I'm probably 20 years your senior and I miss the old school football players. I remember a game between the redskins and the bears in 1971. The first game I ever saw in color. The bears won the game 16 to 15. They tied the score at 15 and botched the extra point. I believe the holder was the quarterback, Bobby Douglas, a better runner than passer. The snap was botched and Douglas rolled out and threw into the end zone. Who caught the extra point? Dick Butkus. Those were the days.

This is a real football player from back in the day. Butkus never made the money that clowns like "Pacman" make today, but they couldn't hold his "jock" 40 years ago and they still can't today. He is still the best linebacker I ever watched and only names like Alan Page, Lawrence Taylor, and Jack Tatum can be mentioned in the same breath.

I'm from TN 2 and a titans fan but really u have to give him his props. All those excellent returns and int's he gave the titans. Chris Carr is no where near as talented as pacman when returning. He didn't suck it's just he is way too cocky and runs his mouth bout being really good when he can't play to the bar that he had set with the titans.

That is true, he is extremely talented.. no Gretzky, but still very talented. The problem is that no player, no matter how talented, is not valuable to the team if he cannot play. Had he just kept his nose clean and not gotten into drugs, crime, etc., then he would have been a key player. Just like any employee, they can be extremely valuable to the company but if they never show up for work (or are eligible to work) they are of no value to the business, and professional sports are no acception

Let me also add that Jerry Jones has no true respect for the game of football and his reward was watching Green Bay win the superbowl in HIS stadium. Jason Witten is exactly what you said too. Butkus destroyed one packer after another after another while he was playing, but has always been a gentleman off the field and respects the game we all love. Hes a legend in Wisconsin too!!!

@davedorger I was born in Port Washington WI, just souh of Milwaukee. My folks met at Oshkosh. Packers are my number 2 team. We moved to TX in the mid 70s. I started pop-warner, & appreciating the NFL at that time. That is how I became a Dallas fan. Also, the Pack was terrible. I am glad they revived in the 90s. It is good for the morale of the state, and the good WI ppl deserve a decent team. My dad went to a lot of games, 50's/60's, and my gram just passed at 98 & was still a big fan.
