  • how on gods name did i get here

  • hhj

  • like to have that one in my ford sierra :DD

  • 0:32

  • how much do you have bore and stroke in these versus these 2400cc v8's of nowadays?

  • the cosworth dfv, probably the greatest engine ever built.

  • nice throttle linkage !!!

  • if its a 3.3l its a dfl, ALL dfv's are 3.0

  • I am very sorry about what i said, lego is awersome if u like it. I am so sorry. I wil go fuck myself. :(

  • uhh, wrong actually, the DFV's, Judd KV's, etc. are not limited to 10,5/11k, they're designed specifically NOT to go over that

  • well, I guess I was wrong. I guess I should learn technicalities then =p

I'm wondering if this is true or not but didn't this engine fire two cylinders at once?

  • @carbdcobra there red line is 11.5 they are spun to 10.5 tho to make them last longer

  • I don't know what everyone gave anderson racing thumbs down. he's right. the cosworth v8 could get up to about 21k rpms. what the people who think it's less are wrong about is that the rpms were LIMITED to those numbers.

  • @thing503 Whilst certain later Cosworth V8s could rev to 20krpm, the DFV could never reach such limits. The DFV is more like 10,500rpm. Still a cracking engine though.

  • @zilspeed thanks for correcting me. Should have known anyway, since I've stood 2 feet from one before lol.

  • um, they dont go 21k, i work at a shop that builds them, most of they spin to about 11,000 you cant make an engine with valve springs spin much faster than that.

  • @thing503 okay, about a million people have put you right on this already, but just think about it, in f1, before they brought in the 18k rev limit, they'd 2.4ltr v8s, broadly comparable to the dfv in configuration, broadly, and they were only just getting up to 19k rpm, some 40 odd years latter! pure logic should have shown you that the dfv would never have reached 21k rpm. and the cosworths that could, couldn't really even trace their routes to the dfv, other than being high end cosworth v8s.

  • Oh yeah. The glorious Ford Flathead V8 still owns.

  • not in Formula 1

  • @polyvox83 LOL

  • Huh?

  • should of been in the capri

  • what RPM is it running at. the idle sounds like 4,000. but whats the max RPM

  • Comment removed

  • around 20k

  • 11.5k

  • Thats one thirsty mother fucker.

  • Looks like a set of ITG filters being used. Shame they are not mounted correctly as the filter mounting plates are on top of the trumpets. They are bolted to the top of the radius on the trumpet. The hole diameter is smaller than that of the trumpet at the top of its radius. Horrible air flow.

I'd say around the 500 pony mark maybe a bit more if its a 3.3, looks like its on mechanical injection. Sounds a little flat to me, sports car cams maybe???

  • 1 Filter base is for Pipercross, clearly identified by filter mount position

    2 Agree about plate position

    3 3.3 should make 530bhp @10.5k

4 You clearly dont recognise mechanical injection on a DFV. Its electronic which is obvious from the fact it has a central fuel rail and not mechanical injectors on the OUTSIDE of the trumpets, this seems like quite an error for a DFV expert

5 Not flat, its got silencers on a 4-2-1 exhaust

    6 Dont talk cock!

  • just out of curiosity do you know if it would be possible to fit one of those heads to a four cylinder engines

  • lol owned

  • DAMN SON! You know your DFV's! Props!

  • Now imagine one of those in a kit Cobra..

  • @hoosyerdaddie

    T'would be pretty useless

  • @hoosyerdaddie or an ultima GTR.

  • @hoosyerdaddie jizzed

  • A Keith Duckworth masterpiece!

  • WOW!! What a great sounding engine!! How much HP does an engine like that make?

  • GT40Bil: About 450 to 500hp.

  • A 88d is a F3000 chassis. The 883 was the F3 chassis.

  • Blimey, a DFV in the back of an F3 chassis, I bet that is a real rocketship! :)

  • cool cool grat sand

  • I like his air filter. Same one I use.

  • Great :)
