  • This trailer made the movie appear sleazy and titillating but it isn't. I actually liked the movie a lot...just dont take it seriously. Patty Duke singing with this guy in the sanitarium is so bizarre. :)

  • lov ethis movie

  • the book is amazing!

  • I never saw the film, but am somewhat familiar with it. That said, I laughed my ass off on this trailer.

  • .....this is the best Film, almost as good as Mommie Dearest....."sparkle Nealy, spakle"...

  • Let it all fuckin droop...

  • really a soap opera

  • I found the hard back copy of the Valley of The Dolls in an old bookstore,,I feel like I found such a treasure.. and I bought the DVD and it has great interviews with Jaqueline Susan.. it showed her writing her book..it had a short interview with Sharon Tate. She was so beautiful. What a shame a life cut short by such sickening circumstances. She still would have been stunning today. awful. The movie I find fun to watch because it's all New England.. Great Dionne Warwick song..

  • it's always someone else's fault for being a substance abuser huh??

  • 1:38

way too many celebrities could say that about them selves

  • Everything about the 60's creeps me out.

  • This is my favorite book The Valley of the Dolls. I have read many times throughout my life, and every time I liked it better. The film is fine, but as the book and the power transmitted by the characters, no comparison, is much better. I read the book the first time when I was 14 years, becoming a teenager! I never tire of reading it!

  • LOL, she got her wig snatched up at 2:28!!!

  • If you can laugh at this movie, you are normal, no matter what age you are. If you actually watch this movie so you can laugh at it, you are gay, and there's nothing wrong with that. Just realize it and you'll be happier.

  • I am 19 now but I think im the only person I know in my age group that knows this movie and I love it, I still have it on vhs. My grandma introduced me to it when I was 10. Sometimes your elders really know what they are talking about.

  • @blondeupsidedown baby doll, i'm 20 and this was my favourite movie when i was 6 years old hahaha. you're not alone.

  • WITH THAT LITTLE WHORE!

  • 2:15 tht whole part was deffinaly diffrent from the movie. They sound diffrent and in the movie Susan says "man" not guy

  • Watching this film taught me that "Broadway don't go for boooooze and dope..."

  • The actress at 33 not only had to get the bottle of pills to spill over but had to make sure the bottle was facing the camera. Wonder how many takes it took? She probably ended up having to take a doll after take 50.

  • Red pills and blue pills, What a STUPID book and even worse movie. If you like this movie you are as retarted as someone saying "OH! I think I will take a blue pill today"

  • @Jeffluvs80s But...I think I *will* take a blue pill today,

  • @Jeffluvs80s Your dick tastes awesome. It's so, like, '80s. Let's listen to some Thompson Twins before I turn you around...

  • @VyleKyle The theme is gay too. I'm gay.... Oh crap! everything so F-ing gay!

  • @Jeffluvs80s See, now you get it. Fuck this gay movie. I hate everything and everyone.

  • Barbara Parkins has the most intriguing speaking voice, alluring and sexy while still sounding so smart and classy.

  • The trailer is a bit inaccurate with the film. Susan Hayward's character "Helen Lawson" never took dolls.

  • I wish they set the movie the same time line as the book

  • This book has helped me stay sober.

  • Great movie!

  • The book was far better than the movie.

  • @shili12000 The book always is !

  • Just read the book!! Awesome!! Wanna see this, an awesome camp classic

  • Yo leí este libro hace unos años y lo sigo amando: es excelente, original sin duda

  • 3:18 *cough* *cough* Judy Garland *cough* Nelly O'hara *sneeze*

  • GREAT FILM.........................

  • Isn't this like the first sex and the city? lol

  • Love this movie, brings back memories!! Just love the guy (voice) of the intro to the move here....the good ole days! The days of great movie trailers!

  • un buen libro... te enseña demasiado.

  • This movie is fabulous camp, read the book first! Patty Duke is amazing...

  • just watched this film - the absolute worst movie i have ever seen - total garbage!!

  • I heard th worse movie ever made was "I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE." This was a good movie for the 1960's! Shame on you....

  • i spit on your grave, is it worth seeing?

  • @jediguardian10 If you like crap movies it is.

  • @MPL029 ah. so it sucks ass.

  • @jediguardian10 the only reason Im familiar with it is because one of the actors is now a singing coach in NYC. And teaches at the conservatory that I went to. Its your basic late 70s, low budget slice'em and dice'em flicks. fun if youre intot hat

  • if you've seen this trailer is the movie, you've seen the movie.

  • I LOVE this movie, and the book is even better! <3

  • @mothersfreakout totally agree, the book is one of the best for sure!!!!!

  • Always loved this series.

    Abraços

  • great movie!!!Beautiful Sharon Tate

  • Great movie.

    Long live Sharon Tate.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • tate was not murdered by manson.

  • rest in forever peace Sharon Tate.

  • Comment removed

  • poor sharon tate murdered by manson when she was pregnant terrible

  • that little whore makes me feel 9 feet tall. doubt that would be said in Hollywood today. Maybe reversed with women in sex & city. Times have reversed.

  • my "personal story"of VD. Catholic School, 7th grade history class.... the teacher - Sister Joan - came in one Mon. with an "awful" tale of a "don't let this happen to you kids" film she had just seen....yep, VD! Sister spent the hour going over the entire plot, along with character analysis. "jennifer had one of those 'awful operations!'..... S/J, was clearly hooked. I kept looking around the classroom to see if anyone else thought this class was pretty darn odd. .

  • [Mel} is the JOKE of the town!

    signed,

    Ted Casablanca

  • It might be an idea if you read a book called "CALL ME ANNA" - It is Patty Dukes autobiography - I think you will be shocked.

  • Patty Duke was born to be Actor, she is so sharp! What a pro so very young, I bet Bette Davis, and Susan Hayward noticed this youngster walking in, to one day replace them, I mean I suspect they would have approoved..

Patty DUkes got Fire, and Strength!!

  • @Vstar4me Read Call me Anna, she was taken from her mother as a child, with the promise of macking her an actor, she is great , but was abused to act well,in EVERYWAY she had to obey her keepers.

  • @ldyreal Yes sadly I have heard Duke tell of her beginnings, and also dealing w/ mental issues. I think it makes her all the more brilliant for doing so well under these added stressors.

    Thanks for the email.

  • When this movie originally came out it was considered "racey" the booze, the pills, abortion etc. Quite tame by today's standards.......

  • Now you get out of my way i've got a man waiting for me !

  • Patty rocks. She played the part they gave her to play. Since I know she's a great actress, I know she played the role to the utmost.

  • You truly have to view this movie several times to appreciate the sheer campiness of the performances...they vary from wooden to over the top and back again. Judy Garland was originally slated to play Helen Lawson. As a camp classic, it would be hard to top "Valley of the Dolls."

  • I love the catfight in the toilet!

  • . . hhh . . oh my God, . . it's a wig !

  • I want "Sparkle, Neely, sparkle!" on a tee shirt. Bad.

  • I LOVE U.

  • @ktm760 get one made online!! i make shirts on zazzle all the time

  • Who took the green M&Ms?!

  • It is unintentionally funny, but holds up quite well for a movie made 40 years ago or so. You have to admit that it's not boring, it moves along well - and PATTY DUKE, even though she's over-the-top in certain scenes, keeps it interesting.

  • awsome film!

  • sparkle Neely SPARKLE!!!!!

  • this is all wrong. anne and jennifer both took red pills. neely took green, red and yellow pills. the book never said helen lawson took any pills!

  • i love this movie!

  • is this a really good movie??

Just want to hear some thoughts cuz i want to watch it but not waste my time if its not good

    thanks :D

  • This is a great movie. It tries to be serious, but you will laugh your head off. Patty Duke gives an over the top performance, worthy of an Academy Award.

  • i thought it was a very good movie. i guess at the time it got bad reviews, but i dont see why. i think people just took it too seriously

  • thanks i'll make sure to check it out :D

  • (Sharon tate, referring to her breasts) "Oh to hell with them. Let 'em droop" LOL! ^-^

Obviously from a time when all media had to be clear and unequivocal : "drugs are bad, mmmkay!!!!!"

But what's a "lush"? skank? alcoholic?

  • A lush is an alcoholic , or a drunk . :)

  • Ahh the reason why Micheal Jackson died! DEMEROL!!!

  • For some reason I am very fascinated by this movie.

  • So very sad Sharon Tate saying, "I'm pregnant".

  • One of the all time favs. Dionne Warwicke sanged the hell out of the theme. Love it until this day. The clothes were terrific. Too bad Jackie Susan died right after this came out. I loved Paul Burke so sexy and debonair. I remember seeing it in the theater and being young and inlove. Life was so beautiful then.

  • "then someone put her name in lights and turned her into a lush"

that was from the beginning of "ruby room" by the foxboro hot tubs

  • Barbara Parkins was so d*** hot. Seriously, I was born a year after this movie was made and I still think she's one of the best looking screens dames I've even seen. Yeah, I said dames you buncha squares....sorry for the Neely O'Hara moment.

  • Voice overs in trailers sucked back then. "She had an unhappy marriage, she took the red pills, she dies in the end of the movie. She likes walks in the park, her shoe size is seven and a half, she has two dogs and a cat. she..." Come on already!

  • Funniest thing I've read all week. Thank you for giving me a stomach ache! 8^D

  • Too contrived for words. Mr. Announcer proceeds regardless.

  • neely the best XD

  • 5 Stars. Hey, anyone know if the whole film is on here? I'm looking but haven't been able to find it... Thanks. : )

  • The books is better. The book is always better than the movie.

  • The announcer is wrong: Anne took Neely's red pills, not green pills...

  • They all took the red pills and Helen didn't take any pills, she just drank.

  • You're absolutely correct!!

  • i saw this movie today on tv and it was out of touch with the times as lawrence welk was with the 60s,especiALLY since its from 67,very boring movie and bad music only good thing about this movie was seeing sharan tate the beauty.

  • They were in touch with their respective demographics, and those were large demographics. It wasn't all hippy, drugs, peace, love,.......that was a significant but small part of the population,....... the majority were standard-quo, and conservative redneck types.

  • they were as square as lawrence welk during the 60s out of touch with the times, and the majority was about peace and love and hippies the beatles the stones the who the kinks all the popular groups proved that, thats why this music wasnt popular when it came out.

  • I need this movie

  • just read it, can't wait to watch it

  • This is one of my favorite bad movies!

  • This is a groovy film. I have it on DVD. Sharon Tate (IS) SO BEAUTIFUL and NATURAL. SO HEALTHY.

  • Sharon Tate was so stunning. Damn you Charlie.

  • LOL! Thanks for agreeing. But yet I love it! I just crack up scene after scene. I even got my husband to watch it....and he cracks up : )

  • I want to be one of those girls, and go MAAAAAD!!

  • @333snottbox333 No, you don't.

  • Sharon Tate was wonderful! It's such a shame those FUCKERS stabbed her to death while she was pregnant!

  • Comment removed

  • @mattibond she was she was such a natural beauty

  • @mattibond It is a shame....sick ass roaches. The one thing to remember is that those pigs have suffered a slow agonizing death over the past 41 years. They fucked their own pig asses. I think it's great that they've suffered for so long, too bad only one of the pigs got cancer.

  • Comment removed

  • @mattibond I agree !

  • If you've never seen it, settle back one night and enjoy, it shows in an exagerrated way how people turn when their ambition, ego and drugs all fall onto one another. Hollywood and real life aren't so far apart, plenty of 'real' people use drugs to get through life.

  • srugs sex beer lmao that covers it

  • instant turn on, instant love, instant excitement, instant coffee...

  • the trailer sounds like a crayon box.

  • A movie that became a classic!

    George Vreeland Hill

  • This movie is so much fun to watch...so bad it's wonderful...great camp and so many great lines..."ART FILMS? NUDIES that's what they are NUDIES"......"Boobies, Boobies, Boobies!" "yes mother..I AM doing my bust exercises" and on and on ...love it so much

  • Patty Duke is so cheap I can hardly look at her. Disgusting.

  • Just a minute, bub. It's true the CHARACTER she played was unsympathetic in many ways, but the ACTRESS is a class act across the board. An absolute beauty, she (along with her two co-stars) were sheer physical perfection in the "scadalous" V of the D. She has survived and thrived thru almost five decades of international stardom!

  • Patty Duke is all right. She had enough sense to admit that this was her worst performance, and it is. She's great in other movies, though. Check out the "Miracle Worker."

  • Oh I know, she is an excellent actress and VOD was cheesy, granted, but outside of her roles onscreen she seems very cheap and rather crude. But she was wonderful in Miracle Worker, I agree.

  • As good as the book I read in "secret" since I was so young then...

  • Sharon Tate was gorgeous!!! I would type that again but I won't but, DANG!!!

  • I want the green pills.....

  • When Susann came out with this novel in the 60s,it was as shocking Alien Autopsy. She was ahead of her time, thee first queen of trashy novels, but VERY REAL novels.Dealing with women's issues like virginity, drugs, addiction, false eyelashes, blowjobs, the compulsion for celebrity, scandal & homosexuality, issues that mothers during those times were mum about. But Jackie saw it coming,oh yes she did, and she was graphic about it,she made no qualms about tragic endings, she loved it all and gave it all!

  • I commented before- but all toegther a wonderful movie. Very true even today.

  • "that whore makes me feel 9 ft tall" LOL

  • Pills were referred to as dolls during the tumultuous 60's, because they gave relief and escape from the harsh realities of life. Like a doll, they give you company when your depressed, lonely, anxious, angry . . . they dont talk or argue, just use them and take them, and get high. You get addicted to prescription pills, then you come crashing down, ever deeper into the valley of reality after every high. Then you look for more, to take you ever higher again like climbing mount everest

  • Couldn't hav said it better myself! Thank u!

  • yeah.

    Sparkle Neely . . .Sparkle !

  • GREAT movie!

  • what's with the pills?
