Excellent trills and still an unique voice. There was never a voice like Ponselle's, it had a strange quality, so dark and almost mezzo-like, slightly guttural, but then golden toned and flexible as well. Her voice remained great till the early 50's, so it's such an awful loss to the world she decided not to sing anymore (at least in lower soprano or higher mezzo roles).
