  • When I hear this kind of music I think of the old cartoons that were made like Tom & Jerry etc. :D

  • I come here and listen to this category of music for hours. Unfortunately bed time gets here before I've listened to all the music I want to hear. Be back tomorrow night, maybe listen to some Susannah McCorkle and Lena Horne then.

  • I really like this song, and am looking for a better recording of it, I would say this is a bit tinny, and maybe another is cleaner recording on youtube: 2TEZBoIDggI

  • @opticell This is the original recording. Two track at best with no EQ, or very little.

  • @opticell The recordings from "Sun Valley Serenade" and "Orchestra Wives", by 20th Century Fox are about the clearest recordings of the actual Glenn Miller Band that I am aware of.

  • Bobby Hackett's crystalline trumpet solo is still a thing of enduring beauty, lo these many years later.

  • The trumpet solo at 2:03 my Dad used to play when he played in one of the many bands he played in. inc, kenny ball and chris barber

  • Glenn Miller is not dead. He's like Elijah or St. Mary, he just kind of went up without death.

  • I wish you had included Gene Tierney! I love the video, what a great take on a classic song. Classy!

  • CHECK OUT CBKELTON.COM THANKS, VERY GOOD

  • Wow! Gorgeous women and wonderful music!

  • At 2:06 into this video, Bobby Hackett plays the best cornet solo of all time.

  • GREAT

  • O.O the women in the video are so gorgeous!!! Nice music too. xP

  • My jazz bands gonna play this at a school dance, and we sound really good and similar to this (I play guitar)

  • why so many women

  • Jerry Gray wrote this song. The title was about Pearl Street in Boston where he grew up and where his relatives lived on the same street. It had nothing to do with the "pearls" Jimmy Stewart gave his wife in the Glenn Miller story. Great movie anyway. Great song!! My Dad was Jerry Gray. Thanks, Al Gray

  • My moms favorite. I can still see her & dad dancing in our living room to it.

  • Wished they still had ballrooms to dance to this kind of music and dress as these people did when they had class

  • @petcherb Absolutely mate!!!!!!

  • @petcherb Good news for you, they do! Many (young) people rediscover the music of the 40s. Try searching for swing dance events in your area.

  • @petcherb - they do! Depends where you are, but see if your city has a Lindy Hop scene. Most cities in the US do these days, and increasingly across the world. Do a quick google search for lindy hop or swing lessons in your area. It's a great hobby and lets you relive a little of the class of the past.

  • @petcherb they do...Port Elgin Big Band Festival...really worth the trip...Google it!

  • @petcherb Um, they do. Look up local swing societies. I almost guarantee you you have one.

  • @petcherb Seems as if people have no class at all anymore. It is very sad.

  • Listen to the Bobby Hackett trumpet solo at 2:03...What an all time riff that is!

  • When we were sad he' played it - the sun did rise again.

    That's happy memories! RIP Markus.

  • just magic !!

  • Now these ladies have got some class. I love this music.

  • Classy song--one of my longtime favorites. And classy ladies -- yes, Marilyn too

  • Does anyone besides me notice a resembelence between Ava Gardner (one of mt favorites) and Cathering Zeta-Jones?

    Great photos, great music!

  • @BrickPa NO

  • Women were Women then. There all trying to be blokes now. Take a look girls, This is how us guys like our women, if you care that is... which I doubt! Great great tune

  • Yeah, I love this song. Our school's jazz band played it today, and I LOVE playing that piano solo. Small, yet simple. I like it. That's the way Glenn miller's band does.
