I did not do any partition or virtualization. Instead I changed my OS to ubuntu. I would rather have different computers for three OS. I choose my macbook for ubuntu instead of snow leopard. Learning more using ubuntu thats all i want to say.
i dont really see the point of as i use linux to make pc pwn mac in cost/value
but osx is a great os already, the compatibility issues seen in linx/win is not really there.
i think that linux makes more sense on a cheaper in build, better in spec laptop, to say my 3D desktop media laptop was over $9000 cheaper than ur mac lol.
Can freebsd, or any version of linux be installed on a mac without having to use any virtualization?? I want to boot natively, and not go through virtual machines.
On a mac yes, but bootcamp is not an app its a boot assistant free. its better than parallels & vmware because it uses actual hardware bootcamp is good if you want to play games that require ATI or Nvidia grapgics card not parallels or vmware virtual graphics card. On the other hand, if you want to install an os just for few apps then use vmware or parallels I used both & I find parallels easier.
Is it also not possible to start up bootcamp normally but use a Ubuntu disk instead of a windows one? Or after at least having Bootcamp make the partition and then install it from the disk? (same thing but doing less with Bootcamp I think)
Same thing, 'X' is the Roman numeral for 10, and if you look at the case for the OS (Mac) since they moved to 10 Apple has used OSX instead of OS9, OS8, ect.
does anyone know of a good tutorial on how to completely install Linux on a mac (removing OSX)
I can tell you how to do that right here...Install the ubuntu ISO onto a CD. Boot from the CD, to do this you either have to set the Bios to boot from disk, or you can click a hotkey and select what to boot from.(the hotkey varies) Boot into Ubuntu, click on the install icon, and follow the instructions. When the option of partitioning comes up, simply click on the option use entire hard drive, and you're done.
@NDMapple1 no you dont need parallels. Get rEFIt. Its an efi booloader for mac, so when you partition your laptop, you can intsall ubuntu on another partition. google "ubuntu on macbook" and you get instructions
If you use a wireless broadcom chip, you can download an application called Ndiswrapper, which can recognize drivers, such as Nvidia Gforce graphics cards and such. Not too sure if that will work on a Macbook. But if you have a wireless broadcom chip it should work
Hey a question real quick, I have a mac and I have parallels but for windows, can I still install Ubuntu as a virtual machine using my parallels or do i have to have one specific for ubuntu??? kindda stupid question but I don't know so please anyone let me know if any of you guys know.
Good video.Quick and straightforward just the way it should be done. One question about the installation. Are you using the full Parallel software or the trial version of it? Or does that not really matter? I can't wait to get Ubuntu running on a Mac. It looks awesome. Great video!
can i install this on a external terabyte harddrive?

Hey I have an old iMac G5 and I have ubuntu 10.10 and can I use ubuntu to replace my OS cuz my OS is so old it can't run flash
pacmon99 1 year ago
you know if you slipstream drivers from mac OSX to a linux disk you can use it natively.
1. intstall linux on PC with mac drivers.
2. put HDD into mac and it will work, same with windows.

Because free sofware is a " new religion", it's not money, it's a lifestyle.

Yes it is posible. It's preaty easy with PPC mac's. For intel mac's i have heard that you need to do a little tricky step using bootcamp.
AJenbo 2 years ago
is this on the ppc version or the intel versions?

intel, to use on ppc use VirtualPC
