@willyboogerblues Great, man I really want this amp, and in the next weeks I'll be buying a tube amp. i was thinking in the vox ac15 and also a fender twin reverb, but now i'm watching your demo.. also a peavey is a good option.. please could u tell me, It is good taking analog pedals? do u think this is a good amp for jazz music? actually I own a les paul, but in a near future i'm going to buy a strat or a tele, so thanks in advance for your answer... cheers
@usalespaul59 The PC30 is a well liked amp,it is portable friendly but does have some weight.Peavey worked out the bugs in this amp over the years.Volume is good, clean is good, reverb is good, distortion channel is heavy compared to FBD.If you want classic straight up Blues I would lean to FBD, if you want more distortion in the amp, the PC30 offers it. FBD clean is hard to beat and reverb. If you can, Play them Both to see what works for you. Thanks Take care :-)
@willyboogerblues thanks man, I already have a FBD, but it sounds harsh to me at low volumes. I'm not woried about the dirt on this kind of amp, as I use an OD pedal for this, but the clean channel needs to be warm and dynamic, which on the BD is not always the case. Try a Vibrolux or a Supersonic 60w and you'll see what I'm talking about. Thought this peavey might be a cheaper better alternative to the BD...
@usalespaul59 I understand what you are talking about. What I did was turn down the treble and the presence very low and for me it was perfect, harshness is gone. I mainly play a strat. I have played all the amps you mentioned and I like them to. Thanks friend Take care :-)
@LaroldC Thanks so much friend, I wish Peavey or some company would pay me to make better demos. They do make some cool amps. Take care friend and again, thank you so much :-)
Willy, great demo & groovy playing .-), thanks for posting. A question: at 3:09 in going into grit, you're stepping on something on the flooe. Is that a pedal of some sorts or only the footswitch for the amp's gain channel?
Hey, awesome review! wich model of classic 30 u prefer? the old one or the 112? i play blues, rock and hard rock but i want a lead tone can this amp give me that tone?. And for last, could u say ur eq? really, it sounds fucking awesome!!
@fitipaldi90 I prefer newest ones, they have upgrades. In this video, this is what I sound like with this amp. I do not remember my EQ, sorry. Try before you buy, if you can. Thanks friend :-) Take care
Terrific demo Willy. It's much better than Peavey's own video - they should just hire you. I've just had this amp recommended to me and hearing you put it through its paces with different styles of playing has convinced me to get it. Many thanks and all the best.
@VlastaStevanovich Everyone can give different answers on this but for me between these two amps, I would pick the Fender Blues Deluxe, however , that is if I had to chose between these two amps. Thanks friend
Look at a video called I'm going home by Johhny Gallagher in my uploads,I thought you were him for a second at the start cause you sure play good too.Anyway thanks for the review dude.
It's a unique amp, it sounds somewhere BETWEEN a Vox and a Fender tube amp...If u could go back in time to 1965 and give out hundreds of these C 30s on the streets of London and Liverpool, the Brit invasion rockers would all be salivating over it...
@wstorres none of my demos use pedals, just maybe a footswitch to change channels. What you hear is the amp with only my guitar plugged into it. I do not remember my settings. I always just use my ear to decide what to set it at, which can differ depending on the room, like studio, live stage...ect Thanks friend :-)
haha I did the same Communication Breakdown and Billie Jean when tryin this amp out yesterday at the music shop! Btw, what kinda footswitch did u use to switch channels? Does it come with it?
I played one before and couldn't get it to sound like you have it dialed in. It was sort of hit and miss. I tried one guitar and it was meh, I another guitar into it and it was fine, I tried another guitar and it was meh again. It never sounded like this though.
@willyboogerblues It very well could have been your playing and skills that made it sound like that. I'm not as good as you. LOL I don't know though, the cleans just sounded very hard and stiff and the overdrive wasn't as smooth as this.
@joshrdealmusic I think I know what you mean. It feels a little this way to me as well. No problem, keep on searching for the one that works best for you. Thanks friend :-)
@Ozzman1369 I have tested that out through other speaker cab, I feel it is just the amp design, seems to have same characteristics on different speaker, peace :-)
Its awesome that you throw in some songs that we can recognize when you demo the amp. It really helps me get a feel for what this amp can do. Most people just do their own riffs when they review and its not that helpful.
@willyboogerblues Just sold a usa 90's model of the classic 30 and bought a mesa boogie express 550 ... I really wish i hadn't !!! Thats how good my classic 30 was : (
I had replaced the speaker to celestion v30 and tubes but the old peavey + mods all came in at a third of the price as the mesa and sounded better and also matched the mesas "legendary cleans " . If your looking for the best amp for the money look no further than the peavey classic 30 I.M.O
hey, i finally bought this amp about 2 weeks ago. I basically bought it because of this video, i can honestly say its one of the best buys i've ever done. Its a great amp, and with a pedal or two, you can literally get almost any tone out of it.
thanks willy, your a very good person for posting this video lol
some people dont the real but the fake musicians , judge people for the image. Willy you are great , one of the best things reviews etc .. ive seen on youtube... very good guitarist. One more thing i was owner of the classic30 not this one but the first edition . and its an amazing amp. keep on my friend, thanks for do this.
willy thanks man ,for your blues lesson ,ive watched all your videos on youtube ,your an awsome guitar player , some day id like to play as well as you do
man dude ur great ,how long haqve you been playing ?iam a beginner please tell me what should i really leran to play blues like you. i really would like your advice ,thanks willy.
@josesoliz100 I play for about 28 years. I build from the basics. Build a strong foundation. Simple is good. I will send you a blues lesson I made :-)
Hi willy. I just got the peavey classic 30. Where did you find your setting to get your sounds. Im finding that the gain isnt really good for deep metal and its very led zepliny solo's. The clean is very jazzy i haven't found the country spot yet. The reverb is superb. And the amp equlaiztion is great. One of things im noticing is that the eq nobs dont really work as boosts in that when you use them they are more like presence knobs. The presence of mid/treb/bass is more. It doesnt over do.
@Guitarstring187 I used my ear till I thought it sounded good. I do not remember my settings. Yes, this is not really a metal amp but it does take pedals well. Congrats on your new amp, Thanks
Excellent playing....especially on the dirty channel - I have the peavey 30 and just picked up a fender amer. std strat - But that's as close to you and your set up, and playing abiltiy as I come...Nicely done.
Dude, I got the same chord poster in my room. I was going to buy this amp, but I gotta get tires instead. Being responsible sucks. Anyhow, I love this amp! I fell in love with it a local shop. Looks great, and sounds sexy as hell.
i got a bit of a question...would this play rock, like vintage rock (Led Zeppelin for example)...my style is like a mix of Carlos Santana and Led Zeppelin lol, if thats possible...could this amp give Santana-like tones? I'm going to a guitar center in the next week or two and this is definitly up on the list of things to buy, but i'd like to hear if you think if could do those styles....if not, maybe with a pedal?
@TrippyTheShroom I am not sure, if I had Carlos exact setup I probably would not sound like him. Tricky question. This video is what the amp sounds like with my setup and playing. It may Ball Park led Zep or Carlos with pedals and the right guitars. It will most likely sound good either way, but sound is kinda subjective, so I am told...haha. Check them out friend and good luck :-)
@willyboogerblues lol, ya...carlos' tone comes from a variety of factors....i do enjoy blues and classic rock tho, and this amp seems like it can pull those off with ease
LOL you're the man buddy! I bought it second hand a week ago it was made in '99 and still has its original tubes...the guy that bought it originally didn't play it so much but I think it's time to change them: what do you think?
dude thanks so much for the thorough demo. I tried another demo before this one that suckethed. Yours was sweet....and I borrowed a lick from you that I really enjoyed. Thanks for that brother. You're the man
@willyboogerblues Ah, okay thanks. Nice playing by the way, sorry I didn't mention it earlier, was kinda flustered hehe. But ya, keep up the great work!
Hey dude. I bought the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe:-) wow, what an amp, awesome clean tones but had tons of overdrive which the blues Jnr lacked. Also preferred the cleans on the HRD to both the Peavey's but thanks for your reviews.
Loving your vids man. Now that's a proper demo:-) awesome playing there, nice too see your awesome at different styles too.
Im torn between the Fender Blues Jnr, Fender HRD, Peavey Classic 30 and Peavey Delta Blues. I watched your other vid too of the direct comparison, great stuff.
@scottjamable it is a G&L Legacy (Leo Fender), seasoned alder body, handmade in America, I had it special ordered and it took about 3 months to get it. Thanks friend :o)
@willyboogerblues will do, going to try the older version that a guy is selling on ebay, its not the new model you are playing in the video, any ideas on difference in quality between the updated model and the older one at all?
@christhetramp Far as I know, there is a tube guard, tube tape and tube retainers. The tube tape is like a rubber strip that sticks to the tube guard, the tubes touch it to keep it from vibrating. If it does not have this, chances are, you will hear a rattling sound when you play even at low volumes. That has been a past complaint on these amps, the tube guard and tape is their fix, which works but seems kinda hoaky. There is after market guards but I could not find tube tape. Good luck!
your pickup's are great willy, I bought a d.b 210 cause of your demo's, I was just checking out this demo and think the c30 and d.b sound exactly the same except for tremolo and speaker size, config. God bless.
@glassbottleblues Thanks friend, at neck Fender Vintage Noiseless, Middle Dimarzio Area 58, bridge is a Seymore Duncan Humbucker for which I am not sure of the model(TB ?) Thanks again :-)
Hi Willy its me again.Because of your great review I bought the amp yesterday.(the Head because I have a Box with vintage 30 speakers)The sound really blow me away. You dont have to spent more money for a great blues tone.
Thanks for the videos Willy, your review on this, and the Delta Blues really helped me decide what amp I'll be buying next. I think I'll be getting the classic 30.
I would not choose this amp for metal unless you had pedals for the distortion. I have used this amp with a line 6 floor POD with nice results for metal. It takes pedals well :-) Thanks friend!
I have the head and 212 cab version of the classic 30 and it rocks.
If you put a tube screamer in font of the amp you can get some early metal tones such as Randy Roads, early Metallica, (Kill em All,Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets). But anything newer you'll need a pedal i use a metal zone for the new stuff works great.
I tried it out today. Played around with it for about an hour. Sounds great, all my pedals sound great on it. Doesn't have a standby switch, but I guess it doesn't need one (otherwise they'd install one). Monday is payday. And on monday, I'm buying it.
this is a great amp for hard rock, it really sounds like an old modded plexi with the humbucker, I don't understand why people keep saying it's just a blues amp
Thanks Willy, fine picking. Was wondering as I watched your right hand you use the thumb and 1st finger are you sneeking in that 2nd finger too? Thanks, now I will check out your Delta Blues video as I have both these amps....thanks again....
Thanks friend, it is a G&L (Leo Fender's guitars) the man himself. I had it specially made for me, it took months. Seasoned Alder, gun tint maple neck, I like the fixed bridge(hard tail) I prefer rosewood for the fingerboard. I have not played its equal. Thanks :0)
Would love to hear you demo the Egnater Tweaker. I'm currently trying to decide between that one and a Classic 30. Trying to work out how much I really care about tweaking :)
I have checked that amp out.I did not like it.It did not sound like what I was wanting.I felt the Rebel 30 sounded better and it has reverb,Tweeker does not.Renegade sounded good to.Classic 30 will blow its doors off in volume.Be sure to test them out.You need to like its sound and it has to produce the volume you need.If I get a chance to demo one I sure will. Thanks Friend!
Nice

About a year ago I SOLD my C-30. I have since felt a little sad over it, but this demo has bitch-slapped me into ritual suicide.
You make a friggin' strong argument, WBB. And you play like a bastid, ya little...Hmph.
Gotta get me another C-50 now, dammit.

@willyboogerblues Hey, can this amp do metal? Like modern metal and 80's metal?
Bludhoundz8 1 year ago
@Bludhoundz8 I would not buy this amp for true heavy metal. But you can use pedals and pull it off just fine, it does take them well. Thanks friend
willyboogerblues 1 year ago
@willyboogerblues Ah, okay thanks. Nice playing by the way, sorry I didn't mention it earlier, was kinda flustered hehe. But ya, keep up the great work!

@willyboogerblues
Hey dude. I bought the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe:-) wow, what an amp, awesome clean tones but had tons of overdrive which the blues Jnr lacked. Also preferred the cleans on the HRD to both the Peavey's but thanks for your reviews.
sroberts408 1 year ago
Loving your vids man. Now that's a proper demo:-) awesome playing there, nice too see your awesome at different styles too.
Im torn between the Fender Blues Jnr, Fender HRD, Peavey Classic 30 and Peavey Delta Blues. I watched your other vid too of the direct comparison, great stuff.
I'm out on Wednesday to try em all out

Hey Willy, Is that a Jap Strat ?? If so, is it a bass or alder body?? like the videos!!
scottjamable 1 year ago
@scottjamable it is a G&L Legacy (Leo Fender), seasoned alder body, handmade in America, I had it special ordered and it took about 3 months to get it. Thanks friend :o)

@christhetramp Thanks, but if you can, try before you buy :o)
willyboogerblues 1 year ago
@willyboogerblues will do, going to try the older version that a guy is selling on ebay, its not the new model you are playing in the video, any ideas on difference in quality between the updated model and the older one at all?
christhetramp 1 year ago
@christhetramp Far as I know, there is a tube guard, tube tape and tube retainers. The tube tape is like a rubber strip that sticks to the tube guard, the tubes touch it to keep it from vibrating. If it does not have this, chances are, you will hear a rattling sound when you play even at low volumes. That has been a past complaint on these amps, the tube guard and tape is their fix, which works but seems kinda hoaky. There is after market guards but I could not find tube tape. Good luck!

Great playing man, you sold me on this amp, peavey should put you on the payroll.

Thanks for the videos Willy, your review on this, and the Delta Blues really helped me decide what amp I'll be buying next. I think I'll be getting the classic 30.

willyboogerblues 1 year ago
can this amp do metal?
buckethead30001 1 year ago
I would not choose this amp for metal unless you had pedals for the distortion. I have used this amp with a line 6 floor POD with nice results for metal. It takes pedals well :-) Thanks friend!
willyboogerblues 1 year ago
@buckethead30001 I tried it out today and if you crank the "pre" dial then you can get metal tones and just use the "post" for your overall volume :D
MBAZ100 1 year ago
I have the head and 212 cab version of the classic 30 and it rocks.
If you put a tube screamer in font of the amp you can get some early metal tones such as Randy Roads, early Metallica, (Kill em All,Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets). But anything newer you'll need a pedal i use a metal zone for the new stuff works great.
rednecklbcolston 1 year ago
I tried it out today. Played around with it for about an hour. Sounds great, all my pedals sound great on it. Doesn't have a standby switch, but I guess it doesn't need one (otherwise they'd install one). Monday is payday. And on monday, I'm buying it.

this is a great amp for hard rock, it really sounds like an old modded plexi with the humbucker, I don't understand why people keep saying it's just a blues amp
chojinkid 1 year ago
Thanks Willy, fine picking. Was wondering as I watched your right hand you use the thumb and 1st finger are you sneeking in that 2nd finger too? Thanks, now I will check out your Delta Blues video as I have both these amps....thanks again....
goffbum 1 year ago
yes, Thanks :-)
willyboogerblues 1 year ago
Damn nice job son.....was that an American Strat?
goffbum 1 year ago
Thanks friend, it is a G&L (Leo Fender's guitars) the man himself. I had it specially made for me, it took months. Seasoned Alder, gun tint maple neck, I like the fixed bridge(hard tail) I prefer rosewood for the fingerboard. I have not played its equal. Thanks :0)
willyboogerblues 1 year ago
Would love to hear you demo the Egnater Tweaker. I'm currently trying to decide between that one and a Classic 30. Trying to work out how much I really care about tweaking :)
douglind68 1 year ago
I have checked that amp out.I did not like it.It did not sound like what I was wanting.I felt the Rebel 30 sounded better and it has reverb,Tweeker does not.Renegade sounded good to.Classic 30 will blow its doors off in volume.Be sure to test them out.You need to like its sound and it has to produce the volume you need.If I get a chance to demo one I sure will. Thanks Friend!
willyboogerblues 1 year ago
Hey Willy, that was a darn fine demo :)
