dont really see the point of this, may as well just read the manual. this guy was obviously just reading the specs off a webpage or the manual, would have been nice to hear them maybe?
hmmm 400w RMS 1600w PMPO, erm no, its 800w PMPO, you would blow these speakers @ 1600w PMPO as this is not how you work out PMPO, RMS (Route Mean Squared) is the amount the speaker can handle @ a DC wavelength, PMPO (Peak Music Power Output) is how much the speaker can handle @ a AC wavelength, this is usually double as AC goes from lets say +71v and -71v ;), where as DC is just +71v, +/-71v = the amount of voltage to produce 650w @ 8ohm, and no ohmage isnt the same as resistance
well there nicer then my ev,s i got a pair of b1215,s they are low wattage from the 70,s but sound good and weigh a ton,i got A ROOM FULL OF SPEAKERS IV ACCUMALATED OVER THE YEARS
I have wondered what is the difference between 4 ohm and 8 ohm. They have told me that 4 ohm are more for pop group, because 8 ohm speakers are fore for hi fi entusiast because the sound will be better diferensiert and clearer.
The ohm rating has nothing to do with the sound of the speaker. It is simply the measurement of resistance. Most commercial speakers will be 8 ohms as a standard so that they can be daisy chained. This makes it easier to set up large speaker systems for concerts, but it has no effect on the sound of the speaker itself.
@crazydevon007 Well, I cant say as I know much about 110v amplifiers, but in the 12v world I live in, sound quality does diminish going from 8 to 4 ohm or in my case usually 4 to 1 ohm. But I suppose going from 4 to 1 ohm would be more audible than going from 8 to 4.
No not at all. There is no sonic difference in sound between and 8 and 4 ohm cabinet. There may however be a sonic difference in the case of a Tube Amp for Guitar and how it reacts to different ohm loads. In P.A. applications, the only difference is the amount of power they draw from the amp. 4 ohm's usually draws twice as much wattage as it has half the resistance of 8 ohms.
The power rating and impedance of a speaker (EG 600 @ 8 ohms) needs to be DIRECTLY matched with that of the amp. So for the 600 watt speakers at 8 ohms. You need an amp that is 600 @ 8 ohms. An amp that is 600 at a lower impedance WILL UNDER POWER.
For of showing an example, an amp that is 1000 watts at 2 ohms a channel will ROUGHLY be 500 ish at 4 and around 300 or less at 8 ohms.
Having said that, I run a Crown XTI 1000 which is 275 @ 8ohms on speakers of 600 @ 8 ohm. It runs fine!
Correct. Once you start looking at live sound rigs for concerts though or larger playback systems for clubs you'll want an amp that could over power your speakers. The reason for this is so it can swing enough voltage to hit transients and have enough power after wards to continue pumping the music at a consistent volume. A system like that I would usually go with 1.5x my speakers max wattage rating and run it with a limiter to prevent damaging the speakers.
nice stuff dude!! anychance in telling me a bit of info. on ohms. im a bit confussed on what there about and what the difference is between the 4 ohms and 8 ohms
Nicely worded lol. i went to school for 2 years to be an electrician and in our lab our instructor started us off doing little things such as car speakers and pro audio speakers like this (for the hands on stuff so that we didt get the piss shocked out of us lol) and thats one thing that he brought up in hooking us car systems. Cause when u got some pound in the backseat...u want them mothers to crack the blacktop lol

I was talking about amps bro, you know how amps say for example 1000 WATTS it says it give you that much watts BUT if you read close it will say something like 500 watts at 2ohms 350 at 4 ohms and 225 at 8 ohms SO THAT MEANS IF YOU GET 8 OHMS SPEAKERS YOUR REALLY GETING 225 WATTS ON A 1000 WATT AMP ITS CRAZY I KNOW BUT ITS TRUEEEE!!!!! if you had 2OHM speakers you would be getting the full 500 plus 500 a side.
yeah that's completely true. but an amp doesn't put out at a set resistance - it's all dependent on the speakers. Also the lower the ohm rating the hotter your amp will run. Most manufactures highly recommend against running a 2 ohm load because it can potentially damage your amp. sorry for misunderstanding your previous post
lol i have a 3500 watt CARVIN amp wich by far is the best better then any other i had use and i run 8 speakers and it runs nice and smood it done even get got or peak at all =]

@MartinGod3992 ohm measures electrical resistance....
320bit 1 year ago
@MartinGod3992 Or I guess a better way for me to put that is ohm is a measurement of electrical resistance/impedance.
320bit 1 year ago
yes it is but, impedance is completely different from resistance
MartinGod3992 1 year ago
@MartinGod3992 How so? Please explain this to me. I would be interested to know.
320bit 1 year ago
@MartinGod3992 you are wrong dude.. impedance is used in terms of electrical(AC) and resistance is use in terms of DC. they are the same actually,

Research 'Ohms law'.
Ohms is basically a fancy word for 'electrical resistance'
So, obviously then 8 ohms would be more resistance than 4 ohms.
This means that you need a more powerfull amp to get the same volume from an 8 ohm speaker, as you would from a 4 ohm speaker.
Some amps can run at 2 ohm also, but this is more common in car audio, as you only have less voltage, but thats another lesson :-)
Hope this helped a little..
