I have the same radio that is a family heirloom and I'd love to restore it. It works, but it can't hold a radio station -- the signal keeps wandering in and out. Any suggestions on where to start?
Yse 1N4007... the rating is 1A 1000V. 1N4005 will work at 600 volts. The line voltage is only 120 volts. You will need to change the 22 ohm standard drop down resistor to 100 ohm 5 watt. Good luck
That looks horribly complicated :(

Could I use a 1N4005 silicon diode? Did you add a resistor to the new silicon diode? If so what value and watt rating?
