We know she is older than Eddie who is in his twenties but not how much older. Also, Detta is very world wise. That kind of craftiness comes with age. I think you want her a little older so she can pull of both personallities. But I do see your point....

No true fan would make a movie of this series. A true fan is inferior to it's complexity and it's impossibility to do so. The fiction is way too intense for it to be real, or to be made into a strict peice of visual art but it feels so real when reading the words to the books. We all understand the complexity to make the visual art universal. Can it really be done?

@Ghaiyst I say yes but they'd have to use animation like Beowulf and it would have to be a series of movies. The Gunslinger tale is way to long to do it justice in one setting. I would want them to take no shortcuts either. Do it all and do it right. Right down to the pink monorail!

I just think the someone else will disagree and a general consensus that correlates highly with the other 7 or 8 billion possible opinions (or how its perceived) will need to also exist. IDK how that can be possible, but I also think that the dark tower movie should be very gothic. But you may disagree with that.

@Ghaiyst Actually I agree completely. It is Mr. King after all and overall it was a really dark tale. But to your original point, no medium other than a book would really do it justice. Mayhap it is best we leave it alone. Tis better to make no movie than to make a crappy visual to a legendary read. Besides, true tower fans would go see it just to pick it apart. I know I would.

Real problem is Universal they are too cautious. When the budget is too tight or using a less qualified director it will be a waiste of trying. Another risk is Universal rewrinting the script. Messing the story line of the writer will kill this project.

So Universal support Howard and make this movie!
