  • @tapian4523 yes but they wouldn't have travelled so far and so quickly cos his overall movement forward would be less i.e. he wouldn't go so far as to hit the windscreen.

  • cool

  • wat.. wouldn't his organs kept on travelling if he wore his seat belt? wtf?

  • @taipan4523 thats waht i thouhgt too :/

  • A Assailable Usherette Let Twerp Yow its an anagram for gloucester harrys amusing story

  • @dubravajecentar FFS OF COURSE HE DIED DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the foot that traveled all the way up his body, through his heart and into his brain, thats what killed richard

  • auch, feels to hurt.

  • I'm glad to see that this ad makes it clear that airbags are not always as effective at saving lives as many people think they are. The truth is, while an airbag is helpful, a seatbelt is much more so-anyone ever see a rollercoaster that uses airbags instead of seat harnesses? Your car and body organs are moving just as fast as a rollercoaster train on open roads. Would you dare ride a rollercoaster with no restraints? No? Then you shouldn't drive a car with no restraints either!

  • thats what im saying thank you

  • Airbags and seat belts are designed to work together... Thats why airbags are called supplemental restraint systems, the seat belts are the primary form of restraint.

  • i never wear my seatbelt and get out with hardly a scratch

  • Well, Okay, I ain't meaning to start no arguements. Are you from Illinois? Because here in Illinois if they catch you without a seatbelt you get ticketed. That ain't my fault, I didn't make the law. Nobody can force you to wear a seatbelt, though.

  • nope from california

  • @cabanaboi29 well your gonna be dead soon. they make adverts like this for dicks like you who don't wear seatbelts. Happy driving :-)

  • what an unlucky but why do taxi drivers dont wear seatbelts pretty weird dont you think

  • I'm not sure where you're from, but here in the United States taxi drivers are big dummies who seem to think they own the whole road! They don't wear seat belts, drive like maniacs and then complain about how bad "other" drivers are-usually about the drivers that did nothing wrong, they just happened to be in the stupid cab driver's way!

  • its weird

  • Sorry, I guess i misread what you wrote.

  • That was horrible when I get a car I'm wearing a seat belt which I always do. But maybe I not getting a car instead on feet transport.

  • I wish it were that easy here in the United States suburbs! Around here if you ain't got a car, you ain't going nowhere! Public transit here in the suburbs sucks-if you miss your bus, you may have to wait an hour or two for the next one-and, of course, they're always late. And if your destination isn't on the scheduled route you may wind up walking half the way! And cab fare is ridiculous-alot of people can't afford cabs! Sorry to sound capitalistic and wasteful, but it's the sad truth.

  • poor richard. lol

  • So this is supposed to be too graphic to be shown before 9 p.m.? This is a good ad, but it is hardly graphic.

  • that is a bit of an exaggeration (heart rib)

  • Not really. If you think about it, you have a load of meat impacting the ribs at about 30mph, and that's going to do a fair bit of damage. Also, with the forces involved, the pulmonary artery could easily be ruptured.

  • well then i wont wear my seatbelt and see for myself what it will do thank you for letting me know in advance ;)

  • Wow. Hopefully you'll be in the car yourself so you won't accidentally kill anyone else when you go flying around the car. Dumbass. You might not even die and you have to be paralyzed for the rest of your life. But do whatever you want. Hopefully your insurance can pay for everything.

  • you really thought i was serious.. sounds like someone's the dumbass for being naive

  • You were being a disrespectfal bellend.

  • oh get over it and live a little and laugh a little

  • love how the womans describing it all in a cutesey voice.

  • i saw this advert in the cinema...bleugh. big screen richard death

  • And that's what killed Richard^^

  • as much as I hate this advert I adore it! it's amazing and powerful! keep it up guys lol.

  • we have these signs in the company cars saying:

Please wear your seat belt, its the law

only someone scratched most of the letters off so it says

    we eat tits.

  • OK HE IS DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT ROAD and he cant see a car right in front of him... he is driving on the wrong side of the road as this is in the UK and there doesnt appear to be anyone in the other car

  • Utter rubbish. Why is being told this more of a threat than being told you'll die anyway? Also it is the crash that kills him. Thats like saying "well it wasn't the heart attack that killed them, it was the lack of blood being pumped around the body". Shut up! The simplest way of saying they died is how they died. So yeah wear a seatbelt, don't drink and drive, don't speed and don't make crap adverts like this. Thank you.

  • This isn't a crap advert, this is an effective way of getting the message across. A small minority of people like you would say it's utter rubbish, but the majority of people would be affected by what they have just seen, and think twice about not wearing a seat belt.

  • Well I'm glad there is at least a minority who'll question the merits of such an advert. Obviously the sentiment is good but I just can't see how some cheesy computer graphics furthers the campaign. If being told you risk being killed isn't enough for some people then I really don't hold much hope that this will get through to them either.

  • Like I said, only a small minority would be unaffected by what they see. Telling someone what might happen doesn't really have much effect; showing them what might happen does.

  • They've been showing people dying for years but you really believe that now they are showing internal body parts being destroyed this is what's going to change things?

  • Actually yes, since the start of those adverts, there have been a decrease in the number of deaths regarding not wearing a seatbelt (although I'm not saying the adverts caused the decrease). Since they're starting to get a bit more graphic with their adverts, I suppose that number will continue to decrease (again, I'm not saying the adverts alone caused this).

  • Amazing.

I don't think it should be removed.

Lets make people shocked, there would definitely be less deaths ffs!

  • You think Richard got hurt. You shuld see the other guy.

  • This advert is so shocking, and I think that's a good thing. I understand why people want this advert edited or removed. But this is the general idea of shock-tactic.

  • It sticks in my mind, but for the graphic detail. I just seen no reason why we need to see his organs, thats why it should be banned or at least edited. It's unethical.

  • This advert makes me feel sick. It should be banned

  • no adverts like this should be banned. its made for a reson and i hope the THINK! company keep making them.

  • you make me feel sick, you should be banned!

    lol

  • Everytime I hear the words

    "Richard didernt have do die"

i mute this ad since i hate the sounds of the ribs

  • Terrible and dangerous advert. This advert is going to make people think that wearing a seat will actually make a head on collision safe. If you dispute any of this then I compel you to study Professor John Adam's work on seat belts.

  • isnt john adam responsible for the fact that seatbelts ON, can actually cause more damage, than seatbelts OFF?

  • Good advert- really hits the point home. We need more shock tactic adverts in Britain

  • This is a stupid advert because his organs would still carry on travelling forward at whatever speed he had been doing whether he had a seat belt on or not. In fact the air bag would allow him to decelerate slightly which wouldn't happen if restrained by a seat belt.He probably wouldn't bash his head on the windscreen though.

  • The airbag is there to prevent your head from hitting the steering wheel. It won't hold up against your whole body weight hitting it at 30-40mph. A seat belt minimizes forward movement, thus greatly reducing the forces to which the body is exposed, not to mention preventing the blunt force trauma from impacting the dashboard. A study in the US showed that after seat belt laws were introduced and enforced, 40% more people escaped crashes without injury, and 35% escaped with only mild injuries.

  • that`s just messed up

  • thats just wrong cant show that on tv

  • well its a Shock Ad

    to make you think

kinda like that level crossing ad

  • what, with the little girl who thinks if shes 20seconds late getting home, her mother will slap her about and shit?

    that is stupid...

  • err why is this comment a reply to what i said?

  • which one..?

  • "what, with the little girl who thinks if shes 20seconds late getting home, her mother will slap her about and shit?

    that is stupid..." that one

  • well yeh, shes at a level crossing, shes lyk 6, and she thinks " i need to get home" and runs across tracks and gets splattered like jam cake!

coz she cant wait 20seconds for the train to pass...

  • Im off for some ribs and black pudding.

  • it is shown before 9pm.

i just saw it like 10 minutes ago on tele.

    and its only 4:30!

i do think this is really good though :)

although i do agree with Bezmister, wouldnt that still happen if you're wearing a seatbelt?

    odd. :S

  • No, because the seatbelt stops you with a much more "gentle" force. It doesn't stop you rapidly then force you back.

  • I'm dissapointed, when I heard "oh graphic ad, only shown after watershed" I expected proper gore.. not something that's tame even by csi standards... sheesh. Nothing like the ads I grew up with PRE watershed in NZ.. now THOSE were graphic and traumatic.

  • fuckin typical name init "richard", its not "john" then :L

i dont understand why this advert cant be shown before 9pm, people are goin round sayin how violent it is, that is nuffin compared to the scary 18 games the kids are playing

they should focus on more adverts like sex education adverts, teenage pregnancies, do teenage parents ever think if they had a disabled child would they still be able to cope...hmmm?

i hope some of u are reading this

  • The advert can't be shown before 9pm in case younger kids watch it and freak out... Makes sense...

:L The stuff that goes on tv has to be carefully moderated to make sure it doesn't offend people.

It's not the parents of the disabled child that have to "cope" its the child that does. They are stuck with a condition that they can't do much about for the rest of their lives. I think more should be done to teach younger children not to mock people with serious disabilities. It's not fair.

  • i read it

  • Surely even if he wore a seatbelt, his organs would fly into his ribs etc...

  • The seatbelt slows you down slightly more gently than the dashboard, steering wheel or airbag (don't forget the airbag is going in the opposite direction to the driver). Some seatbelts also incorporate systems that "give" slightly so you can spend more time decelerating than a fixed belt.

If you are ever in an accident don't forget to insist that you insurer replace your belts!!

  • Nice

  • its hardly pointless if it makes people realise the importance of wearing a seatbelt. Even if it got one person to start wearing the seatbelt all the time (which is definatly has) then its worth it.

  • Ow...

  • yum

  • oh richard! always getting into scrapes.
