Thank you for making this video. I was homeless due to family violence and I was fortunate that an emergency shelter allowed me to use their services. But the shelter stay was not long enough to find housing and I had nowhere safe to go. It is a terrible feeling and it has made me more grateful for the things I have now. None of us should ever forget those who suffer every single day and help find solutions.Thank you once again for shedding light on a problem that we can help with.

Believe it or not there are like 'sub-species' no disrespect intended for some are friends of ours. When we take them in from time to time some had been out on the streets so long they could not handle being indoors. How that extreme was ever allowed to happen in a country such as Canada stuns my soul! No one is immune to this ...

even in the small town I used to live in, in Missouri, you would see homeless people. I can remember being younger and going to the post office in the very very early hours of the morning to mail off some letters and there would be about three or four people laying on the floor covering themselves with coats to keep warm. I literally had to step over two of them to mail off my letters. It is sad to see that.
Oh this is so sad, very powerful emotion on me when seing people in such a situation. if I have the power, I'll do something to help people in such a state.

some people are homeless because it is a "lifestyle choice" they have made, some are addicts of one kind or another, some have nowhere else to turn, I think the reasons are as individual as the people themselves maybe we should start trying to see a real person, not a statistic, or a social phenomenon
This is exactly an excellent point. People need to stop and talk to these people. Find out WHY they are homeless...so many get used to it that they are afraid to go back into society. Some are actually happier, some are miserable...some suicidal, others messengers...it is so important to see the Real person inside them. Each are as individual as the petals on a precious flower.
EA .. you are absolutely right .. many of these cases must be looked at individually .. but at the end of the day .. they're all homeless .. bringing them back to society requires looking into their problems on an individual basis .. that's where we the families come into play .. thank you for the insight!

I have been reading all the comments: If I took a slice from each one that I agree with it would take far to many 500 characters! " War!" If we were to dump all weapons of mass destruction that exist in the world! Into the sea we would drown ourselves!! If we used all the money that created these weapons, to feed and home all humans, then this kind of thing might not be happening!!

We are so greedy, so selfish and self centered. We spend money on weapons and on luxurious things and don't even think about the suffering of our brothers in humanity. What happened to us? Don't we feelings anymore??!!

even in the small town I used to live in, in Missouri, you would see homeless people. I can remember being younger and going to the post office in the very very early hours of the morning to mail off some letters and there would be about three or four people laying on the floor covering themselves with coats to keep warm. I literally had to step over two of them to mail off my letters. It is sad to see that.

This world is being judged on how the lowest amongest us are being treated. They are all someones parents,sister,brother,neighbors,they are veterans, mentally ill, abused,thrown away, or ignored. We live in paradise yet we complain over over trivial things that these people would love to have. Most people are only a few paychecks away from this.

some people are homeless because it is a "lifestyle choice" they have made, some are addicts of one kind or another, some have nowhere else to turn, I think the reasons are as individual as the people themselves maybe we should start trying to see a real person, not a statistic, or a social phenomenon

This is exactly an excellent point. People need to stop and talk to these people. Find out WHY they are homeless...so many get used to it that they are afraid to go back into society. Some are actually happier, some are miserable...some suicidal, others messengers...it is so important to see the Real person inside them. Each are as individual as the petals on a precious flower.

This tears a persons heart, but then I think why are they homeless. Drugs..Booze..Gambling..Lazy?
All that fits in to the reasons. All our jobs being sent overseas. It all adds up. We take care of other countries and we cant take care of our own here in America. Such a shame. Something has to be done and soon. Great vid Hans..Great message. (5*) Sherry

...for most of us, a couple of paychecks is all that separates us and the people in this video. Each day is a blessing to have a roof over our heads...one that could quickly change like the weather. We can all help those less fortunate within our communities. Get involved...make the time.
