CarlosReus: "the guitar solo is electrifying" - it's OK, but he's mostly playing the melody. Good but nothing special. 2nd guitar solo is a bit better.
I'll keep you satisfied is a Beatles song that Brian probably had them pen for this other band in Brian's stable. What a masterful little pop number. The Beatles are true legends. But it's quite cool to see this show, and the Beatles performance here at this show actually wasn't as good as these other artists. They probably studied and practiced all night to be at the same show as the Beatles, while the Fabs were out partying. Just another show for them. They probably had fun.
And here he is Billy J Kramer is what the guy seems to sasy, but he's saying it into the bum mic. you can see himput the mic stand back in place as he gets out of Billy's way. This particular recording, or video (whatever) seems to have only (or mostly) picked up one channel, or something, if intermittently. You people who comment on having gone to these show make me so frickin jealous. Glad it wasn't lost on you. Did this stuff make you grow up being a musician like me? My band does 'satisfied'
David Jacobs introduces "the four young musicians who call themselves the Dakotas" and forgets to introduce Billy J. !!! Wouldn't like to point it out to him though, catch the flash of "the Devil's Eyes" right at the beginning (around 0.02 secs.).
Great job! These guys really had a good sound. Great lead guitar playing by Mike Maxfield. Robin McDonald on rhythm guitar instead of bass before he switched and they brought in Mick Green to play guitar.
Only just seen the comments. Yes, this was the era for seeing so many groups, and soloists, at one venue and wallow in such an afternoon. I went with my girlfriend/wife for several years around then. There wasn't a month when we were not going to a gig like this. But the NME WAS THE ONE TO GO TO - Fantastic memories
If you wanted to look good in those days, it was a suite and tie. But that was changing , this nice clean cut look wasnt going to last for long. Billy was good,Cool guy. I miss those clean cut days.
A great bit of musicianship by Billy J Kramer and The Dakotas. Polished and clean, looking sharp in their suits and sounding cool. Plenty of their stuff out there on mimed TV performances, but live appearances like this one show how snappy and boss these guys really are. Billy J Kramer and The Dakotas are one British Invasion group that delivers the goods for sure!
Did a gig with these guys once . Billy was very nervous, Tony the drummer was very pro. Mike Maxfield was a great guitar player. They did The Cruel Sea note perfect.
Good music, gud lyrics & innovation will always win through! During the 60's no -frills raw talent, enthusiasm & determination was IN so we enjoyed so much talent I doubt will ever be repeated!
Musicians of today av an IMPOSSIBLE act 2 follow !!!!!!!
COOL GUY,back then there was a mixed look for bands, this is the 50's look, somewhat merging into the Beatles look. No bellbottoms or hippies yet.. A very clean cut look, compaired to the Stones in the same year.
64 was still the transition from the Cliff Richards and other guys with good haircuts acts to the Beatles, Stones and the rest. Bily J had foot in both camps and was basically going to go where the audiences would be. Lots of nice tunes by the way though.
Billy J. Kramer and The Dakotas were a dynamite combo who had great material; a number of Lennon-McCartney tunes plus things like "Sneakin' Around" and "Irresistable You".
One of my favourite Billy K. Kramer and The Dakotas' songs. A truly great performance : the guitar solo is electrifying and Billy K. Kramers' frontmanship is enjoyable. The dakotas played well as a live band.
Sounds pretty darn good live. Lol, the band wearing suits, and half the guys in the audience wore suits to the concert. Man how times have changed!

Great performance by Billy J & The Dakotas.
'They Remind Me Of You' was a great self-penned 'b' side.
Mike Maxfield was a genuinely exciting guitar player. Check out 'Sneakin' Around' and 'Sugar Bee'. Good stuff!

Cool dance moves, especially when so many other acts of the time looked so wooden. You gotta hand it to Billy, he had stage presence.
