i think its dangerous to fly these type of airplanes in cold areas like north america this is just like American Eagle airlines flight 4184. I say that these planes should only be flown in the summer.
I know you real pilots hate when all of us flight simmers try and critique from our arm chairs, but this crash angers me. Two serious questions.
1. Why weren't either of the pilots watching the speed?
2. Why in the hell did the pilot pull back on the stick when it popped out?
Even us recreational flight simmers know the number one rule during an approach is watching that airspeed like a hawk. Always. It amazes me that professionals made such an elementary error. Ughhh.
@mightybedbugs 1. fatigue , complacency ( you do it enough and it is human to become complacent)
2. Panic and removal from the situation by being complacent
Just my opinion, it is easy to judge them sitting on my couch. The best thing to do IMO is learn from their mistakes and try and not repeat the errors. It isnt an easy job and sleep deprivation does some amazing things to your abilities. If you havent experienced it you truly don't understand.
At my airline they have a trip schedule this month 445am report time (330am wakeup call) , ending at 6pm and 7 flights all in one day. Yup, the airlines still don't care about fatigue almost 3 years later and they've got the FAA in their pocket. Nice right?
@macsdestroyspcs2 i wounder if they never turned off the autopilot and the ILS cause if your airspeed drops then the autopilot willl just keep bringing the nose of the plane up
as a pilot i can say the industry is at fault they try to run us like machines.the laws say we cant drive over 12hours. but while not on the books run us all over.and then again you get what you pay for right.i feel bad for the loved ones.
@pbrew85 there are a LOT of ways to do that, most of them are illegal and i can not reproduce it here... for the iNFO try the DVD recorders from TV its amazing!
Hire better pilots, PAY THEM A DECENT SALARY, don't work them to exhaustion, and things like this won't happen.

@mightybedbugs I agree a little bit but it was late at night and the pilots had not been given sufficient rest

PBS Frontline had an excellent segment on this crash. I think the episode was called Flying Cheap. It had a follow-up called Flying Cheaper.
