The original version is dark. This one is sad. Looking at the anime, they both perfectly match. IMO, the ed of episode 11 should be like this (i still think this anime will have a happy ending :x )
That was quite an interesting stunt you pulled off there. too bad Kyouko refused to cooperate, huh? Maybe if you find a way to win her trust early on, you might be able to do that right.

There was nothing but darkness, encroaching on all sides, threatening to consume the world. Finally, one person sacrifices themselves. And though there still is darkness, and tragedy... There is a light of hope.
This version sounds so much sadder compared to Kalafina's powerful singing which makes the song sound so much more defiant. I love both versions, they're so different!
.... The only reason this should ever be remade, is to make it the full length c: It's just... mysterious... sinister... sad.... Just <3
