  • wow that lady playing the instrument is like a magician :D she moves so fast

  • Du vet det er noe alvorlig galt med menneskeheten når den jævla Haba Haba-styggedommen vinner over dette her!?!?

  • Helene has the voice of an angel! She sings from her soul, so beautiful.

  • I really enjoyed with the instrument girl who dissapear and appear again into another place ^^

  • Very good song, very beautiful singer.

  • Yup, I'm in love :)

  • Wow. GREAT

  • jævla habahaba møkk.. dette er jo EPIC!

  • Very good song. :D

  • Det burde være på Eurovision!! Det er sååååååååå peeeeen sang da! ;*

  • @MySlutz Hva forteller det ?

  • @morradiermann90 forteller meg litt om folka som ser på dette :p

  • Hjelp. Får frysninger som faen. ;o

  • HabaHaba ..... :(

  • So pretty i love this song

  • in which language is she singing? i guess in norwegian but... in which of the 2 dialects?

  • @manzacom there are more than 2 dialects... :P You are referring to our 2 variants of written language. Shes got a southwestern dialect.

  • @Thelargir i refered if she is singing in bokmål or nyorsk

  • @manzacom dude, she is singing, not writing....

  • @manzacom well, i guess you can say shes singing in "nynorsk", but since that is a written language, it isnt really possible.

  • have been puzzled about this text, trying to make sense of its deeper meaning. Looking at the lyrics it seems to me that it may be a song of protection, to ward off evil spirits, or specifically Fryktesangen (The Song of Fear). The word vard is similar to the english word ward, meaining protection of some kind. But my theory depends on the last point being that it means that OR that she fears the song: Eg Frykte sangen). after all in norse times magic were performed through song. only a theory

  • @Darkpaint84 Provided you speak Norwegian you'll get a nice insight to the meaning of this song on heleneboksle.no

  • I want to get married in that outfit... oh my!..

And this is such a beautiful song- how this didn't make it as Norway's finalist this year I will never understand...

  • Still listening this song!

    Enjoyed every moment!

  • @Honeysucklebommie You're welcome =)

  • maybe not a perfect translation, but hope you understand

  • @teddyen28 Thanks :-)

  • Vardlokk

    Soul Calling Song*

Now the women are calling for the song

They ask me to send my soul out

The power of the song I learned long ago

To spin a thread, call to the spirits to respond

  • I fear that the song will flood my senses

I shy away from the power of each note

They say the chant can form a circle

Where we two can reconcile once again to dance

    Dreaming, winding you in

    Time's web is set

The volva** is waiting in the innermost circle

Demanding that my soul sing the way for her

I shall sing and fasten my stitches

    Find you among the spirits

  • * Vardlokk doesn't have a direct translation. It's adapted from "varde", meaning to set road markers, and "lokk" meaning a calling-song.

** The song is based on Old Norse folk tales of a "volva", a shamanic seeress. Legends told that they could send their soul into the world of spirits with the help of a circle of chanting women. When it was time for the seeress to return, a woman would sing a "vardlokk" in order to make sure the seeress' soul would be safely returned to her body.

  • Lovely voice, not her best song, though, and I don't think the curls were working for her.

And, oh, boy, am I staying out of the Norwegian dialect argument.... :).

  • @hornvin: I do not agree with you. People in the East of Norway understand the dialect of other parts of Norway. The language is still Norwegian, only the dialects are different and can be hard to understand. Helene seems to be singing Nynorsk.

  • Thx Norway, that you not sending her to the Esc.so the other countrys have a choice too win the contest,

she has one of the bests voices that i ever hear, this song is great, but she has better ones to,like the dreaming-mitt land or natta vi har, most of us did not understand what she sing, but we can feel it,thx norway for this musican

    greets from switzerland

  • She can sweep me off to Valhalla anytime she likes.

  • What kind of instrument is that girl playing? :S

    - Norwegian Esc-fan

  • @MrHednah Langeleik

  • No preview video yet?

  • No kalle kvinnene saman te sang dei ber meg sende mine gander krafta i kvadet eg lærde ein gang spinne tråd, lokke så ander gjer klang Frykte sangen vil fløyma min sans Kvie for makta i kvar tone Dei seie lokken vil danna ein krans Der me to atter forsone te dans Drøyme. Vinde deg inn. Tia fer sitt spinn. Volva vente i innerste ring Krev at eg varde ho med gander Eg ska kvea og festa mitt sting finna deg blant ander

    Here the lyrics

  • This should have represented Norway at ESC 2011!!!

  • I'm Norwegian, and I don't understand a lot of what she is singing... ^^'

BUT the song is awesome! ;D

  • @MrHednah what? isn't she singing in norwegian

  • @MrDanyal974 She is singing norwegian, but in norway, the language is very different from place to place. Most people have no problem understanding each other, but people from the east of norway, who speak the most boring norwegian you could ever imagine ( its closer to danish than original norwegian) do not understand the language from other places in the country.

  • @hornvin ok i didn't know thanks a lot ;)

  • @hornvin Do you really believe that or are you just lying? People from Eastern Norway speak many different dialects as well you damn fool! We understand other dialects just fine, thank you very much!!!

  • @MrDanyal974 It is Norwegian, i can understand it perfectly. She isnt singing in my dialect tho. Maybe he`s just awful at understanding vocal sounds ^^

  • @kmzzzzz thanks ;)

  • My favourite song in MGP 2011...

It's better that Haba Haba. Well, I think so...

  • This is Great. Feel our roots from where we became.

I just Love what you are doing helene.

  • I am from Norway myself, and this song is truly beautiful. When I hear it, a picture of the amazing norwegian nature, takes me away!-3 It makes me proud of being norwegian, and I'm only 16!

  • I am from Turkey and this song is give on the creeps to me, loves to beautiful Norge! :)

  • If she had been chosen , norway would have been in the top 5 .

Shame on you norwegians , shame on you cause you did not show your own european , scandinavian beauty.

    ...

    Greetings from macedonia <3

  • @iglesiassr11 you probably mean FYROM ;)

  • @niki89m

    double shame on you..

Yes , we are FYROM .. but we , the macedonians are 100x times more smarter, kinder and a nice nation , comparing to you ..

you are not even slavs ,you are just civilizated gypsies ;)

Everything that had been ours , will be our once again ;)

inclding the most beautiful part of bulgaria , pirin macedonia :*

  • @iglesiassr11 keep dreaming... bwe are not gypsies, the romanians are, but don`t forget that your fellows the albanians fuck your women ;) and you ARE from FYROM... not macedonia. macedonia is an area in bulgaria. learn some geography and then say from where you are, serbo-albanian piece of shit.

  • @niki89m

    hmm ..

I dont know about it .. albanians are 500.000 in macedonia , and they are civilizated nation now ..

and you .. I am truly sad , but you have over 900.000 gypsies.. :( :(

and the language that you talk , it's not bulgarian , Is a version of macedonian language in a gypsy way.

  • @niki89m

and if I need to learn geography , you need to learn a elementary level of balkanic history , not to mention that pirin macedonia , agean macedonia , that now , are not ours , WERE OUR .AND THEY ARE STILL.

the ppl that live in petrich, Kjusdengil , Sandanski ..

    THEY ARE ASIMILATED MACEDONIANS

MY GRANDPA HAS A HOUSE IN PETRICH WITH PAPERS.

i am pretty sorry but have just defeated you at anything.

    :*

  • @iglesiassr11 Really? My grandmother is from Bitola and she never, NEVER said that she is macedonian as ethnicy, she always said that she is bulgarian. The truth is that macedonian ethnicy doesn`t exist ;)

You aren`t so much different then you wish to be, that is your mental problem.

I will enjoy the beautiful song sanged by this beautiful norwegian singer and wont bother

    to answer a donkey anymore.

At least the greeks fucked you hard ;)

  • @niki89m

We will see about that , Infact you replied to my comment , in which you were not even mentioned !

that shows your culture and education and dignity.

  • @iglesiassr11 Make a forum and discuss this, this is not a relevant comment to this video :]

  • how the fuck did this not go to eurovision?? it's so norwegian!

  • @TheSjpower it really is the epitome of nordic/norwegian, indeed! she looks and sounds like a valkyrie. ja, vi elsker dette landet! frelse på norge

  • @TheSjpower Because that show is not worthy of her?

  • what a boring song, im so sick and tired of norwegian folks songs, but i agree that Stella didnt reprecent norway in any way neither. Lets hope for a better song next year.

  • *all biscuits go into hiding*

  • when i heard this kind of music it chills into my nerve.............

  • Shame on you Norge!!!Helene was fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Not only is this better than Haba Haba, it would've harvested lots of points from the bbw-lovers out there. I'm thinking Germany would burst their cell network.

  • Thsi would had gone to the final top 10 for sure.

  • Norway got what they deserved not sending this.

  • @miamigal71 , u think it was better to send a monkey with haba haba ?

  • @miamigal71 , and u can go fuck yourself

  • Europe wants Helene instead Stella! Stella is good but Helene is GREAT!

  • Norwegians have lost it when they prefer Haba Haba over this. Makes me ashamed to live here, what if people think I'm Norwegian? DX

  • Gave up Norway in Eurovision Song Contest last year, when Didrik Solli Tangen won the Norwegian contest. We could've won the whole shit if Keep of Kalessin got voted up to the top, not only because Norway is the birthplace of Death Metal, but because it's UNIQUE. If we are to send someone to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest, why don't we pick someone who actually says "THIS IS NORWAY" when listening to the song? You don't find anything more norwegian than folk songs and death metal.

  • @Wowkugen Amen to that!

  • En vinner Sang!

  • haha, jeg driter i MGP uansett......

  • norway wont to win this year this festival....i cant find other reasson for habba habba and not this song..... is simple amazing...!!!!!

NORSK STOLT vakker lyd <3

  • This is what i call a Song,, so perfect...

Haba Haba Norway ;-) I hope you hear my laugh all the way from sweden....

  • Amazing song <3 Reminds me secret garden!!

Should have represent Norway this year <3

  • that reminds me te song "the voice" for ireland ........who won in the nineties

  • Lena is going to this Contest to ... but Helene would win this that´s 4 sure

  • MrsCasablancas ... i agree why the Norwegian do this ...

  • Why Norway, oh why you did't vote her through? :( I learned about this girl from Age of Conan. The Norwegian siren that gave soul to the lands of Cimmeria. Sending my thanks to Helene from Finland

  • @Kayin79 I learned about her from AoC, too. Has she gained a few kilos? Anyway, awesome voice. Reminds me of Conan. Awesome.

  • @AleXy86 well, she looks amazing :) a few more pounds of beauty cant harm :P

  • Denne sangen er fin, men ikkenoe slår Alexander Rybak :D I hvertfall ikke haba haba :P

  • @Ustolbare eg e ikkje fordomsfull!

og unnskyld meg for at eg e stolt over dialekten min din banna kødd!!!

  • This song should have represented Norway. I suspect Haba Haba was chosen due to political correctness. Vardlokk was yet another victim of multiculturalism.

  • Wonderful, so mystic... but norway had a few good finalists. Norway has a good taste!

    12 Points from Germany

  • @GhostisBoo i cant agree with you there. i am from norway and to be honest norway has kinda crapy taste of music sine they choose habba habba and on the norwegian x-factor its always the guys who doesnt get anywhere who wins

  • @twintipskilz some people got crappy taste in music, but "haba haba" seems more catchy, and therefore will have a greater shot in ESC than songs with SOUL!!!!

  • Enchanting song! Actually should have represented Norway!!

  • Die Brunhilde ist gut! :-)

  • !!!!!! why did norway sent haba haba??? :(

  • really sweet and nice voice and song,

    waswish to win helene,,<3

  • @TheLuflee it was the second best but i really do agree with you :D

  • @Nosansinson No, the first :D

? skjer her NRK? HEI HUN VANT! INGEN KAN KOMMENTERE HENNE?

  • @Trixxuz for mange hat kommentarer....

skjønner det når denne burde ha vunnet ;)

  • I think this was a really good song but then again most of them were really good.

  • Haven’t a clue what she’s singing about but it’s so much better than Haba Haba - sorry Norway but I hope you didn’t make a mistake! That said I think Haba Haba should do well enough, top 10 at least.

  • Vardlokk by Helene Bøksle should have won!

  • @okTHB MORSOM DU!

norge = gode vokal prestasjoner, norrøn inspirert, fiolin/fele...

    men norge e best ;)

  • @OrthrusTails Tusen takk, velger å se bort ifra den åpenbare sarkasmen :-)

For all del, Norge er et kjempefint land å bo i, mye fint her. Liker meg her jeg hvertfall

  • this IS MUSIC and not waka waka you have sended!!!! shame on you norway!

  • But what?

  • OI! ser dere at hun spille dama plutselig er en annen plass? grøss... :o

  • typisk norsk det der synes æ

  • I'm a bit ashamed of being Norwegian this year in Eurovision Song Contest. Here we have this wonderful and amazing Norwegian folk song, that would represent Norway in a perfect way. But instead we send Stella to Düsseldorf.

    I DON'T GET IT.

  • @MrsCasablancas1 Agreed!

    1994 (Secret Garden - Nocturne)

    2006 (Christine Guldbransen - Alvedansen)

    2011 (Helene Bøksle - Vardlokk)

bør vel få noe bra innen 2015 ikkje sant??

  • @OrthrusTails Secret Garden var i 1995

  • @Eurovision1994 liten typo...

  • @TheKluten Helt enig! DETTE er musikk! Ikke dette habahaba-fjaset vi nå sender videre!

  • Helene Bøksle til aller-aller-aller-siste sjanse i MGP-kvalikken! ;)
