Ya gotta love the way birds hold their heads to the sky and sing. Also I have seen these at the feeders at my house and they are also friendly, not scaring as easily as other birds!
Listening to this beautiful and vibrant bird reminds me of the precious quality of all life, and how it benefits all beings to hear this song of joy ... thank you
Thank you so very much for posting this! I can show my children what the beautiful bird looks like that we are hearing. The sparrows are here in the Low Country during winter and is such a delight to hear.
I'm amazed at your video of the white-throated sparrow. I'm from Quebec and this bird's song is a symbol of my child hood walking through the forest. Thanks for sharing this really beautiful song on YT!
I hear this all the time when I go hiking in the Adirondacks! I nicknamed it Pavarotti b/c I never knew it's name and it always seemed to belt out a really long note like an opera singer.
@Youkickmydog1988 yeah whatever it is, it just IS.. and we're so lucky to have this chance... seeing people waste their lives, loaf around... jeezz, it's too bad they don't teach 'life appreciation' in school.
The bird i am trying to identify has a similar call, but the tones are reversed. it sounds exactly like this-but the first two notes are low, and then the third is high and long-followed by 9 notes at the same pitch as the third one. (daa-daa deeeeeee dee-dee-dee dee-dee-dee dee-dee-dee...) Does anyone know what it is? It is in deer isle, ME. around a spruce/evergrren forest.
These little guys sing outside my window all the time. I've loved them since I was a kid. There's something about their song that just puts me completely at ease. I remember walking to a friend's house, who lived quite far, when I was around 9 years old, and I was nervous to be walking there alone until I heard this song coming from the trees. Beautiful video.
@trzcinarowice we have those in michigan... they do the 3 notes and it ends there... i prefer that song over this one.... where can i find that on youtube!
Thank you so very much for posting this, I been trying to find out what bird sang this song since i was 11, 26 years and the internet is all it took to find it. I asked many people and no one knew! ty so very much !!!!
@cardarinc I have had the same "problem" for a number of years now too. I could always hear them, but could never see the bird that was making this song. Some people even went as far to say that it was a person whistling the tune, because it's the kind that could somewhat easily be mimicked by humans, but I knew better. People just don't sit in trees whistling the same tune over and over...... ;)
i hear this beautiful song many, many mornings outside my bedroom window. i had no idea it was a white-throated sparrow until recently! this is a lovely video... congratulations and thanks! PS: im in northcentral ohio
This is amazing! We hear these little guys all summer long at our cottage in the Land O Lakes area of Ontario, Canada. It's the very sound that reminds of the summer and being on the lake
This is really excellent footage! Maybe this is early in the breeding season? This guy seems to be missing the last "Canada" of his song... perhaps just being efficient.
When I first heard this song in my yard, I called the local arboretum and spoke to one of the naturalists. After I whistled the melody, he knew right away what bird I was hearing. It's neat to see this footage since I rarely see the sparrows.
Wow, I've finally found out who this bird song belongs to! My whole life I have loved this song, my grandfather told me this bird was his favourite his whole life too and he called the bird a "Tom Tiddly". I always knew that spring was officially here when I heard this bird song. None of my bird-watcher friends have ever been able to tell me what he's really called... I thank you so much for this wonderful video, reminds me so much of my beloved Grampie!

great shots, but why do you mix in background birds, I understand you might want to create sound continuity, but I assure you it's unnecessary, and it's confusing
Absolutely stunning video...
