  • Kinda gives me the feeling that the place really WAS haunted....

  • These or this music is where i get my organ playing name from :)

  • This is awesome. I like how when the chandlier rises and it goes from black and white to color....and the music is cool, awesome.

(I drew a picture that goes from Traditional to Digital color and all I thought of was this video!)

    Really cool :D :)

  • One person has no taste in music

  • You have no idea people how this sounds live!.... omg till this day I get goose bumps

  • ANCORE!

  • At my ballet school, they had a contest in my age lvl and I danced to this song,(I am 12) and I won! :D tthnx to sunfreckledmoonchild!

  • I saw the play in New York... best play I've ever seen. I went for my birthday (I am 15) and I absolutely loved it. So dramatic and wow, I was lost for words.

  • 1:17 onwards... ah, love it

  • Though I've only seen this movie recently (I've grown up thinking I wasn't allowed to watch this...) I absolutely love the music! This is just so...powerful, and I love the story, and this has to be my favorite part. :'D I love the beat and the organ!

  • love the movie its awesome but the begining gives me the chills!

  • This gave me the chills.

  • So ugh... did anyone ever buy that chandelier? It would be cool to find out what hapenned to it. Personally, I would have bought it, but yah lol...

  • WestBranch high school did a production of The Phantom of the Opera. Apparently it is the first school in Ohio to do a high school production of it, since the rights were only released recently. It was really elaborate, could barley tell it's a small town high school production. The special effects were EPIC!

  • If you listen to this part really loud, you can feel how powerful the phantom really is. It gives my mom chills everytime she hears it. Lol

  • Amazing fantasy!!! The most impressive fantasy of all times!

  • I love specially this part in the song: 1:34

  • you know the only thing i thought was pretty wierd was when Christine was singing in the play they had a spotlight i thought the lightbulb was invented in the early 1920's or somewhere near there

  • You gotta love that low bass organ!

  • Such Powerful notes!

  • This part is best part of the movie... i just love how the theater comes to life!

  • I ******* love this movie so much! I am going to watch it on netflix NOW!!!

  • the chandelier is number 666!!

  • By far the best bit of the film, it's downhill from here.

  • Those statues have some nice tits.

  • Beautiful...brings chills...and unforgettable!!

  • Best Part: This one.

Best Characters: The two opera managers.

    Worst Part: Masquerade.

    Worst Character: Probably the boyfriend.

Recipe for Awesomeness: Mix this music with some Christopher Noland footage or Halo or something. And a pipe organ powered by jet engine and played by a cape-wearing maniac.

  • its called the "overture"

  • This is one of the best part of the film !

  • @SeigneurAshram aka the only good part xD

  • @Haakon680 yep ! Probably & unfortunately (^^')

  • I love the transformation of the theater as the ruined chandelier is hoisted up.

  • This is my favorite part. This theme is so amazing and cool and creepy and... words! I can't think of anything else but it's that! ^_^

and the way it just goes back in time is just too real

  • Epic beggining, the chandolier rises and colour spreads. It's awesome 8D

  • no don't get rid of the background noises it's just fine the opening scene made me jump in the theatre because they used like some kind of fire work type explosion to start going back to the past on stage it was just freaking amazing it was my first time seeing it i want to see it again!!!

  • i got to see it live on 11-07-09 i was just blown away it was so brilliant i'll never forget it!!!!!

  • *sigh* I love this movie, `tis the best musical Ive ever seen :D

  • one of the best musical stuff i know!!! even there chord...genial!!!

  • i love it

  • POWERFUL AND EPIC!

  • just a question about the movie... in the black and white scenes, is the old lady supposed to be Meg? because it's 49 years after the phantom incident, and honestly, she looks younger than Raoul does.

so I'm just wondering if that's supposed to be Meg, or if Madame Giry had access to so damn good health care and skin-care products?

  • it's suppose to be madam giry

  • daaaaaaamn... she looks good for someone that has to be at least 80 by that point, then

  • It's Meg. If I remember correctly, Raoul was older than Meg and Christine by several years.

  • that's kinda what i was thinking :P

  • I believe it's Meg, it makes waaaaaaaaaay more sense.

  • This scene is amazing, even better in the theatre. Thanks for posting.

  • This scene is fantastic! Thanks for posting!

  • I just saw this movie for the first time and I got shivers when the whole opera house started changing from black and white to color. Absolutely one of the greatest scenes in the history of film.

  • Drums, ORGAN, orchestra, awesome music itself, and a ROCK GUITAR. Yup, epic music.

  • I love how the chandelier, as it rises up gives life back to the theatre almost. SO COOL!!!!!

  • so nice a song, I Love It, love the movie!!

  • this send chills on my back the first time i watched it can someone tell me the name of this theme

  • the song with words in it is called "music of the night" this might just be called "phantom of the opera theme"

  • it sends chills all over my body ANY number of times i watch it. the scene is too incredible

  • THANK YOU!!!!

this is my fav. part of the movie :)

  • You're welcome ^^

  • @jboozalis Agreed

  • beautiful music...

  • i'm absolutely in love with the music in this movie...but the story kinda of bored me to be honest..

  • two years ago this part scared me:)

    i love it

  • one word....EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The organ counterpoint in this music is the best part.

  • I'd love to hear the organ part on a real big cathedral organ just to have it blast the roof off!!

  • @lilrebo695 Better yet, the giant organ in the Sydney Opera House, that thing is beautiful.

  • i saw this show in denver, and the play kiked ass, expensive tikets though!

  • The scars are not the point! Yes, the makeup artists could have done much more thing to his face and make him look like a monster, but it would too overwhelmed.

Remeber that the musical was made on a theater first and NOT as a film. His scar is not that important compared to all the great songs we hear.

I think the producers of the movie have done an amazing job and catches a lot of the important details from the musical!

This sure is the best musical ever made!

  • "hideously deformed" in the 1870s would be horrific to people back then remember the time period bub, birth defects/abnormalities/scarring would cast anybody out and make them a monster.

  • Maybe it's to change his image from dark and charming to desperate and crazy.

  • The dark hair is fake. He uses it in combination with the mask to hide his "ugly" side.

You can see this in the movie before the part when they try to catch the Phantom in "Don Juan Triumphant", when he's talking to himself in the dungeons below the theather.

  • @sunfreckledmoonchild i like to think of him as misunderstood. but yes he was a little disturbed

  • @sunfreckledmoonchild I think he was wearing a wig aswell as a mask, if you notice in his little... cave area thing, there a multiple statue-heads, some with different masks, some with wigs.

  • @sunfreckledmoonchild Then which would be the crazy? O.o

  • @sunfreckledmoonchild Its cause he has a wig on Q~Q

  • @sunfreckledmoonchild It's because The Phantom wore a wig to cover his head because his hair had been burned along with his face,he attached the mask to his wig so when the masks come off,so does the wig.

  • What bugs me the most is that his hair changes from dark to blonde when he has his mask on or off. That really doesn't make any sense.

  • He wears a wig as well as the mask.

  • @sunfreckledmoonchild what they did was just have him wear the mask untill that on scene and then edited it (srota badly) to have everything that was coverd to be deformed. but his ear was normal with the mask but it was deformed wehn you know. that and the phantom is supposed to be a wig

  • @sunfreckledmoonchild

Actually, only one half of his head is blonde. And that does happen to some people with skin deformities. Their skin and hair is chemically bleached when it grows.

  • @sunfreckledmoonchild When it changes to light brown/blonde, it's because she's pulled his wig off along with his mask. If you saw the stage show, it's alot more obvious that the dark hair is a wig.

  • @sunfreckledmoonchild maby it does if your hiding your face away...

  • turn your volume all the way up! feel the magic...

  • @sunfreckledmoonchild maby deformed means a bad hair day too...

  • @sunfreckledmoonchild it also shows without the mask, he has less hair on 1 side than when he does with the mask on. Still a great film :) thanks

  • Just watching the theater turn from a destroyed building into this beautiful theater has to be one of my all time favorite parts of the movie.

  • omg i just luv this part of this song i cant expain it.

  • my favorite part of the movie, song is FUCKING amazing and addictive. nota musical fan, but this is great...

  • i love this movie..."the phantom of the opera is here" i love that

  • i dont like musicals but this movie was amazing

  • What a terrible combination... Andrew Llyod Webber and *gasp* Joel Schumacar. Two of the least talented in Hollywood put together to make a movie to put all musicals to shame.

And the track is stolen, too! THAT'S DEEP PURPLE'S "ECHOES" PLAYING, PEOPLE!!!

  • Considering that Deep Purple never actually released a song called "Echoes" i'm assuming you have no idea what you're talking about.

Then again, i already assumed that when you called Andrew Lloyd Webber untalented, spelled his name wrong, and had the stupidity to refer to him as "in Hollywood" when he is, in fact, residing in Great Britain, as he has been the majority of his life...

  • the beginning and the rhythmic motif towards the end, its sounds a lot like echoes, not by deep purple, but pink floyd

  • I assumed they meant Echoes by Pink Floyd, but nonetheless, to express such a strong opinion with inaccurate facts is ludicrous. And actually, all the music used by Andrew Lloyd Webber was inspired by a 1976 musical version of The Phantom of the Opera, which had been in the making around the same time as Echoes. If it resembles the song, it is by coincidence or it is not Webber's doing...

  • I just love this song...... for some reason it feels like romance to me????

  • @_@

  • This scene is epic <3

  • Epic is the word...
