My strongest memory of that night was me and my sister being chased for about half a mile after the game by your lot !!! lol Thanks for the memories !
First time I heard it was at this game. The terracing at Preston was wooden planks, which 'bounced' when you jumped up and down - I thought that was what started the boing, boinging.
I was at the Orient game a few weeks earlier but don't remember it there.
I was at this game and always thought Boinging started here, its only when I googled it that I realised there was a debate...... We sang along to Boing by DJ Mark and The Rich at half time (it was such a crap song we sang along as a joke) when we scored a group of albion fans sang the song again.
(And I've also been told that this match at Preston on Tues 1st Oct 1991 was rearranged from the following Saturday due to a party political conference that was going on on the Saturday, not that that changes a whole hill of beans).
Well just to completely put the cat amongst the pigeons... it is worth pointing out, first of all, that I was not born when all this was going on, so I'm only going off what I've heard and read as an Albion fan.
I've been told that the Boing Boing (Baggies Baggies as it was then) chant originated at Preston in the 1991/92 season. Apparently this match was on Tues 1st Oct 1991, Albion lost 2-0 on the plastic pitch, and the chant started then. Or so I've been told!
You will probably get a lot of negative responses over it like I have for the last 17+ years !!! On one of the message boards people were so negative towards me over it I even offered to meet them at a game and explain the history of it! (they bottled it, its easy to sit behind a screen and mock!) I had an article in the November issue of Grorty Dick in 1993 comemorating boing boing`s first birthday and even my uncle spoke to Radio WM in `93 about it after the play-off second leg Swansea game.
@dougboing Ahh as a Swans fan I can tell you I still have nightmares of the ground shaking as you boing boinged when you scored...one of my strongest football memories that night
The first game of boing boing was actually against Leyton Orient away - 7th nov 1992 !!! We actually did it on the sealandair coach on the way down to londium, and got it going at the game as it was soooo dire !!! (lost 2-0, could have scored for a shocking miss by Luther Blissett of all people!!!)

Could be right Doug. We've been debating this on one of the Albion message boards. I'll throw this date at them.
