Book of Secrets, Osho; "You are not going to transform the ego. It may become superior, more refined, more cultured, but the ego will remain the ego. And the more cultured it becomes, the more poisonous. The more subtle, the more you will be in its grip. When it becomes subtle, you will not be aware of it; there will be no possibility."
The other fellows road is an excellent road of inquiry. I would not suggest avoiding it on the basis of Moojis' teaching only. I was surprised by his reaction to the inquiry.
Having recently spent the better part of a decade on that road of inquiry, I can tell you that the reason Mooji deflected the topic was because it is a trap of the mind. You will spend forever and ever trying to define "I" and will never be able to. Once you see that you are not your body, mind, emotions, etc. there is little to base an identity on. So the inquiry becomes ever more complex, intricate and unsatisfying. It becomes tiring as all distractions do.
Just dont connect with the thoughts coming up, because they are just an illusion, but rather connect with The Light you are, and therefor identify with it...
even in your conscious state you come to the realization of an Independent "I". One still feels the ability to function as an independent. To say that the notion of "I" and logic is an illusion is an utter blasphemy to reason and the ability to think for one self and come to the conclusion of an object right and wrong. This even is true when deciding whether or not he is right or wrong... It still takes reason... 2+2=4, and you cannot change a square into a triangle.
yeah, 2 + 2 = 4 according to logic and the axioms of mathematics.
but logic cannot be argued for with logic, it is only "true" insofar as we cannot, with the intellectual mind, conceive of otherwise. logic does not provide us with the tools to understand reality itself. reality cannot be conceptualized.
i think what mooji is saying is that you should recognize all experience as conditioning, and, moment to moment, stop associating experience with a false sense of identity.
Mooji points out that which is natural and has always been as it is. Only thing is to recognize this truth again for ourselves. Experiences derive their existence solely from Awareness regardless if conditioning or not. Weren't it for Awareness, no experience could be. Check it out! Once recognized, all experiences take on the perfume of yourSelf, the AwarenessConsciousness and hence are one with and as you. (Continued)
In the scenario just described, conditioning is inactivated. For as long as this truth isn't recognized, experiences are worshiped instead of yourSelf. Experiences then are of mind = conditioned and are the brick and mortar of the false sense of identity as a person.
Why is the sense of identity as a person false? Because all depends on Awareness. And you know this. Even in the relative sense you'd admit that nothing exists for you unless there is awareness of/about it, isn't this so?

"Logical mind is illusion". I gotta agree there. I would also like to add that I am the illusion that the world observes :)
