Is the Port required for moisture? Or just flavour?

@plyalex the port adds both moisture and flavour. The alcohol cooks off.

In September 2010 I camped for a week on my own and I cooked this on, I think, the 2nd day...WARNING...I couldn't STOP eating!!!!!!
Absolutely FANTASTIC and imaginative recipe. I have never eaten tastier lamb.

@frenchbullfrog It will work fine, although you'd have to adjust cooking time, as a pressure cooker allows water to boil at a higher temp, so will cook much faster

Never seen onions used as a base. Nice idea. I have always used a trivet.
