hi muffdriver, was the invertor only to suppy the 5v of power? I was using a 3s lipo with a 5v bec to do this if that is the case. The software doesn't say when the update has taken place! I am going to hook it up to an osd to see if channel 8 now outputs ppm on my D8R-II
@muffdriver69 Just a random usb-serial adapter I already had and an inverter made out of two transistors (the serial lines on the receiver are inverted, normally serial lines are high when idle and low when pulsing but on the receiver the lines are low when idle and high when pulsing). I guess the "official" cables are just fine for the job and do the inverting etc. but I didn't have a need for buying those.

So I can transform my D8R-II exactly into a D8R-SP meaning I don't have to by the D8R-SP?
I still need to buy the USB cable right? Including the Lite Adapter or not?
Thanks

@muffdriver69
Just follow the normal firmware update instructions found at frsky's website but use the D8R-SP firmware instead.

@akeeh Thanks, but what cables/adaptors did you use to update the D8R-II to D8R-SP?
