  • Well,I think we can say: Machine Kaput! I liked the comment about: "after full inspection, we found no damage to the Airframe, Engine, or Prop". Was the engine dissassembled - for internal changes? If so, I would agree; if not - not so good. All of this could have been avoided by the pilot not "hot dogging" in front of the crowd .

  • shockloading, hmm.. :D

  • Hmm. I know the guy who has this plane.

  • @BikerRussell tell him somone crashed it

  • @flyingturnip1 It was him who did it. It cost him a new engine. Im also going on a trip in it in a few days.

  • stupid

  • Rotary hoe?

  • just a little nose heavy

  • Eh prop ein fuckeruppen.

  • I don't even understand what how he was trying to "show off". That was just dumb lol. Everyone knows to keep the stick back when you taxi and tailwheel. Well, almost everyone i guess...

  • @jtkent28 you can see that the pilot gave it nose down elevator + brakes to try high tail taxi... but that was a bit to difficult...

  • lol you know he was pissed. and the clapping, gee... bet that helped.

  • well..at least the prop touch soft grass, maybe it's still ok and the engine too but that's a hard lesson for the pilot.

  • Smooth.

  • *golf clap*

  • 1st day I learned hold that stick back when taxi-ing, It keeps your tail down.

  • Gee everyone seems to know everything about everything. Personally I think the guy is just plane stupid. I dont care about airflow and BS and all of that. Fly the airplane and dont be stupid with it. Know what you are doing before you do it. Jeeeesh people.

  • stupid hurts

  • Dick head showing off with no skill......

  • That was 4 seconds a pilot would like to do over. One prop and one engine overhaul, since you have to take it apart for inspection anyway. I feel for the guy. The worst part is everyone is watching. I just feel bad about it. I bet it cost him $15K.

  • @barryb83110

    so true.

that was by far the most expensive act in the whole air show! The sad part is the audience doesn't appreciate how much money this guy just kissed goodbye. (and it wasn't very exciting)

It's hard to believe he did that on purpose (up until the prop strike) Showing off in an airplane isn't needed, It's already awesome enough!

  • a beautiful plane in wrong hands... painful to see

  • props are replaceable man

  • micometer time!!!

  • Wouldn't he need that propeller to fly again next time he wants to? That seems like a waste but i guess if he's going to change propellers that's a funner way to take the old one off. Hahaha thanks.

  • Engine overhaul & -$10,000 there.

  • no need for an overhaul, just an engine inspection and a new prop

  • ya ya ya...

  • Right on about the power but what really got this pilot is when it started to go over on the nose he instinctively pulled back on the stick. With a tailwind this will put a light perfectly balanced cub right on its back. I forgot to mention applying brakes is usually the other instinctive move which just puts icing on the cake. I have flown Cubs all my life and contrary to current teaching methods there is no reason to ever pull the stick back on the ground except to take-off.

  • That sucks so badly, and having everyone clapping just makes it worse.

  • I think it is a round of commiseration :)

  • 400$ for a new prop

  • $400? Where do you get props for $400? Try $3K.

  • Walmart :P lol idk

  • At least

  • just a little nose heavy.

  • just a "wee" bit

  • don't you hate it when that happens?

  • If you listen carefully, you can hear where he messes up. When he starts to nose over, he pulls power. The proper thing to do is add power and get more airflow over the elevator so you can force the tail back down. It seems counter intuitive, but it works.

  • Sorry to see that. No matter who you are, you are not immune to an embarrasing problem that may happen. I have seen proof on the shoes of the most dignified !

  • How NOT to show off

  • Seems to be a tail wind, the turboprop is taxiing downwind, he did pull the stick back, but either got stuck in some ruts or tapped the brakes if he has them. I wonder what he did to get home. I wouldn't trust the motor mount, prob hub , prop bolts, or crankshaft .

  • The prop is destroyed and the engine will need to be completely disassembled, inspected and reassembled with serviceable parts. That is protocol for any prop strike. Doubly frustrating is that A-65 Continental engines and parts aren't as common anymore.

  • :( the beautiful L4!! WHYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! WHY GOD WHYYYYYYYYY LOL

  • clap, clap, clap... lol

  • yes the clapping got me too lol

  • I do this in my C180 and SeaRey.

Um... after seeing this, I think we'll stick to the SeaRey only!

At worst, this would've left a grass stain on the keel, in that plane.

  • Well that's one way to skip your shutdown checklist.

  • his mistake was cutting the power, had he kept the throttle open and pulled back on the stick it would have been ok.

  • Oh, I forgot to add - he did look professional in his "flight suit" didn't he!! ha, ha, ha

  • Nice round of applause for this "show off"; was trying to "high tail taxi" for the crowd...really did a good job, eh!

  • I love the marshaller. He looks soooo unimpressed. like he couldn't care less

  • Pilots stupid mistake, he keep the elevator down until he realized he was going to far.

  • Elevator up you mean?

  • Nope, down.

  • The crowd's sarcasm is the best. They all clap! LMAO!

  • Embarassing as hell, right in front of a crowd. At first I thought it might have been intentional (trying to put on a good show, WHICH HE DID, LIKE IT OR NOT), but the show is up in the air, not on the ground. LOLOL! But it's a mistake any pilot could make.

  • That's gonna cost him a lot of money! Looks like he braked - made it worse!

  • looks like new hehehe...

  • the funny thing is if he'd ADDED more power and pulled the stick back he would've saved it. he did it the wrong way and lost it.

  • on taildragger taxiing always pull the stick on your tom otherwise shit happen only during takeoff release or push the stick!

  • depends on how you are trying to taxi. he was trying to keep the tail off the ground, it's a legitimate method but it takes experience, more than this guy had. embarrassing.

  • Dumbkoff- Propen stricken! Engine nine vorken. Wormen cuten halfen!

  • rofl!!

  • at least he was smart enough to not instinctively slam on the breaks... he cut the power and said "aw fuck..." lol

  • Dumbass......Showoff......Dumbass......He doesn't deserve to have a great plane like that.....did I say Dumbass yet?

  • Outstanding!!!

  • Your right...."OUTSTANDING DUMBASS"!!!!

  • Big drawback of a taildragger

  • I sure hope that embarassment and cost of engine tear down was worth it just to try to impress a few people.
