@vnswamy2008 ... I use 8-8-8 at a rate of 8 lbs. per 100 ft. of row before planting. If you use a stronger fertilizer use less. I also use Miracle Grow in my water tank on areas I didn't fertilize......Donald
We"ve been growing corn to sell but people don't like the worm in there but we dont mind. Your gardening methods are very inspiring I enjoy all your videos.
@hebrewbrother7 ... I get em every year and don't really worry about em. After shucking the ear just break off the end where the worm is. The old folks use to say having the worm meant your corn was healthy. LOL.....Donald
My God, son!! (lol) What kind of corn is that? Will the G-90 that I planted get that tall??.... Also, this video has answered a question that I asked about planting cucumber and squash on the same row... Thanks.
Mine is probably 2 ft. tall (or more) right now. I won't be able to get back in there and hill or cultivate the corn and 1 of my potato rows. It's too tall! Thanks
@onyxreddragon ... well I have the corn, okra, potatoes and purple hull planted. Will soon start planting tomatoes, cucumber, snap beans, peppers and eggplant.
Really no secret just stick to the basics. Don't fall for all the gimmicks out there. That variety is called "Coustralee" and is included in the seed offer on the web site........ Donald
Beautiful thanks a lot for this inspiring dream. we live in a big ugly city where the markets bring dead food iradiated and non nutritive so watching this was really invigorating.
This spring I wasn't watering at all but since the first of June I've been out there just about every day with a watering can. Our average rainfall per year is around 50-60 inches........ Donald
I added more worms food for em. Finding egg sacks and little worms all over the tub. Hopefully by the fall i'll be able to start harvesting........... Donald
Great garden , my question is how many purple hull pea plants should i plant for a decent harvest for a family of 5,had some the other nite and they were delicious.
I guess that would depend on how often you want them. I planted 300 feet and have picked well over 20 ... 5 gal. buckets. If I'd of pick them all I would say 30 ... 5 gal. buckets out of those 300 ft....... Donald
that worm bin looks extremely wet. maybe add more dry leaves worms would like a break from eating all of those green materials. Love teh vids keep up the goo gardening.
Hello Donald, You seem to have some great soil there. What a great job you are doing. Love your dog - I have two big labs and yesterday they decided to go through a screened window to chase something.
My garden is a work in progress but your videos are an inspiration...
Not sure how to spell "Losh pa top a ta," but it's fun to say (as is most French). I hope to come up with my own tagline and series of videos some day.... and I hope they are at least half as good these. Great job once again!
how do you keep all the bugs away from them? so that they don't go bad? my squash has alot of bugs that are eating the plant and i spray pest control on it but they come back.
My tomatoes are all bad and i don't know why. They are still on the vine but the bottoms are all black and starting to rot. I don't know why is it the heat or do they have some kind of plague?? please help!
Beautiful productive garden - and all without mulch (that I could see) or raised beds or even double digging. You've broken all the rules that I thought were so very important and still have this beautiful garden. Good job! Thanks for the tour.
I hope you get some watermelons later this year! And by the way i think Kohlrabi's pronounced something like - "Coal-raa-bee" or "Coal-raw-bee". I like your "call-bree" or "calibree" better hah!
I have some watermelon now but the plants are starting to die off. No rain, really hot for this time of the year, it's not good for the garden........ Donald
You're getting fancy with your intros Donald. It reminds me of a PBS special from the 80's. Good video as usual. By the way, can you freeze squash and/or zucchini? I also am producing more than I eat...
It's an heirloom variety "Coustralee" and I really don't recommend them. If you want 12 tomato plants better plant at least 36. They do produce huge tomatoes but just not worth the trouble....... Donald
I figure if someone takes the time to comment, I should take the time to respond. It is taking me a little longer these days but that's OK. I enjoy it........ Donald
I have never seen a tomato plant the big in my life. Ours aren't even two foot yet, and don't have any tomatos on any of them. Maybe it has to do w/ all the cold nights we had back in late May and part of june.
The heat along with the humidity is a killer. Can only stay out there a little while then have to come in and cool off a bit in the fan. It's also been real dry lately so that's not good for the garden. Went from too wet to too dry.......... Donald
WoW your tomatoes are CRAZY huge and so healthy looking!! I loved the tour (always do lol) How do you seperate the worm castings from everything else? Great video once again :-)
Wow Donald ! Your worm bin has really done well. You are a natural ! Good for you with the compost tea. I have turned my son onto compost tea back in Ontario & he has been making the tea & spreading it on my lawn & flower beds. No veggie gardent there tho. So happy to see you benefiting from the worm bin & compost tea. No looking back now eh !
My father raised worms for many years so I do have some experience with the worms. The tea I'm making now is from my compost and what I call "Swamp Dirt". I have to be careful cause it will burn peppers. Have to cut it with water or it's too strong. I do have plans for the fall garden......... Donald
have you tried swisschard baked for 20minutes at 400 with parmeasean cheese olive oil or butter ,salt ,pepper, maybe some more spices it taste so good like in a restuarant
Those tomato plants totally devoured the tomato cages! If they get any bigger, you're gonna need a baseball bat to fight your way through them to harvest! :)
Those worms are doing great. The castings will make a great potting mix addition for nest spring.
You should see the size of these tomatoes I picking. No joke, 2+ lbs. beat my record by a long shot. Really looking forward to making tea out of the castings....... Donald
Awesome crops Donald. Those tomatoes sure look wonderful....and the corn! Red soil is the best. I've just I got my first ever snowpea pod. lol I expect to see your choco...mirliton..covering the net within a couple of weeks. Thanks for the great tour.
I hope the Mirliton does well but this heat is really giving it a hard time right now. This has got to be the hottest June we've had in awhile. Congrats on the snowpeas........ Donald
Those tomato plants were awesome! I think Im going to cages next year, Im really tired of tying up tomatoes..LOL. And the way we pronouce Kohlrabi is...coal-rob-e. Dont know if that is right or not. Enjoy all of your videos I learn lots. Thanks
With these tomatoes I had to tie a few after they grew above the cages and they still fell over. Picked one the other day that went over 2 lbs. Got quite a few more on there that size or bigger. One tomato is big enough to feed the whole family. LOL .......... Donald
I pick mine when they start turning cause if I leave them on till they turn red, something will happen to em. Bugs or birds will get them....... Donald
Salut Donald! You helped inspire me to grow my small garden this year. I'm getting ripe tomatoes already and one bloom on my watermelon plants but everything else is still busy getting started good.
I consider 1 plant in a container a small garden, anything bigger than that is a garden. LOL I've got a few watermelon that would go 15-25 lbs. but not sure they'll survive this dry spell we are in........ Donald

Jane (my wife) is fixing green beans seasoned with ham hocks tomorrow. It sure is nice to not have to buy a few things at the grocery store.
Snap beans are one of my favorite vegetables. I like them with bacon, onions and new potatoes on rice. Boy that's good. Enjoyed your latest video....... Donald
looking great Donald! i'm glad to see weeds in your corn rows makes me feel a little better about my garden hehe. what are you going to put the compost tea in? the worms are looking great i don't know mch about them but it looks like it's done and ready for round two! hope your doing well and hope to see you again!!- caleb
Hey Caleb ... Those worms are sure doing a great job. Since I did the vid, I've added another 5 lbs. of worms to the tub. Hoping to make compost / worm tea for the garden.
I've started my fall tomatoes which are about 3 inches tall right now....... Donald
great video Donald. glad to see everything is growing so well. i am very happy to see that you have weeds in your corn rows... makes me fill a little better about my garden. i have stoped weeding b/c the plants are to big and rows to close so weeding is difficult. it's harvest time for me!! for everything but the tomatoes and okra. it's a good thing so i can till in those weeds of mine hehe. hope your doing well hope to see you again sone!

I'm going to settle down and watch the rest of the videos.
Thanks webcajun.
