Cacao, once you complete his house, gives you a flute, that you use in the snake smelly place. Then, the snake drops the pendant after you kill it.

It's hard to forget these things in Dark Cloud, I remember that Goro's father Fudoh meant the world to him and then in the end Goro became selfish and wanted to save the world all by himself.
