I come here and listen to this category of music for hours. Unfortunately bed time gets here before I've listened to all the music I want to hear. Be back tomorrow night, maybe listen to some Susannah McCorkle and Lena Horne then.
I really like this song, and am looking for a better recording of it, I would say this is a bit tinny, and maybe another is cleaner recording on youtube: 2TEZBoIDggI
@opticell The recordings from "Sun Valley Serenade" and "Orchestra Wives", by 20th Century Fox are about the clearest recordings of the actual Glenn Miller Band that I am aware of.
Durning the ww2...fell in love with his music. Talk about dancing to it. LOL... Did it all summer long. Still dancing to his music at 80. LOL.....Still love it.....

Right there with you friend! Saw the Glenn Miller orchestra last night for my birthday treat bawled like a five year old with a skinned knee. So so so many memories.
I heard on the news a few months ago that they figured out what happened to him a british bomber accidentally shot him down it was foggy out and they could see well so I guess what they thought was a enemy plane turned out to be an american plane and I agree with Anniejapannie I've heard of them do check out imformation in your area
Jerry Gray wrote this song. The title was about Pearl Street in Boston where he grew up and where his relatives lived on the same street. It had nothing to do with the "pearls" Jimmy Stewart gave his wife in the Glenn Miller story. Great movie anyway. Great song!! My Dad was Jerry Gray. Thanks, Al Gray
@petcherb - they do! Depends where you are, but see if your city has a Lindy Hop scene. Most cities in the US do these days, and increasingly across the world. Do a quick google search for lindy hop or swing lessons in your area. It's a great hobby and lets you relive a little of the class of the past.
Women were Women then. There all trying to be blokes now. Take a look girls, This is how us guys like our women, if you care that is... which I doubt! Great great tune
Yeah, I love this song. Our school's jazz band played it today, and I LOVE playing that piano solo. Small, yet simple. I like it. That's the way Glenn miller's band does.
Omg all these actors were so classy and this is when being curvy was really sexy before models starve themselves
