  • WOW!!

  • Sjames314 and Anyone else dont be confused the enemy is the author of confusion just talk to GOD ask HIM lay it all on HIM HE created us and loves us.

  • GOD my prayer is for Those in aa. YOU know They are being mind controlled and that satan is behind it all. Give Them wisdom to see. In JESUS name i pray.

  • What a great tribute to Stevie Ray, he can continue to speak to us from beyond and tell us how the greatest thing that ever happened to him was sobriety through the grace of god. I remember the day his helicopter went down, and they played an entire evening of his music on Clevelands 98.5 WNCX. I didn't even know that he had been recorded giving a lead, what a great find for the fellowship. He will always be a brother in this awesome fellowship of AA, and his music certainly lives on in us!!

  • What a trip to listen to SRV share. Thanks for posting these. Funny how what we do brings us all to the same level/place/standing. Dude was just another recovering alcy/addict, like all of us, once we get inside the door and take our seats. Hello to all you recovery folk, nice place to bump into you.

  • @norfolkyngvie Some of us get Recovered not all of us are always recovering. :)

  • I'm on the verge of tears...the entire speech was so inspiring

  • thanks for this audio. it's let me into his psyche and battle with drink and dope. he was a nice humble guy. No ego at all.

  • Thank you so much for posting this audio. It's an important speech, especially for those of us who love Stevie and want to know him better. It's comforting to hear his voice and to know that he was making so much progress on his life. It's just so sad that he was taken away so young. I like to think that God took him because He just couldn't wait to have him by his side. Stevie really was such a very sweet soul.

  • He sounds so at peace in these vids. And you can hear wisdom and truth in his words. He's lived. It gives me hope. I'm an alchy, trying to fight it. It ain't happening at the moment, but SRV gives me some sort of hope.

  • Very touching, humble lead.

  • Like a lot of us, I also come from a family of alcoholics & drug addicts. I saw what it did to my family & swore I'd never be like them. Unfortunately, it began with going out on the weekends just for fun. To listen & dance & sadly, drink to the music. Then 'other things' came into play- that I'm still struggling with. I'm a christian & know God will 'heal' me, if I let him. By hearing SRV's testmt. It gives me hope-by the grace of God.

i let Him. loving SRV as I do, he

  • @valluvssrv your post is very honest, i do hope you find your balance and true happiness, I also am trying to stay sober as it has caused such misery and suffering,i am inspired by Stevie here and glad to see the courage he had to love himself enough to do this, peace.

  • Wow. This inspired me and motivated me to not be scared, but to just be honest, as I have been asked to speak in 3 weeks (for the first time). I plan to listen to it several times. It's one of the most honest speeches I have heard in the program! I got to meet him and hear him in Louisville at the old Blues Club and he was great! It was a great loss when he died. He lives on through his music and through this talk. I am so grateful it was recorded!

  • Does anyone know where this was recorded?

  • @rusedorange Probably Aquarius which was his home group in Dallas

  • I just found this. I am a recovering alcohlic and addict. There was a time when I was a hopeless case. For fifteen years my life revolved around drugs and alcohol. I too got sober in AA. I have been a fan of SRV since I was 7 or 8 yrs old. Thank you for posting this story whomever you may be. Stevie was a larger than life musical genius but in alot of ways his story is just like mine. I love you Stevie. THANK GOD FOR AA.

  • I'm so glad he found God and his spirituality towards the end. It can take a man a lifetime to let his guard down and let the ego die. A lot of people find enlightenment threw pain and suffer and its effective if you can make it out alive, but so much easier to just ask God for help and let him take care and have faith. RIP SRV The greatest ever imo

  • @timmyjbone I feel as you do, Knowing Stevie knew the Lord helps greatly with the pain of his death.SRV was such a sweet soul.Just look into his eyes & you can see his soul & how much he truly cared for others. He was so 'real' & 'down home', he made you feel like you knew him.I'm sure thats why I love him. Not a phony & so talented. God gave him to us for a short time, but one day we'll see him again.Knowing this makes me smile & eases the pain of loosing him too soon.

  • The truth is at 3:05 to 3:22

  • I agree. I am a big fan of SRV. Glad to hear he got cleaned up and gave credit to God for helping him do it.

  • No-one (docs-scientists-psychs) really knows what causes some body/brains -addiction-. Only that it is =real. and not someone's 'badness=stupidness' etc. Heart and Soul of his music...is also in these videos too. THANKFUL he did this...His real- and simple- honesty...and way he puts things---for me.....hit home--deep. Seems alot of what he intended.....still goes on---even now...

  • yeh. i do know that Stevie voice was always dead low when he was addicted and stuff, but i lloked at interviews of stevie post 1987 and his voice appears different in this video. i see this is Stevie at the height of his sobriety. RIP stevie

  • sorry i sed before that it thought this wasn't stevie cos his voice seemed to high. but i see now it is. my headphnoes were acting dodgy

  • This really shows reality as opposed to the glamour of stardom. Its great something like this that was suposed to be anonymous is made public - I'm a stronger person because of it!. It just goes to show, alot of things that are public really need to be anonymous!! A paradigm shift in our culture.

  • At least he came to a point in his life that he was aware and glad that he was alive before he died. There are many people who never are able to see/say that for themselves and are unaware of this beautiful life that is given to us and our connection as (human)beings! Be In...

Stevie showed me, and keeps showing, purity on a lot of levels and hearing this speech really touched me and I am glad knowing that he opened his eyes before he closed them forever. Stevie is dead but his spirit lives on.

  • I realize your comment was posted months ago, but thanks for saying what wasn't able to put into words in my comment on SRV part 3 -- His life intersected mine - 1st because of his music, but more than that, like both my mama and daddy, both alcoholics ...I am SO thankful that his eyes were "opened before they closed forever." So simple a phrase, yet exactly what happened...touching every one of us. I'll say it again: Stevie's music isn't the only legacy he left us. RIP SRV and thank you, CB.

  • inspiring in many ways and such a shame he died just when he had gained insight into his problems and was glad to be alive -RIP Stevie♥

  • RIP stevie, much love.

  • strength not weakness is what I heard Bill W & Dr Bob and my newest hero SRV fly on little wing

  • Well I just listened to all four parts and I certainly didn't hear a "drunkalogue". I heard experience, strength and hope. Thx Stevie.

  • SRV said a lot of things I've also heard others afflicted say (and didn't believe for a long time.) eg not knowing how they feel,a convinction that they will die young, need for control of others and never being wrong, not feeling a sense of 'self'.I's like trying to understand another dimension of existence for us who are free of this problem. no amount of reasoning seems to affect them and they hate u for trying to save them. SRV covered most of it I reckon. Thanks a lot for posting it.

  • that was real cool to listen too,he's always been one of my favorite musicians and this was real good and inspiring to hear.

Please dont whine or complain about this people,ITS DAMN WELL SRV!!!!!!!!!!

  • It is nice to hear this but isn't this an EXTREME VIOLATION of anonymity?

  • @twodoggzz ~ It is but I knew Stevie and God Bless him, he would want anyone to hear this if he thought it could make a difference ~~ and it clearly has.

  • It always amazes me when "program" people think they know what a person's message should be.

  • relaxa30308 what??!!! tell me bleeding statesman what is a 'real alcoholic' i'm a real alcoholic and a pretty damn good drug addict... "real alcoholic" thats the bullsht that kills people....seriously i want a response!!!!

  • Man as a musician who's always loved SRV's music, I never knew this about him, he's telling my story. I'm not sober yet, I hope I can tell it like he does.

  • "Glad to be alive today" Imagine. A guy with SRV's talent not wanting to live. I can imagine it, lived it. I got more out of this message than 10,000 meetings.

  • Thank you God for AA and letting Stevie share

  • RIP Stevie! Thanks

  • I just got done with thanking God for allowing me to find this series of audio clips. I miss you Stevie. God Bless.

  • Uhhh. Dont take Stevie's inventory. Peace !

  • LOL. That's what I do best! :)

It's always good to let people know when they "ain't" hearing the real deal. Hey I still love Stevie - for sure! zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    Peace,

    Danny S

  • ooooh- so you know the real deal? he was sober. isnt that real enuf? people like you who THINK they have the only "real" brand of sobriety have missed the boat completely. good luck-

  • If you wanna hear a drunkalogue you should hear mine. Keep on keeping on. And keep coming back.

  • Thank you Stevie. I love you.

  • this guy touched a lot of people

    RIP STEVIE
