  • do you know any stores on the internett where we can buy furry suits o.o?

  • wow kid that most be the best jaw tutorial i haw seen

  • Dumb question - for the elastic do you just cut a rubber band into a strip and glue it through the holes to the top of the mouth?

I'm a little dumb when it comes to this. :P But this video was CRAZY helpful 8D

  • How do you attach elastic to a jaw of this style to cause it to close? I replicated your design, with the holes placed in the same spots, and attaching elastic through the upper holes doesn't keep the mouth shut. It just seems to pull on the back. I've fussed with the angling of the elastic and I can't seem to get the lower jaw to return to a closed position.

  • Do you know how to do this for a birds beak?

  • Do you have an idea of what one would do if they were doing a feline mask? Would you just make the jaw pieces shorter, but use the same process? Or use a different method?

  • This is great!!!!!!!!!!!! omg you're so awesome. Great work!!!!!!! Thank you for sharing this!!!

  • I bet that was A LOT OF WORK. I'm going to start making meh own fursuit, but AWESOME job on the head! Makes me want to hug the head. o. o ( >^ ^)>

  • can u make a tutorial 4 the head part?

  • dude that is awesome!!!!1

  • This tutorial worked beautifully for my suit. Thank you.

  • This is a great tutorial! I was wondering how you attach the elastic to make the jaw move with your own.

  • tnx tnx tnx!! :D

  • Does the mouth just hang open?

  • @technocanine

Yes, since he didn't place the springs still :P, after placing the springs, it will always shut down and follow the actual mouth movement.

  • for like the back of the head would you be able to use like a light small helmet?

  • How do you make it so you can control your jaw movements? I'm building a mask and trying to make it so I can snap my jaws at people.

  • Could you make a more detailed tutorial for the rectangles that you put the nuts and bolts into? I don't get how you stick it on THEN put the nuts and bolts on it. How do you get your fingers in there :S

    please get back to me

    thanks

  • hmmm.. would that jaw technique work with the balaclava ? :0

oh, and, your base looks cool. *___* *drools*

  • How did you carve into the foam so well?

What type of tool did you use?

  • wow did you draw that im never that good at drawing i wish i could be

  • Very helpful tutorial! Thank you lots!

  • I couldn't understand a word you said.

  • I was wondering on how you would go about making a suit. How would you be able to get the body formed?

  • How bout michaels? That one arts and craft store? I will have to peek around, but I don't get how you make it so perfectly :3 it amazes me ^^ it must take several times before getting it right I'm sure, that's all I fear is messing up and wasting money

  • Where do u get the foam and how do u carve it so perfectly! :o

  • @SuperSexyBlueHusky

If you live in the states you can find foam easily at crafts stores like Joann's and Hobby Lobby.

You usually carve heads using scissors, razor, or scalpel. It takes patience.

  • your soooooooooooooo good :(

  • heh i can see my post but does the foam bored ha to be black or any other coloer?

  • ok thx i needed that vid alot befor but i coldent find it, poor shylo that lookes like she got ran over......but for the bottem mouth how are you going to be abel to move it , is it like the bottem mouth fome extendend to your chin, or some rubber band or something under your cing to abel to move it? i remakeing my head....plz reply my ?

  • How does the chin connect to the moving jaw? I'm kinda curious at how the mechanism works.

  • i loved your drawing at the beginning it makes me think of the fox from the fox and the hound.. tod i think?

  • Thank you so much! This is a really creative way of making a moving jaw, I love it!

  • cutest voice. ^^

  • Hi there im desingning my own furry head atm but its just on my laptop atm gonna get materials soon .. what i want to know is: when you do a jaw like that does it follow four chin movement or how much does it move realy.. im so currius ^_^ well well thanks for reading this when you have the time... and hope to hear from you soon ... oh and hope ill see you furry head done soon here ^^ * take care*

If I'm going to make another fursuit head, I am going to use this tutorial ;D

I will also show a link and your name ;D

  • I love your video. My question is is there something else besides the foam that is allowing the head the retain its shape? I see that you mostly used foam to make the head and its beautifully shaped too, but usually when I use foam it doesnt keep its shape so well.

  • hi, i was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how you made the base of thr mask.

  • how do you attach this to your own jaw to mke it close/open

  • awesome! im dieing to get a fursuit i'd like to make my own but im still saving up it seems easy i understand how to make one but when i get down to making one i dont have any of the materials i need :c about how much does it cost to buy all the supplys you need for a head?

  • are you a guy or a girl?

  • @wiccalor That matters how?

  • Helloooo! FryFUzz! :) i Was WonDeriNg.. is the jaw like finnished and ready to use whn i have done exactly like you have done in the video? I mean how does it WORK?? :o

  • Hey Fry, its shaggygriffon. Monoyasha directed me to your video as im looking for just the affect your jaw has. Do you perhaps have a video up of a head with the elasitic installed so i could see how well it closes and holds? Im making a carnotaur head for a giant costume, my head wont be in the head, so it will be carved from solid styrofoam. i want to have a pulley mechanizm so i can manually open the jaw but then it will snap closed. any modifications fo your technique that i should make? thx

  • alsome work

My sister and I want to be Sonic and Shadow for halloween and I wanted to start making it soon before then because my mom said it would take 2 or 3 months to make. :3

  • nice drawing!

  • omg I love the foamwork on this mask soooo much!!

do you possibly have a written, step-by-step tutorial on making the jaw like that? Also, how do you keep it from hanging open all the time? I don't see any elastic...

  • Whats that made out on the top? Like the circle like thing a hat?

  • Can u show it on you? I wanna see when you put it on how good it moves. If its not trouble.

  • i dont kno where to find foam like that, where do you get your materials? O:

  • @emozz08 It is just Upholstry foam, you can find suppliers on the net, some fabric stores sell it too.

  • @emozz08- I use Airtex foam from Jo-Ann fabric stores (if you live in the states). It's back in with the quilting stuff. They come in a lot of varying widths.

  • oh ok

  • i have a question... when you attach the elastic bands, were do you exactly attach them inside the head?

  • @foxydevilgirl Im not personally using an elastic/spring method, but you could cut 2 groves in the foam for your elastic to go, mabe tie both ends of a piece of elastic to the sides of the jaw and have it go over the top of the foam head?

  • [ sorry come fom germany 'nd my englisch is .. ehm bad ? :D ]

I have a question ! At first this tutorial is great ! Bur how do you get the fur on this . I mean .. there two peaces ? Where the jaw is I mean .. I saw that a coupple of times that there are zwo peaces .. where your chin is I mean . the movin part D: hope you know what i mean :D:D

  • @XxTentenHatakexX i furred the jaw and head seperatly, they attach at the neck flaps.

  • This in an excellent tutorial, thank you so much for posting! Your helpfulness is much appreciated. :}

I have a couple of questions, though:

    1. What is the name for the black plastic material you use for the hinge?

    2. In the beginning of the video you had four pieces for the screw assembly, a bolt, a nut, and two flat circular pieces. However, I didn't see where the circular pieces went when you put the hinge together. Where do they fit?

    Thanks in advance! ^_^

  • i love this head! anyway, where does the elastic go? sorry about the dumb question, this is my first fursuit head. like does it go through the holes, and around the jaw so it will bounce back up or what? please message back! and sorry if this message pops up twice, or if there are two messages by me, my computer was being a retard and wouldnt post the first comment i left, but im not sure if it decided to post it now. but anyway, please reply back and thanks for the awesome tutorial!

  • where does the elastic go? like, does it go in the holes and out and around the jaw so it bounces back up or what? please message back! thnks! btw, awesome fursuit :D

  • I saw your semi-completed fur head, please can you tell me what you used for the tuft of fur on the forehead? I have a mock-hawk kind of thing I need to do for mine and I have no idea where I'm meant to get something like that. Is it just a hair piece?

  • @NthroSptn

Its goat hair. used for fly fishing

  • @FryFuzzmutt

Ahhhh... thank you very much, this is helpful.

  • This may be one of the simplest and effective ways I've ever seen a head done thus far ;w;

Just one question if you don't mind, what is it that you used for the black portion on the back of the head? it looks so nice and clean!!!

  • what is the black/dark brown stuf it looks like plastic/styrene

  • cool i wana make a fursuite but it look so hard and i hardley have enough money to make a fursuite haha

  • 1. what did you carve it with

    2. How many seperate peices of foam did you use to make it

    3. About how much was it??

  • @Catpandadragon

    1. an electric carving knife

    2. i have no idea, made it up as i went along, mabe 14?

    3 . i donno, the price of foam? O.o

    4. you didnt say the magic word =P

  • PLEASE??!!

  • this is AWESOME & totally helpful X3 I LOVE your accent! XD

  • @smhorse not even close :P

  • LOL. Must be the speakers on my PC - there are times when it makes your voice sound like a Yorkshire lass LOL

  • this is alot of help!!!

thank you for makeing this video!

    ^^

i need to go and find foam and stuff for the hed, but wen im making it, i shall use your video to help me!!

    ^^

  • wow! this is REALLY helpful. it would be nice though if you could show how well the jaw works when it's actually on your head...

  • @TheRealUruBabe

well ill be posting more as i progress :P

  • i look forward to it! =D

  • Yay you're in the UK! =D

Thank you for explaining this technique, it has really helped out with my jaw woes (and i've had quite a few since i've been struggling through my first head using trial and improvement xP).

My only question is how are you going to fur that? Will you fur the jaw seperately from the head and if so how will you hide the fact it's a seperate piece?

  • @Demofax

the jaw is furres seperatly. cos of the design of the head their isnt a need to hide the fact that the jaw is seperate.

the problem is putting the neck flaps on to the mask, somthing ill make a video on as i progress

  • Ah yes I see. Hee handy markings. Thanks, it's very generous of you to share your techniques! =)

  • @Demofax thankyou, i pride myself in helping others :D

  • ill have to try that sometime!

  • By the way, you don't have a lisp that I can pick up on. I should bug you on Skype again at some point.

I want to start working on the exterior work on the head you sculpted for me, but have like three projects ahead of it still. It stares at me in the mean time. :p

    -Erika

  • Very awesome! The head looks great also!

Scoring / scuffing up the surface is an excellent way to help things bond together. I did that we signs when using plastic weld, and I do that behind the eyes before gluing them onto heads with a x-acto or very rough sand paper.

  • @MLAProductions

yup it is, its often used in ceramics to bond two pieces of clay together with slip :3

  • Not to sound like an idiot or anything, but I could totally just listen to you talk all day. ^_^ I love your accent!

  • Did you screw the foam board, hinge, and foamies together before gluing it in the mask?

  • @Tucuxi3

I didnt screw any foamies in to there, I screwed the jaw to a second "plate" made of foam board that was glued to the foam base.

  • Oh! I get it now! I was making this so much more complicated in my head.

  • Could you possibly post a vid of you using this type of jaw, to see how it moves when you speak and such? And maybe visually explain the elastics a bit more too? c: Looks great, I really love the idea of a hinged jaw!

  • @DutchFolfess

When i get to that stage i will make a video of it X3

  • @FryFuzzmutt

Okay, thank you! 8D I'll subscribe then c:

  • That's an interesting way of doing it So SIMPLE!!

XD Shall have to try this sometime XD

  • That's a fantastic technique!

  • Thankyou!
