She's giving you all the accent of a WHITE NYKR say from Queens (listen to her and think of Archie and Edith-hmmm). I live in Maryland and people know off the bat where I'm from when I saw CAW-fee instead of CAH-FEE (coffee) or bawl instead of Bahl (ball), or wall, etc. We have a sort of "drawwwl", but it's cool. I love when people can tell! bur when they imitate me, they sound like either Rocky Balboa or an actor imitating a cab driver by exaggerating the accent. NYKR'S :thumbs up if you agree

That is NOTTTT a new york accent...plus, there are too many places in NY and cultures that influence each dialect. For example long island dialect is different than brooklyn...plus you sound different if you are italian than if you were black or even if you are jewish (although it is not a race or origin)

You got it. Adding "R"'s where they don't belong, and dropping them where they do! One unifying element to the New Yawk accents. It's not just NY. I read a London Times op ed written by a man who said his mother was from the English midlands and she would also add "R"'s - as in "warshing" instead of "washing". I'm the most interested in where accents and dialects come from. The origins are clues to the mystery of a people's history. I'm also interested in why we consider some accents 'better'
