Im not a big fan of dubbed anime, but Eureka 7 happens to be my favorite dubbed anime and I prefer to watch the English version over the Japanese version any day. :)

The fact is most dubs not in the original language, or even family of language (italian is more similar to spanish than japanese is), generally suck, I've have some german friends who think that german dubs of english cartoons generally suck,

@Axxidous the clicks they're referring to is the slight sound your mouth unintentionally makes while talking when there is a bit of an excess of saliva in your mouth.. biting the apple or just having it in your mouth will hopefully absorb/remove some of that saliva.. for some reason just spitting doesn't have the same effect
Clicks are when you are talking your teeth hit each other making a clicking sound. Eating a green apple develops a casing/film over your teeth from the juices. That prevents clicks from happening.
I find it funny how Adam was also the green turbo ranger and Zeo ranger, and he talks about how Tommy gets to be the center of everything in Power rangers' funniest moments. And NOW, here he is, saying you need GREEN apples, NOT RED. Haha...old habits die hard, johnny. :)

DON'T GIVE UP! I remember I watched a video similar to this in 2006, and from that point out decided I want to be one. A couple months ago, I got my first studio-directed demo made. My journey into voice acting began with watching a YouTube video (although to be fair I was really into acting in general before then), so NEVER give up. It's worth it and then some.
Well, I am pretty new to the voice acting world, but as a beginner, here is my two pieces of advice for you: learn to act and find something else to do. I say "find something else to do," not as in *instead* of voice acting, but *in addition to* voice acting. Voice acting can pay pretty well, but it generally doesn't, and anime is (UNFORTUNATELY) the lowest-paying field of voice acting. (Continued)
Well, I don't know exactly what Bang Zoom's contract with Johnny entails, but to give you an idea, the official Union scale for anime dubbing...the highest you'll get, in other words...is $65 an hour. That's also assuming you have a part, which you don't always have. Also, Bang Zoom is non-Union, so I guarantee you they're paying him less--probably much less--than that.
@TheShockMaster So voice acting is a really low paying job? So it could be $20 an hour non-union. So can they afford to have kids, holidays and stuff? Wow that explains why the only voice actor I know with kids is Tara Strong.
Yup, harsh reality. I had to think long and hard before pursuing this because I really want kids myself one day. To be clear, though, I was talking about overdubbing. North American animation--where you are the original voice--pays SIGNIFICANTLY more, but you still can't make a living off of one cartoon. The idea to having a successful voice acting career is to get your voice out there as much as possible. No one job will bring in a ton of dough (except a car commercial).

Oh boy, lol...that's quite difficult to sum up in a 500-character YouTube post. Unfortunately there's no standard 3-step process to becoming a voice actor. For me personally, I was a "real" actor for many years, and only a few years ago decided to try my hand at voice acting too. I was already an actor, that's the important thing...you have to learn how to act. I would say acting and immediately after that your ability to market yourself are the two "big things" needed.
Part 2: There are so many different ways. Telemarketing yourself (works better than you'd think), getting ads out, business cards, getting an agent, joining a voice casting web site like Voice123...so many different things. Actually, if you're really considering a voice acting career, go to Kyle Hebert's web site. He offers private 1-hour voice acting lessons over Skype for a very good price. I've taken one with him before and it was very helpful and very fun.
Part 3: Also, fyi, many voice actors have said they don't like the, "How do you get into voice acting?" question...and this is kind of why. There's always an internal debate as to whether to say "Go for it, pursue your dreams!" or to tell people the harsh realities of the job...because we want to say both. To focus on one of those two messages alone is to miss the overall picture. If you're willing to push through those, though, it's a very fun job. Don't give up just yet!

No, man, Gandhi was insightful. I'm just an actor, lol. As far as a living...no, you *can* make a living just by voice acting, but it's very tough because you have to be doing voice acting for as many things as possible...phone message systems, commercials, audiobooks, cartoons...it ain't easy, but it's doable. Many voice actors have "day jobs." It's easy AND doable if you happen to be a voice in a phenomenally successful cartoon like "Family Guy" or "The Simpsons," but
Part 2: the odds aren't, shall we say, "inspirational," lol. Every job has its advantages and disadvantages, but the disadvantage to voice acting is that you very rarely can afford to turn work down. Sean Schemmel once said that he hated doing the voice of Black Doom from "Shadow the Hedgehog," because it nearly destroyed his vocal cords. A fan asked him why he agreed to do it then, and his immediate response was, " 'Cause I wanna eat."
Part 3: Just because you're a voice actor doesn't mean you can't live, though. It certainly doesn't mean you can't have kids. Voice acting is a job, not a vasectomy (ugh...perish the thought). If you want to do cartoons, you'll also have to live in an area that hires for them, you can't just live anywhere. This means NYC, Dallas, LA, or Van Couver. If you're willing to make these sacrifices and can realistically manage to do all the other things you want to do, then...
Part 4:...Well, then go for it! Just remember, every voice actor will tell you its a difficult road, and they mean it. As far as "click"...it's hard to describe, it happens when your mouth is over-salivated. Your words, especially the consonants, tend to give off a slight "click" noise. Green apples dry your mouth off just a little bit, but not to the point of removing mouth moisture...the perfect tool for removing clicks. Hope that helps!
And if you want to get a house, get married, have kids, eventually send them to college, go on vacations...that's something to think about. So, find something else to do *in addition* to voice acting. Secondly, learn to act. More than anything else, that's what directors want. Case in point: Seve Jay Blum. The guy does pretty much one voice, but he gets A TON of work because he can effectively act his characters and bring their emotions to life.
It's (MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH) more important to be able to act well then to be able to do over 9,000 voices. And honestly, while theater doesn't pay much, it is the best place to train your acting skills. If you're still in school, take theater classes, and later you can take voice acting classes (Kyle Hebert offers them over Skype, for example). It is a very fun job for all it's downsides, though, so I wish you good luck--hope to see you in a booth one day!

To anybody here who wants to be a voice actor:
DON'T GIVE UP! I remember I watched a video similar to this in 2006, and from that point out decided I want to be one. A couple months ago, I got my first studio-directed demo made. My journey into voice acting began with watching a YouTube video (although to be fair I was really into acting in general before then), so NEVER give up. It's worth it and then some.

I say "find something else to do," not as in *instead* of voice acting, but *in addition to* voice acting. Well, I don't know exactly what Bang Zoom's contract with Johnny entails, but to give you an idea, the official Union scale for anime dubbing...the highest you'll get, in other words...is $65 an hour. That's also assuming you have a part, which you don't always have. Also, Bang Zoom is non-Union, so I guarantee you they're paying him less--probably much less--than that.

Yup, harsh reality. I had to think long and hard before pursuing this because I really want kids myself one day. To be clear, though, I was talking about overdubbing. North American animation--where you are the original voice--pays SIGNIFICANTLY more, but you still can't make a living off of one cartoon. The idea to having a successful voice acting career is to get your voice out there as much as possible. No one job will bring in a ton of dough (except a car commercial).

Oh boy, lol...that's quite difficult to sum up in a 500-character YouTube post. Unfortunately there's no standard 3-step process to becoming a voice actor. For me personally, I was a "real" actor for many years, and only a few years ago decided to try my hand at voice acting too. I was already an actor, that's the important thing...you have to learn how to act. I would say acting and immediately after that your ability to market yourself are the two "big things" needed.

Part 2: There are so many different ways. Telemarketing yourself (works better than you'd think), getting ads out, business cards, getting an agent, joining a voice casting web site like Voice123...so many different things. Actually, if you're really considering a voice acting career, go to Kyle Hebert's web site. He offers private 1-hour voice acting lessons over Skype for a very good price. I've taken one with him before and it was very helpful and very fun.

Part 3: Also, fyi, many voice actors have said they don't like the, "How do you get into voice acting?" question...and this is kind of why. There's always an internal debate as to whether to say "Go for it, pursue your dreams!" or to tell people the harsh realities of the job...because we want to say both. To focus on one of those two messages alone is to miss the overall picture. If you're willing to push through those, though, it's a very fun job. Don't give up just yet!

No, man, Gandhi was insightful. I'm just an actor, lol. As far as a living...no, you *can* make a living just by voice acting, but it's very tough because you have to be doing voice acting for as many things as possible...phone message systems, commercials, audiobooks, cartoons...it ain't easy, but it's doable. Many voice actors have "day jobs." It's easy AND doable if you happen to be a voice in a phenomenally successful cartoon like "Family Guy" or "The Simpsons," but

Part 2: the odds aren't, shall we say, "inspirational," lol. Every job has its advantages and disadvantages, but the disadvantage to voice acting is that you very rarely can afford to turn work down. Sean Schemmel once said that he hated doing the voice of Black Doom from "Shadow the Hedgehog," because it nearly destroyed his vocal cords. A fan asked him why he agreed to do it then, and his immediate response was, " 'Cause I wanna eat."

Part 3: Just because you're a voice actor doesn't mean you can't live, though. It certainly doesn't mean you can't have kids. Voice acting is a job, not a vasectomy (ugh...perish the thought). If you want to do cartoons, you'll also have to live in an area that hires for them, you can't just live anywhere. This means NYC, Dallas, LA, or Van Couver. If you're willing to make these sacrifices and can realistically manage to do all the other things you want to do, then...

Part 4:...Well, then go for it! Just remember, every voice actor will tell you its a difficult road, and they mean it. As far as "click"...it's hard to describe, it happens when your mouth is over-salivated. Your words, especially the consonants, tend to give off a slight "click" noise. Green apples dry your mouth off just a little bit, but not to the point of removing mouth moisture...the perfect tool for removing clicks. Hope that helps!

And if you want to get a house, get married, have kids, eventually send them to college, go on vacations...that's something to think about. So, find something else to do *in addition* to voice acting. Secondly, learn to act. More than anything else, that's what directors want. Case in point: Seve Jay Blum. The guy does pretty much one voice, but he gets A TON of work because he can effectively act his characters and bring their emotions to life.

It's (MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH) more important to be able to act well then to be able to do over 9,000 voices. And honestly, while theater doesn't pay much, it is the best place to train your acting skills. If you're still in school, take theater classes, and later you can take voice acting classes (Kyle Hebert offers them over Skype, for example). It is a very fun job for all it's downsides, though, so I wish you good luck--hope to see you in a booth one day!
