last 11 years at current levels of consumption. I think drilling is a good idea, but by itself it won't make a difference at the pumps. Unlike growing crops for food, oil is non-renewable. Opec doesn't want to see cheap oil.

  • We have available options if opec decides to cut back production. They depend on our commodities and defenses, just as we depend on their oil. Are you saying oil is not renewable? It's continually being made under our feet. Oil reserves are regenerating all the time. Consequently, there is no definitive amount of oil to be explored. Drilling, by itself in older caches, would make a significant difference for the UNITED STATES to the tune of about 3 million barrels a day. Fucktard.

  • Excellent rebuttal raughwe. Douche doesn't know what he's talking about.

  • Yeah! See, this Rob guy is Canadian!!! And even though they are mostly homosexual, they are really smart. Although they are, on the whole, homosexual.

  • Stank, my friend, that is not totally true. Rob's mom takes it in the ass like a "typical male homosexual" but she is, in fact, heterosexual. At least she was a few minutes ago. Maybe your right...

  • V CHILD GAS TANK

    SEARCH V CHILD GAS TANK

  • Don't you mean "on the hole" homosexual?

  • Let's look at the way you started your paragraph: "YOUR A FUCKING IDIOT". Do you mean, "YOU'RE (you are) A FUCKING IDIOT"? Example: Your writing needs work because you're (you are)a canadian, butthumping, cumguzzling son of a whore. What was that about grade 6?

  • FUCK yea ivanbunny25 you are totally right. We need to think about the future of not only America but the world. We need to get away from dependency as well as oil.

  • The republicans ran all three branches of government most of this decade and now all of the sudden it's a crisis? Now they want to do something? Come on this is bullshit, nothing will come of it. We should be looking to the future and moving away from fossil fuels anyway. For years renewables have been treated as a side show, a cute fuzzy step child to "real" energy. I just wonder if the government had put the same priority on renewables years ago that it does on wars how far we would be today.

  • Real men pay 6$/gallon for gasoline!

    So what are you?!

  • Fighting for fuel independence.

  • Fuel independence? Frick... ignorance... Explain to me where the US is going to get 15 million barrels a day of oil... We produce 5 million and use 20 million.... WAKE UP. Fuel independence is a political game of BULL EXCREMENT. Energy independence? OK. ALTERNATIVES. (In thirty years.) Fuel independence? IMPOSSIBLE.

    Wake up.

  • First of all, kkob, sorry for not replying sooner (didn't check back). As of 2004 the US oil consumption was somewhere over 20 million barrels of oil per day and about 11.9 million barrels per day was obtained from foreign sources (i.e. we produce more than 5 million per day). There are numerous measures that could be taken that could reduce this rate. How about we get our military out of the wars we are in and back to peace time consumption. That would save us 40 million barrels a year.

  • yeah the terrorist are gonna declare peace and never buther us again 'cuz we are paying too much for oil please give me a break.

  • I think if we just got out of the region things would be a whole lot better. If you would take note their whole beef was because we were originally in Saudi Arabia. Now we are in Iraq (and apparently for no really good reason). By the way, you have always been free to take a break. I couldn't possible get in your way.

  • If u pay a little attention the "beef" or in other words why they hate us have nothing to do with that. Alzawhahiri the right hand of Bin Laden keeps quoting hostorical facts from when the spaniards kicked out the last muslims from Spain. This guys have a grudge against all religions that is not theirs they think they are the new profets with a mandate to annihilate all non-muslims. Be my guest, keep thinking like that and you will find a big surprise.

  • I think these attacks against America all started when we established a military presence in Saudi Arabia. This started the WTC bombing in 1993 and then the Khobar tower bombing in 1996 not to mention the downing of a U.S. Blackhawk helicopter and the attack on the USS Cole. It has been documented that Bin Laden was upset about our presence in their holy land and this is the result. Anyway we are talking about independence from foreign oil not terrorist attacks. Drill here doesn't do that.

  • Fuel independence means just that, kkob: not dependent on fuel. Thus, the goal is to not need the 15 million barrels a day. It is not a farce if you are serious about it and you do not let the oil trust extinguish that goal (like they did some 30 years ago). It is not impossible since we are doing it now (ie. solar, nuclear, et. al.). I have been awake for the past 48 years. Where have you been?

  • If you would notice, due to the economic times we live in now, our fuel consumption has declined. It has been significant enough that the price of gasoline is now half of what is was a year ago and, if you would notice, nobody is talking about drilling here or drilling now right now.

  • According to a Bush Administration report...

Drilling in the Arctic Refuge would only lower gas prices by $0.04/gallon. And that's 20 years from now!

    watch?v=-WOqPQWY-iY

  • You're full of it. It just proves you can't "FIX SUTPID".

  • why is this such a big issue. drilling will bring the price of gas down maybe a few pennies globally in the next 10 years

  • I've heard the price problem is being caused by commodity speculation.

  • No Drilling = NO VOTE

    Send them packing in November

  • ethanol doesnt work scrap it use electricity or burn ocean water we have tons of that btw water can be burned

  • The man with a plan.....Where is the democrats plan?

  • Yeh, Newt you dumb fuck lizard. Let's use coal. More coal!!! Let's fuck the air up even worse. Let's use shale oil too. Let's turn the open ranges into shit. Yes! Let's use Brazil as an example. They are ruining everything in their country including the coasts. If the nation goes broke! Good! We will then turn to non-fossil fuel like the marvelous engines that need nothing of the likes of your PAC buddies. Fuck you very much. You freaking scumbucket who dumped your wife while she died of cancer.

Working Together for A Better America

    _

  • I can see by most of the ignorant comments above that you have your work cut out for you educating the "big oil" haters. Good luck!

  • they are trying to fool us by saying that if we drill here we get to keep the oil....America don't be fooled..the oil companies just want this land so they can hold on too it for 30 more years when everyone else runs out of oil and they will supply the world making them richer beyond belief. They have 68 million acres already they aren't drilling in and they want anwr and the coast under their control and they aren't even gonna drill those for 30 or 40 years

  • well your fucking idiot aren't you? if that shit land had any oil they would be drilling already! those oil company CEOs are 60 and 70 years old they want there money now not fucking 40 years from now, when theyre dead, like you claim! fucking dumbass.

  • Yes the liberal green democrats have left them with 68 million acres of useless land where it's not profitable to drill for oil because the geologists say there isn't any there. Any place the geologists and oil companies believe have oil are off limits. Again, because of the liberal democrat greenies that don't really want them to find any.

  • dude wake up..the only reason oil is high is because of speculation....this whole supply and demand thing is nothing but bs to fool ignorant voters. If drilling in Anwr and the coast would make a difference in the price...then how come china and brazil are drilling in new places everyday but the price doesn't change? Republicans have their money invested in oil and that is whats driving the price up....Its about to come down now because the democrats passed a bill to stop speculators.

  • Do you honestly claim to know what the price of oil would be if china and brazil weren't producing any? Speculators can't permanently increase the price of oil. It all comes back to supply and demand. Basic economic principle that you obviously don't understand. Even if the price of oil weren't that much lower, do you understand the "Trade deficit" concept? Do you think we should be dependent on middle east countries that hate us for a basic building block of our economy?

  • China can't produce oil...they explore off of our coast now. They have no know oil deposits...that's why they are all over the world; drilling now. Only we are chumps. They'll drive their cars around and we'll be riding our bicycles.

  • Chinese oil stats from cia world fact book -

    Oil - production: 3.73 million bbl/day (2007 est.)

    Oil - consumption: 6.93 million bbl/day (2007 est.)

I agree though, we'd be fools not to use our own resources. It's estimated that we have 3x the oil of Saudi Arabia in places the green gestapo won't let us explore.

  • Newt...keep up the good work. With respect to the utter lack of understanding in this country about our energy policy history, how fuel is produced/sold with respect to the market place and general ignorance amongst too many Americans, I would encourage everyone to encourage Gingrich to lead a nationwide "town meeting" on a major network where Newt oversaw a group of real experts from industry, research etc. who could really enlighten what is a very, very ignorant nation today.

  • He wouldn't be able to do that-

    IEA 2004

"It is expected that the price impact of ANWR coastal plain production might reduce world oilprices by as much as 30 to 50 cents per barrel [in 2025]."

  • It would be wonderful if in 2025 we paying 30~50 cents less per barrel of oil than we were in 2004. This is NOT 2004. 2004 saw $30~60/barrel. I don't care if the price stays the same. The fact that US companies (w/taxes going to our treasury) receives $'s from our own oil is enough.

  • i drilled your wife's thingy

  • GO NEWT GO... DRILL HERE DRILL NOW!

  • This is not going to do anything except put money into the pockets of GW's friends.

  • riiiiiiight... so how do you suggest we lower the gas prices?? by not drilling?

  • We're not going to lower the price of oil but we can lower how much we spend on oil quite simply- Use less.

  • yes!

  • Just shut up and go into the oil buisness... They do need people to work the riggs... Big money is paid to those that work them.

I got an idea, lets do nothing and see how long the United States of America lasts as a country in this world... it won't take long. So, marcprolife, "don't be a pinhead!" Guess what, your money goes into GW's friends pockets now! so what is your point? If we drill, you will keep more of your money.

  • We need to empower the people, not the oil companies. The only way to do that is not by letting them control more land- They have millions of acres they are not even developing. The way the people can take power is by getting off oil- it won't be easy, but it can be done.

  • IEA 2004

"It is expected that the price impact of ANWR coastal plain production might reduce world oilprices by as much as 30 to 50 cents per barrel [in 2025]."

  • It's sad that we're going to bicker about what to do and end up doing nothing. Without timely mitigation, the US is headed for economic collapse, civil unrest, food shortages, power outages, rationing and continued resource wars. Actually, we've already started on the road to economic collapse- the rest will be unfolding soon.

  • This man better be president someday. He has always been the idea guy. Get it through your heads Dems, raising taxes is not an idea, it is a direct path to socialism.

  • NG is a genious!

  • plainjane & you all. I am a Texan and no matter what you're hearin, our heat is nothin new and we are doin fine. Quit listening to the press about the economy. It is hurting but there is no recession. "BOOK LEARNIN" Recession is when we are at 10% or above unemployment. There are other factors and we are not even close. Quit panicking and get your Senators to do what needs to be done. You have the power.

  • LOL- Hillary's my senator- need I say more???

  • no, you've really said it all right there, plainjane....

  • Funny how noone has answered the two simple questions about this "solution". When and how much oil? Anybody that thinks this is just about rising gas prices, doesn't understand the magnitude of the problem. Google NERC reliability outlook- look at pg. 12 of the pdf file. Expect brownouts and blackouts in the next couple years (it varies depending upon the region) Texas is worried if there is a prolonged heat wave this summer they may not be able to meet demand.

  • The middle east needs our grains.

    We need their oil.

They charge $136 a barrel for oil?

We charge $136 for the equivalent in grain.

THAT should change sh*t, don't you think????

  • perfect

  • Oh ye of little faith. For crying out loud, this is America and when we decide to do something we do it. 25 years ago some politician said it would take to long to drill or create alternative fuels. Hellooo, where would we be now if we werent such pessimists. Yur letting the political garble get to you again. We know where the oil is. We know where there is enough to last us for years to come. We need more refineries and enlarge what we have. We are ready to drill folks..stand and fight

  • See my comment to plainjane

  • I also think we're also overlooking the fact that our economy is taking a nosedive into economic collapse. Look at the news everyday-it gets worse. What buying power will we have to invest in all this stuff we need?

  • Plain Jane... You may want to look a little deeper than you local news for your sole input on how our country/our world is doing. The media bias is clear and evident. Do some research online...,you'll see some other perspectives and maybe start to see the news is selling you a bill of goods....

  • 95% of the geologists I've researched admit that we have peaked or will be peaking in the near future. The main opponents of peaking are politicians and the oil execs. I have personal experience regarding the cost of fertilizer. I am a farmer. Fertilizer price doubled this year over last, and doubled last year over the prior year. If it doubles next year- I won't be planting any corn- no matter how high the bushel price.

  • Why isn't conservation on his agenda? The simplest way I can think to spend less on gas is easy- USE LESS. Guaranteed to work every time.

  • it's not impossible to use less, it's that there isn't a suitable substitute yet. i agree we should try to conserve energy and we should explore other options. but until that product is found, oil will remain the life blood of our country. the free market will provide that substitute but we can't just stop using it. gasoline isn't the only product made from crude oil. all petroleum based products are made from oil: like rubber, plastics and waxes.
