  • BRAVO! The music is great and so is the piano. I just hope I can afford to buy the latter. :(

  • This is a version of Bach's Prelude No 1 (as stated by Marisaguria) modified by Gounod for the prayer "Ave Maria".

The original was written as part of Bach's masterwork "Well Tempered Clavier" suite of pieces where he established the ground rles for the new instrument, the pianoforte, and how it should be learned/taught.

It is very beautiful, is it not?

  • @shyjonty actually, bach wrote pieces in every key in order to demonstrate how the new keyboard tuning system worked.

  • Bach wrote this as part of his seminal "Well Tempered Clavier" how to play piano work. It has since been used as the basis of several versions of the prayer "Ave Maria".

  • what's the difference between Bach's version and Schubert's?

  • Music? ;)

  • lol

  • @FreeSheetPianoMusic

    lol great! :°D

  • is that a serious question???

  • @boobtrash Hi .. Never existed two versions of Ave Maria. What exists are two ( different compositions at different times. Around 1825, Franz Schubert composed his Ave Maria. J. S. Bach in 1722, composed his Prelude nr. 1 in C major. 137 years later, in 1859, the French composer Charles Gunoud composed a melody for the prayer Ave Maria, superimposed to Prelude nr. 1 Bach. So Bach did not write the Ave Maria, but Gunoud from your Prelude. Summary: There are two different "Ave Maria".

  • @boobtrash

There are three writers and two "AVE MARIA" different. In 1722, J. S. Bach wrote his Prelude nr.1. In 1859, the French composer Charles Gunoud, overlapped to a melody of Bach Prelude, then composing his famous "AVE MARIA". Meanwhile, in 1825, Franz Schubert composed his "AVE MARIA". Both are completely different. So there were never two versions, but two different songs for the same letter / prayer Ave Maria in Latin.

  • @boobtrash you already listened to both versions? oO

  • @boobtrash First of all you should know that Bach never wrote an Ave Maria, because he was a protestant. But, he wrote a book called Das Wohltemperierte Klavier, and the first prelude in that book is his famous prelude in C. Later a frenchman called Charles Gounod wrote a Meditation (Ave Maria) and he used Bach's prelude in C as accompagnement.

And then you cant compare the Ave Maria by Bach/Gounod and the Ave Maria by Schubert because they are from two different periods. Baroque - Romantic.

  • @boobtrash one difference is that Bach's version is the most unknown one, and usually only heard instrumental.

  • Very beautiful I like the mix of the two music.

  • Nice rendition, nice touch on the keyboard.

  • Good playing there.

  • wow very well played!
